2D Adjacency Matrix Generation using DCT for UWV contents

  • Since a display device such as TV or signage is getting larger, the types of media is getting changed into wider view one such as UHD, panoramic and jigsaw-like media. Especially, panoramic and jigsaw-like media is realized by stitching video clips, which are captured by different camera or devices. In order to stich those video clips, it is required to find out 2D Adjacency Matrix, which tells spatial relationships among those video clips. Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), which is used as a compression transform method, can convert the each frame of video source from the spatial domain (2D) into frequency domain. Based on the aforementioned compressed features, 2D adjacency Matrix of images could be found that we can efficiently make the spatial map of the images by using DCT. This paper proposes a new method of generating 2D adjacency matrix by using DCT for producing a panoramic and jigsaw-like media through various individual video clips.

Gesture based Natural User Interface for e-Training

  • Objective: This paper describes the process and results related to the development of gesture recognition-based natural user interface(NUI) for vehicle maintenance e-Training system. Background: E-Training refers to education training that acquires and improves the necessary capabilities to perform tasks by using information and communication technology(simulation, 3D virtual reality, and augmented reality), device(PC, tablet, smartphone, and HMD), and environment(wired/wireless internet and cloud computing). Method: Palm movement from depth camera is used as a pointing device, where finger movement is extracted by using OpenCV library as a selection protocol. Results: The proposed NUI allows trainees to control objects, such as cars and engines, on a large screen through gesture recognition. In addition, it includes the learning environment to understand the procedure of either assemble or disassemble certain parts. Conclusion: Future works are related to the implementation of gesture recognition technology for a multiple number of trainees. Application: The results of this interface can be applied not only in e-Training system, but also in other systems, such as digital signage, tangible game, controlling 3D contents, etc.

A Heterogeneous Home Network Control System Using HNCP

  • In this paper, a heterogeneous home network control system using HNCP is proposed and implemented. A power line and 802.15.4 are used as media for the system. Information about home environment gathered by sensors is transferred to a power line connected device through the 802.15.4. HNCP stimulate the home network based on the both media. Sensor device definition for the HNCP address and message set is proposed. TinyOS supports the HNCP stack on the wireless sensor board. The home network control system implemented with these techniques has a benefit of user friendly operation of home appliances based on the sensing data. Implementation and experiment shows validity of the system.

  • 본 논문은 선박 네비게이션 단말기의 효율성을 위한 VDR 시스템 및 이를 이용한 데이터 출력 저장 방법에 관한 것으로, 압축된 디지털 데이터와 아날로그 영상을 카메라로부터 함께 출력할 수 있도록 함으로써 압축된 디지털 데이터는 VDR 장치의 영상 저장에 이용하고 아날로그 영상은 실시간으로 화면 출력에 이용할 수 있도록 하여, 네비게이션 단말기에 부하를 주지 않고 영상을 실시간으로 모니터로 출력함과 함께 SD 메모리에 저장하게 하는 VDR 장치 및 이률 이용한 데이터 출력 저장 등의 제어방법을 제시하고자 한다.

Implementation of automatic detection system of IoT based sensor device (Considering the application service of reduction of consumption current)

  • In this paper, IoT(Internet of things) technology, which is the core of the 4th industrial revolution, was applied to the study of reduction of consumption current. The IoT is a sensor that collects data, a sensor communication, a gateway that processes and stores the collected data. Data application of IoT technology is applied to smart home, smart city, healthcare, smart factory, etc. and it needs to be applied to various industrial fields. By sensing the location of the sensor device, the specific functions of the gateway and the platform are turned ON and OFF to reduce the consumption current of the equipment during the OFF period. When the sensor device accesses the gateway, the specific function of the gateway is turned ON and When the device is separated from the gateway, it senses the sensitivity of the wireless signal and automatically turns off the certain functions. As a resurt, it has reduced the consumption of current. In this paper, we propose a novel system for detecting the location of sensor devices by applying IoT technology. The system implementation is realized by software based, and defines the requirements for the implementation of the sensor device gateway. The gateway automatically detects the location, movement of the device and performs necessary functions. Finally verifies the automatic detection performance of the gateway according to the location of the device. It will contribute greatly to the development of the smart city and office.

  • As network resources have become faster and demands for multimedia service through network have increased, the demand for Media server system has increased. These kinds of media server solve their bottle neck problem of internal storage device by using parallel system which takes advantage of fast network resource. Many vendors have suggested each of their media server system to solve these problem radically, but most of them require major modification of infra component and additional drawback has added. For example, storage mechanism for specific media requires new file system which is totally different from traditional one, and algorithm for enhancing performance may not suit for traditional operating system environment. In this paper, we designed a parallel media server based on web interface of traditional system and implemented a program for media server. Implemented server system performs parallel processing through web interface without any modification of traditional system, and controls which is related to merging load by distributed data is charged only to client and control server and consequently load of storage server can be minimized. And also, data transfer protocol for streaming media includes Retransfer algorithm and client Admission control policy relevant to performance of whole system.

Wireless Channel Management Scheme for ASMD Groups in Wireless N-screen Services

  • In this paper, a Wireless USB (WUSB) protocol is adopted for development of ASMD (Adaptive Source Multi Device) N-screen wireless services. WUSB is the USB technology merged with WiMedia PHY and Distributed-MAC (D-MAC). However, the current WUSB protocol can't provide seamless N-screen streaming services to moving WUSB devices in home network environment. Therefore, to provide the ASMD N-screen services through WUSB based on D-MAC protocol, a channel management scheme is proposed to support seamless mobility between adjacent ASMD groups for wireless IPTV N-screen services. In simulation results, proposed ASMD channel management (ACM) scheme is compared with conventional WUSB channel management scheme in view points of throughput, average path interference and energy consumption according to various numbers of nodes and elapsed simulation times. Through simulation results, it is explained that proposed ASMD channel management (ACM) scheme should be adopted in the WUSB protocol to realize ASMD N-screen wireless services.

  • Wimedia UWB(Ultra-Wideband) platform provides data rates up to 480Mbps in WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network). Wimedia conformant devices access to the channels through superframe concept for communications. As the channel resource is limited, the optimal channel time required for each device needs to be estimated to share the resource efficiently among the devices. In this paper, we propose a scheme to estimate the required channel time in a super frame to satisfy the QoS of the application on a device. The channel time is estimated from the service rate which is computed from the TSPEC of the application. In the process of the estimation, we take the frame overhead for data transmission as well as the overhead due to the acknowledgement scheme, preamble, and MDSU size into consideration. We also analyze and compare the throughputs for different acknowledgement scheme, preamble, and MDSU size situations. The estimated channel time required for a given service rate is allocated in the unit of MAS(Medium Access Slot).

  • IP 카메라는 원격지에서도 감시할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, UTP를 통해 전원 공급도 가능한 장점을 가지고 있으므로 아날로그 CCTV를 급속하게 대체하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IP 카메라에 널리 적용되고 있는 ONVIF 표준의 프로토콜 구조와 그 외에도 이를 지원하기 위한 인터넷 프로토콜들을 소개하고, 상용보드 상에서 ONVIF 디바이스를 구현한다. 이러한 기능들은 클라이언트 (PC)의 관리 프로그램에서 제어 가능하지만, 사생활 보호 마스크나 열화상 카메라의 온도표시, 관심 영역과 같은 기능은 디바이스 상에서 웹 뷰어를 통해 구현한다. 실험을 통해 IP 카메라와 클라이언트 프로그램이 주고받는 SOAP 메시지와 스트리밍되는 영상을 통해 ONVIF Profile S와 웹 뷰어 기능을 확인한다.
