The objective of this study was to propose the priorities among the possible development strategies that can activate the industry while the market potential of cruise tourism industry has been increasing. To achieve the research aim, the A'WOT (SWOT-AHP) method was adopted in this study focusing on Jeju cruise industry. As a result of analysis, the strength factor (0.421) was the most important thing among the proposed factors. And, opportunity (0.348), weakness (0.135), and threat (0.096) factors were calculated in turn. Based on the A'WOT analysis, the most urgent thing among the strategy alternatives was 'Installation of dedicated department for Jeju cruise industry'. Accordingly, this result can be utilized as the fundamental data in order to make an optimal decision following by the environmental changes in Jeju cruise industry.

This paper is to explore that there are structural problems in the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agrement negotiation by examining the Korean FTA policy and to introduce some alternatives to overcome them. The structural problem stems in part from the inefficient system in FTA policy making and its implementation. Most importantly, there is a lack of ex-ante consensus building among stake-holders. As an alternative to the current FTA policy, we suggest two things. First, we argue that an FTA negotiation strategy should correspond to Korea's overall industrial development strategy. Second, the National Assembly should play an important part for enforce of trade policies as a tool for advancing a comprehensive strategic measures.

The purpose of this research is to develop strategic alternatives for the high-tech products development by comparatively studying characteristics of the industry and R&D structures in Korea and the US. Some of the environmental, strategic, organizational and project teams' characteristics are studied. Data were collected from Korea and US high-tech companies through interviews and questionnaires and event analysis method was used to analyze them. The findings are as follows: First, when the level of market concentration is high, cycle time tends to be longer. Therefore, if there are many competitors in the market, new products development should be swift due to competitive pressures. Second, the developmental strategy should be directed toward the existing customers to speed up new products development. That is, a defensive strategy would result in a shorter cycle time and response time compared to a strategy directed to a niche market. Third, when the level of formalization is high, cycle time tends to be shorter. This means that formal procedures for new products idea development or new products development policies shorten new products development time.

This study evaluated the priority of port development in Korea using game theory. First of all, the study selected residents, users and local governments as the subject of port development and measured total evaluation value with the AHP method. In addition, considering complaint level depending on comprehensive evaluation results and selected alternatives in case of affiliation between evaluating subjects, the study proposed a minimizing evaluation method. Also, compensation depending on the selected alternatives was quantified, with compensation strategy being presented. The findings of this study revealed that Busan port should be taken into consideration first for the port development in Korea, as an environmentally friendly port.

Government makes a policy to support SME R&D investement. We reviewed SMBA(Small and Medium Business Administration) policy for SME R&D and try to find alternatives. One of the alternatives is to increase a budget for large and SME co-development program.

This study presents the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a potential decision-making method for obtaining the relative weights of alternatives through pairwise comparison in the context of hierarchical structure. The aim of this study was to elicit prior strategies for brand communication for Korean restaurants overseas. We created a questionnaire and surveyed experts at government agencies, restaurant companies, and universities from October to November 2011. By applying the pairwise comparison matrix, relevance was perceived as a more important strategy evaluation criteria than effectiveness or urgency. The highest-ranked strategy was the 'Identification of the BI and positioning of Korean restaurants' followed by 'Development of Korean food content for overseas promotion', 'Development of locally customized Korean food recipes and new Korean menus', 'Development of marketing communication strategies for Korean restaurants by countries', and 'Development of Korean restaurant differentiation strategies'. The results of this study can be used for effective Korean food globalization by enhancing the competitiveness in the world market.

Europe outlined its technological development strategy in the "EU 2020 Strategy". The goal is to lift the EU's technological level above that of the United States or Japan. In particular the EU 2020 Strategy aims to make the EU the world's leading knowledge society. The research purpose of that article is to focus on international technological cooperation. Chapter two examines the EU's international technological cooperation approach. Chapter three analyses the EU 2020 Strategy in terms of development, background and content. Chapter four looks at the involved countries for technological cooperations and scrutinises possible policy alternatives. In chapter five is given a conclusion.

The AHP is a good methodology for the multicriterion decision-making process such as nuclear fuel cycle technology selection, which requires consideration of international circumstances, social factors, economic factors as well as technological factors. This paper presents the prioritization of technologies using AHP at back-end fuel cycle development strategy and it would be useful for the national nuclear development planners.

This study suggests that Korea - Russia economic cooperation, which has been sluggish in the meantime, should be revitalized as a small, medium sized business that can be practiced at the local level of both countries. Some large scales of national projects were difficult to realize due to some internal and external factors. Therefore, if Russia's Far East region of the complementary economic structure with the Korea's Gyeonggi Province of Korea could form the basis of cooperation by centering on SMEs, it further can be positive for promoting cooperation among South Korea, North Korea and Russia. The trilateral cooperation among two Koreas and Russia is necessary for the balance of political and economic powers in the East Asia. China's retaliation case regarding THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) clearly showed that the greater the economic dependence on a particular country, the more threatening it could be. Therefore, it is important for the political and economic security to keep the balance by diversifying economic cooperation counterparts. As China's influence in the global economy grows, building value chains for mutual prosperity with various neighboring countries is gaining great importance. To this end, this paper examined Russia's Eurasian Strategy, New East Policy, and Far East Development Policy which were designed to seek the way to establish Russia's independent economic zone not absorbed by Europe and China.

This paper presents an expert system approach to solve preliminary bridge design problems. The system employs a forward chaining inference strategy to 1) choose the appropriate superstructure types and construction methods and 2) use the solutions chosen in 1) to determine a list of ranked alternatives. The basic information used in the selection is collected from various sources. Due to the uncertainties presented in the information collected, Fuzzy sets are used to handle these uncertainties in the system. Finally to approve this system some applications are made to select superstructure types and construction methods of them.
