Methods used for exploring marine resources and spaces include positioning a probe under water and then recalling it after a specified time. Hydro-acoustic Releasers are commonly used for positioning and retrieving of such exploration equipment. The most important factor in this kind of system is the reliability for recalling the instruments. The frequently used ultrasonic signal detection method can detect ultrasonic signals using a fixed comparator, but because of increased rates of errors due to outside interferences, information is repetitively acquired. This study presents an effective ultrasonic signal detection algorithm using the characteristics of a resonance and adaptive comparator Combined with the FSK+ASK modulator. As a result, approximately 8.8% of ultrasonic wave communication errors caused by background noise and transmission losses were reduced for effectively detecting ultrasonic waves. Furthermore, the resonance circuit's quality factor was enhanced (Q = 120 to 160). As such, the bias voltage of the transistor (Vb= 3.3 to 6.8V) was increased thereby enhancing the frequency's selectivity.
This study investigates the detection system of oil pollution level using single optical fiber sensor. This study focus on sensing of oil pollution by moisture and iron powder which are representatives of oil pollution factor. In addition, It is placed that the water and iron powder as an oil pollution factor in the oil tank which is the oil circulation in. The oil pollution detection system was measured by the changing of intensity of light and sensing gap. The result of this experimentation not only confirmed the contamination by moisture volume in the oil tank from the section 190ppm to 540ppm, but also monitored the contamination by iron volume from the section 1200ppm to 3500ppm. This study confirmed effectiveness of this detection system using optical fiber sensor. There is expectations of measuring another section by various optical fiber sensor.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting early detection behaviors of breast cancer such as breast self examination(BSE), breast physical examination, mammography. Method: The subjects were 141 women on an island and materials were collected through an organized questionnaire from March, to August 2002. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, $x^2$ and logistic analysis by SAS program. Results: 52.7% of the subjects performed breast self examination, 67.2% did breast physical examination and 67.7% did mammography. That is, about 60% of the subjects performed early detection behavior to find the breast cancer. Practice of breast self examination was significantly correlated with experience of physician examination and mammography. The most significant factor on BSE was a normal salted diet, and the most significant factor on physical examination and mammography was the high education level of subjects. Conclusions: According to the results of this study, it suggests that intensive education and information strategies for breast cancer early detection need to be developed. In particular, early detection programs for lower educated women should be activated.
In this study the bonding quality evaluation of FRP honeycomb structure was performed by the ultrasonic C-Scan method and stress wave factor measurements. These NDT techniques could be well applied to the disbonding detection of FRP honeycomb structures. Especially, stress wave factor (SWF) measurement is expected to be a useful technique in field applications.
In this paper, we propose the passive PFC(Power Factor Correction) circuit of an electronic ballast with the constant power the detection circuit for 110 or 220 volt. The proposed PFC circuit is composed with the modified dither circuit and the input voltage detection circuit. We have concluded that the proposed method is the attractive method to improve of power factor for the electronic ballast with the input voltage regulation and it is a similar experimental results with other active power factor correction method using other PWM ICs.
In this paper, a GNSS interference detection algorithm based on an adaptive fading Kalman filter is proposed to detect a spoofing signal which is one of the threatening GNSS intentional interferences. To detect and mitigate the spoofing signal, the fading factor of the filter is used as a detection parameter. For simulation, the effect of the spoofing signal is modeled by the ramp type bias error of the pseudorange to emulate a smart spoofer and the change of the fading factor value according to ramp type bias error is quantitatively analyzed. In addition, the detection threshold is established to detect the spoofing signal by analyzing the change of the error covariance and the effect of spoofing is mitigated by controlling the Kalman gain of the filter. To verify the performance analysis of the proposed algorithm, various simulations are implemented. Through the results of simulations, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm works well.

The activity of gamma-ray emitting nuclides is calculated assuming that each gamma-ray is detected individually; thus, the magnitude of the coincidence summing signal must be considered during activity calculations. Here, the correction factor for the coincidence summing effect was calculated, and the detection efficiencies of two HPGe detectors were compared. The CANBERRA Inc. GC4018 high-purity Ge detector provided an estimate for the peak-to-total ratio using a point source to determine the coincidence summing correction factor. The ORTEC Inc. GEM60 high-purity Ge detector uses EFFTRAN in LVis to obtain the parameters of the detector and source model and the gamma-gamma and gamma-X match estimates, in order to determine the coincidence summing correction factor. Nuclide analyses, radioactivity comparisons, and analyses of reference material samples were performed utilizing certified reference materials to accurately determine the detection efficiencies. For both Co-60 and Y-88, the detection efficiency for a point source increased by an average of at least 12-13%, whereas the detection efficiency determined using LVis increased by an average of at least 13-15%. The calculated radioactivity values of the certified reference material and reference material samples were accurate to within 3% and 6% of the measured values, respectively.
In this study, an airborne alpha detection system, which consists of a passivated implanted planar silicon (PIPS) detector and an air filter, was developed. A collimator applied to the alpha detection system showed an enhancement in resolution and a degradation in detection efficiency. The resolution and detection efficiency were compared and analyzed to evaluate the performance of the collimator. Thus, the resolution was found to be more important than the efficiency as a determining factor of the detection system performance, from the viewpoint of radionuclide identification. The performance was evaluated on three properties of the collimator: hole shape, hole length, and the ratio between the hole and frame pitches. From the hole shape performance evaluation, a hexagonal collimator showed the highest resolution. Further, the collimator with a hole pitch of 14 mm was found to have the highest resolution while that with a frame pitch of 4-6 mm (i.e., 1.2-1.4 times longer than the hole pitch) showed the highest resolution.
The chatter behaviour in endmilling is a complex and nonlinear phenomenon, so it is very difficult to detect and diagnose this chatter phenomenon, This paper presents new method for the detection of chatter in endmilling operation based on the wavelet transform. In this paper, the fundamental property of the wavelet transform is reviewed by comparing the spectrum of other algorithm such as FFT. This result using wavelet transform shows the possibiling of the chatter detection in endmilling operation.
