The Design of a Low Power and Wide Swing Charge Pump Circuit for Phase Locked Loop (넓은 출력 전압 범위를 갖는 위상동기루프를 위한 저전압 Charge Pump 회로 설계)

  • In this paper, a new circuit is proposed to minimize the charging and discharging current mismatch in charge pump for UWB PLL application. By adding a common-gate and a common-source amplifier and building the feedback voltage regulator, the high driving charge pump currents are accomplished. The proposed circuit has a wide operation voltage range, which ensures its good performance under the low power supply. The circuit has been implemented in an IBM 0.13um CMOS technology with 1.2V power supply. To evaluate the design effectiveness, some comparisons have been conducted against other circuits in the literature.

  • With the continuous performance improvement and commercialization of HTS wires, there have been many efforts to commercialize HTS power cables recently. Unlike conventional power cables, a cryogenic cooling system is required for a HTS power cable and a cryogenic pump is one of the essential components to circulate subcooled liquid nitrogen and cool the HTS power cable. Especially, the development of a reliable and high-efficiency cryogenic pump is an important issue for the commercialization of HTS power cables of several kilometers or more. In this study, we designed and fabricated a cryogenic pump for subcooled liquid nitrogen with a mass flow rate of 1.2 kg/s, a differential pressure of 5 bar, and evaluated the hydraulic performance of the pump. Impeller design was conducted to meet the target design performance with 1 D analysis model and CFD analysis. The pump performance parameters such as pressure heads, mass flow rates, and efficiencies in accordance with rotating speeds were assessed using a laboratory's performance evaluation system.

  • Recently one of the automobile customer's greatest concerns is quietness in a vehicle along with various functional requirements such as comfort, stability, mobility etc. Therefore car makers place more weight on vehicle noise. Especially, in the case of diesel engine, as the noise level of engine becomes more silent by the development of engineering technology. The noise of alternator with vacuum pump has been able to be noticed enough becoming an issue on vehicles. In this study vacuum pump noise on alternator was identified andclassified into five types. DOE was applied to induce the statistical analysis result to reduce the vacuum pump noise. It was done by subjective listening. Design and statistical analysis are done with Minitab software. This work provides dominant elements of vacuum pump noise on alternator and can be the basis of furture studies.

  • The purpose of study is a development of the high reliance electric driven water-pump that fuction is forcing the movement of water using basic design, proto sample and test at the cooling system. It was important to supply a coolant quickly and accurately for the requirement of flow rate at the system when we carried out the designs for BLDC Moter, Controller and water pump(Impeller, Volute Casing, Sealing Device) First, we attained ours purpose that the target efficiency for water pump was over 40% and then we are doing the optimum design for Brushless Motor and Controller that its target is over 55% of efficiency.

  • Pump which is the fundamental device in the hydraulic system affects on overall system performance to a great deal. Such problems as leakage and solid friction loss become important in field applications, especially for the case of operation under high pressure and at high speed. So the research on this kind of subjects is necessary to improve the performance of hydraulic devices. A high pressure radial piston pump is analyzed here, which has a stationary cylinder block. It pumps hydraulic fluid by letting camring push a piston in a cylinder. Fluid leaks between the piston and cylinder so that it deteriorates the pump efficiency. Furthermore, the piston happens to touch the cylinder wall to increase the friction loss and wear. In this research, by means of FDA, volumetric, mechanical and overall efficiencies are observed by varying several design parameters and operation conditions. Design values or their trends are presented to improve these effciencies.

Ion Pump Design for Improved Pumping Speed at Low Pressure

  • Even if ion pumps are widely and mostly used in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions, virtually every existing ion pump has its maximum pumping speed around 1E-6 mbar (1E-4 Pa). Discharge intensity in the ion pump Penning cell is defined as the current divided by pressure (I/P). This quantity reflects the rate of cathode bombardment by ions, which underlies all of the various pumping mechanisms that occur in ion pumps (chemisorption on sputtered material, ion burial, etc.), and therefore is an indication of pumping speed. A study has been performed to evaluate the influence of magnetic fields and cell dimensions on the ion pump discharge intensity and consequently on the pumping speed at different pressures. As a result, a combination of parameters has been developed in order to design and build an ion pump with the pumping speed peak shifted towards lower pressures. Experimental results with several different test set-ups are presented and a prototype of a new 200 l/s ion pump with the maximum pumping speed in the 1E-8 mbar (1E-6 Pa) is described. A model of the system has also been developed to provide a framework for understanding the experimental observations.

  • An oxidizer pump of a turbopump for a 30-ton class gas generator cycle engine was tested in the medium of liquid oxygen. The turbine was driven by cold hydrogen gas in the test. The oxidizer pump was operated stably at both design and off-design conditions, satisfying the performance requirements. The pump head coefficient from the liquid oxygen test was 2~3% lower than that from the water test. The power required to run the oxidizer pump was well balanced with the power produced by the turbine.

  • This paper presents a method of the optimum design for rotating shaft of centrifugal pump. That is, the object is to optimize the system in stability at the operating speed, unbalance response in the vicinity of the rotor critical speed, leakage flow of the seals. The objective function is composed of these three elements and is minimized by changing seal cleareance, diamoters, and lengths. A typical double suction centrifugal pump is analyzed and its objective function is presented. Then the optimum dimensions of seals are obtained, and vibration characteristics at both initial and optimum conditions are investigated.

  • Basic simulation program for Vuilleumier cycle heat pump was developed that can use precise VMHP design and analysis. VMHP system was divided 11 sections in simulation. Simulation was used adiabatic model analysis and that considered with heat transfer performance for heat exchanger, regenerator loss, conduction loss, shuttle loss, pumping loss and pressure loss by flow friction. Specially, friction loss of connection pipe between heat compression side and heat pump side, leakage of rod seal and piston seal was considered in the analysis.
