In so doing, it suggests the ways in which public services can be innovated from a design-oriented perspective. Background: As citizens' social and cultural awareness of services is enhanced, there have been emerging needs for innovation of public services. Accordingly, the methods of service design which is to design holistically users' experiences have been considered as an important means to innovate public services. Method: In this regard, the present paper introduces and explores the example of the Design Dive Workshop as a platform whereby service design is achieved. In particular, it analyzes the results of the workshop. Results: The paper presents the results of the workshop and the 10 possible scenarios of public services that were explored in the workshop and suggests models for empowering the workshop participants. Conclusion: Service design is a very effective methodology for providing a new perspective on user-oriented design of public services. The workshop had educational effects on enhancing the participants' awareness of the role of public service design. Application: The Design Dive workshop contributed to improving public services and achieved positive educational results. • The purpose of this paper was to study interior design research trend through categorizing the research in interior design process and investigating the research method used at each stage of the process. The ultimate aim was to evaluate the relationship of design process and interior design research and to indicate the guide line of future research. As results of the study, interior design research did not reflect recently increasing renovation and remodeling trend since evaluation research was less performed than data collection, program and design development research. Only educational/research space showed higher rate in evaluation research. In recent years, interior design research is interested in objective design problem solving since programming research Increased, and in user-participation planning since questionnaire and interview research Increased as data collection method. For the future research, it is expected researchers to show creative thinking process on the stage of design development and to develop various research method on the stage of evaluation.

  • Today the social concern about Interior Design gradually requires wide comprehension. Also according to demanders' requirement. Colleges cope with speed. Interior Design made by experts for the function and purpose in the conception of decoration. Therefore, Colleges are responsible to educate for more capable professional designers. But management is the first concern for Interior Design Company students are going to work at. Interior Design has not the important state yet in Korea, it is hard to manage the company with only design works on the table. As architectural design side must get some admission, design is apart from construction. but they are worked together in Interior Design. Also, as the architectural design with process detail drawings, interior design is required the detail design for construction. But it is the facts that the college is interested in and concentrated on rather education for design and space plan than intensive education for construction because of the restricted environment of practice room. I propose component and practical use of nude construction department to understand detailed design.

  • I suggested the design learning environment based on affordance concept approach for supporting and improving learners' behavior and outcome for convergent design education in this study. The design learning space should be applied teaching and learning activity, especially learners' behavior, physical space condition to support the design thinking process. The design learning space needs openness, individuality and connectivity to support the learners' behavioral to immerse, participate, cooperate, understand, think and fulfill the design thinking process. The composition principles of the learning environment for convergent design education supports communication and collaboration among members for independence and interaction. The spaces for design research and teaching needs high privacy while facilitating visual communications through special materials and wall structure design. Also, for connectivity to improve the learners' physical and visual contact, the environment of the classrooms requires flexibility and mobility by providing an open space integrating unit cells for realizing learning purpose. These are provided by formed of an open structure for inducing visual communication and physical contact to involve the design activities and the mutual interchange.

  • This study aims to inquire into the expressive characters of philippe stark's works regarding his design concept. This study examines Philippe stark's design works except for furniture design. It also looks into the modern design trend, France design trend, background of his growth and people who have influenced him. Firstly, this study examines Philippe stark's five design works after 1997. Second, the study is going to analysis the fact between his interior design and furniture projects to read their mutual relation. As a result from this study, first, the understanding of Philippe stark's works in harmony with the dynamics of technology and aesthetics can provide his design languages, characteristics and current design trend. Second, Philippe stark can create unfamiliar space through experimental though and imagination. The study present data on Philippe stark and puts forwards the significance of his works and tries to lead the way of the relation interior design and furniture.

  • Design variables for suspension systems cannot always be realized in the actual suspension systems due to tolerances in manufacturing and assembly processes. In order to deal with these tolerances, design variables associated with kinematic configuration and compliance characteristics of suspensions are treated as random variables. The reliability of a design target with respect to a design variable is defined as the probability that the design target is in the acceptable design range for all possible values of the design variable. To compute reliability, the limit state, which is the boundary between the acceptable and unacceptable design, is expressed mathematically by a limit state function with value greater than 0 for acceptable design, and less than 0 for unacceptable design. Through reliability analysis, the acceptable range of design variables that satisfy a reliability target is specified. Furthermore, through sensitivity analysis, a general procedure for optimization of the design target with respect to the design variables has been established.

  • It was the purpose of this study that propose architectural design process through analysis of concepts considering regional characteristics. The procedure of this study was as follows : First, classifying design process through investigating paper-survey and case studies. And We would investigate representation process of design concepts applied to design competitions entries. Finally, we would investigate design process applied to buildings in various districts. In the results, we could find that domestic architects were applying to site plan, floor plan, elevation plan, section plan and mass plan-led design process to express design concepts. And according to survey on buildings in various districts, we could verify that architects were applying various design process to express design concepts according to site characteristics. These results could help architects to design appropriately, according to site characteristics.

  • One of the design methods which emulates the engineering design process, the configuration design methodology, is applied to the design process of paper feeding mechanism which handles paper in a laser beam printer. Components of a paper feeding mechanism should be designed not to incur vibration to paper and to keep paper flat when transferring. Hybrid knowledge representation is used where the design methods and experience is represented as rules, design parts are represented as objects according to the functions within the printer feeding mechanisms Reliability of design can be improved by referencing various design constraints concurrently.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an architectural design process adopting design concepts with weight on them. The process of the study is as follow; First, design concepts for the study are classified by the hierarchy. Developing process of those design concepts which had been adopted for a creative thinking was investigated. Second, after putting different weight on diverse design concepts, this study propose a design process adopting design concepts with different weight. Finally, the proposed process adopting design concepts with weight was verified through a case study of elementary school project. The case study was carried out by questionnaires 3 times. Experimental results verified the hypothesis which was about the process adopting design concepts with different weight. Architects can precede their design process with confidence about setting design concepts by the result of this study.

  • The purpose of Computer Aided Design is to design good products as quickly as possible. To do this, it is important to reuse the old designs and build on them. Most engineering designers, therefore. hale studied methods for reusing old designs, and the results of their study hale been applied to new designs Unfortunately, this only involves reuse of geometric data without design knowledge. If they can design products with the geometric data, including design knowledge, of the old designed and share them through the Internet, design efficiency will be improved. In other words, one way to improve designer's productivity is to share design information that includes knowledge and scattered data across design offices. This paper introduces a shared design environment with distributed knowledge-base. A product design environment based on distributed knowledge-base is proposed, which integrates the CORBA, OLE and WWW as the network architecture, a 3D CAD system, and an expert system shell. A design example of the lens barrel of a projection television is implemented to verify the idea.
