  • The characteristic of sheet metal process is the few loss of material during process, the short processing time and the excel lent price and strength. The sheet metal process with above characteristic is common used in industrial field, but in order to analysis irregular field problems the reliable and economical analysis method is demanded. Finite element method is very effective method to simulate the forming processes with good prediction of the deformation behavior. Among Finite element method, the static-implicit finite element method is applied effectively to analyze real-size auto-body panel stamping processes, which include the forming stage. In this paper, it was focused on the drawing ability factors on auto-body panel stamping by AUTOFORM with using tool planning alloy to reduce law price as well as high precision front Design Optimization of die. According to this study, the results of simulation will give engineers good information to access the Design Optimization of die.

  • In this paper a useful method on evaluating the joint stiffness of a bolted member was introduced using optimization technique on the basis of Finite Element Method. A finite element model having one directional gap element at boundary area was introduced to compensate the prying force in jointed members which might be caused by geometrical configuration of members. Results showed a good agreement with classical method in certain range and will be available to define the appropriate design margin of pre-load design.

  • The study is focused on the extraction of design consideration for non territorial workplace though the analysis of the workers satisfaction. Though the application of investigating method, at the first stage survey, satisfaction of non-territorial workplace user and the non territorial workplace design considerations are figured out. In addition the appraisal items are arranged and all of the factors were identified to influence the entire satisfaction in statistically meaningful levels. The first order of the design consideration for non-territorial workplace was evaluated as 'Psychological Element', 'Service Element', 'Mutual Interchange Action', 'Individual Working Element', 'Work Efficiency', 'Physical Element', respectively. Therefore the considerations are extracted based on the workers satisfaction and it need to be most focused on Psychological Element' among other things for non territorial workplace.

  • This paper is intended to improve efficiency of two-phase BLDC motor using analytical and statistical methods, and then the stability of the starting for the designed model is investigated. The characteristics of the motor according to magnetization directions of permanent magnet are analyzed through the analytical method, and design variables that affect the efficiency are selected. Preliminary optimal design is performed using the analytical method with the design variable. The RSM (Response Surface Method) based on the FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is applied to complement errors of the analytical method. As a result, the optimal design is determined. Finally, the stability of the starting for the optimal designed model is evaluated by analyzing cogging torque, and it is verified through the FEA.

  • In this study. a 1-3 piezo-composite single element ultrasonic transducer was designed with a commercial finite element analysis (FEA) code. PZf1ex and developed based on this design. Design with FEA could be performed overcoming many constraints of the typical theoretical method, and also was very practical. Validity of the design with the FEA was illustrated through experimental characterization of fabricated 1-3 piezo-composites and ultrasonic transducers, Through comparison with the result of the theoretical method. we confirmed the superiority of the design method using FEA.

  • Optmal topology design is to search the optimal layout of the structure which can be used fot the shape of the conceptual design stage. Our objective is to maximize the stiffness of the structure under a material usage constraint. The density of each finite element is the design variable and its relationship with Young's modulus is expressed by quadratic form. The shape is represented by the entire density distribution, the structural analysis is performed by finite element method and the optimization is achieved by feasible direction method. Unlike optimality criteria method, feasible direction method can handle various problems simultaneously, that is, multi- objectives and multi-constraints. Total optimization time can be reduced by the approximation of the material property and fewer design variables than homogenization method. Topology optimization is applied to design the shape of ribs.

  • For transformer designers, eddy current loss calculation of steel structure is required to consider temperature rise on transformers. This study describes design of a lock plate for converter transformers by finite element method. The lock plate may be locally heated by fringing flux due to air-gap. 3D finite element analysis is performed and compared so as to minimize eddy loss on the lock plate with different materials and structures

  • A curved beam is one of the basic and important structural elements in structural design. In this paper, the authors formulated the computational algorithm for analyzing the free vibration of curved beams using the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method. The concept of the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method is the combination of the modeling technique of the finite element method and the transfer technique of the transfer stiffness coefficient method. And, we confirm the effectiveness the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method from the free vibration analysis of two numerical models which are a semicircle beam and a quarter circle beam.
