이종금속간의 결합방법에 따른 결합강도에 관한 비교 연구 (Comparative analysis on mechanical properties of gold and Co-Cr dental alloys due to joining methods)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate their mechanical properties after laser-welding or soldering of precious and non-precious dental alloys. For this study, 30 Co-Cr alloy specimens, 15 gold alloy specimens, 15 palladium alloy specimens were casted and seperated on the middle area. 15 sperated Co-Cr specimens and 15 seperated gold alloy specimens were laser welded (GW Group). 15 sperated Co-Cr specimens and 15 sperated gold alloy specimens were soldered by coventional soldering method (GS Group). 15 sperated Co-Cr specimens and 15 seperated palladium alloy specimens were laser welded (PW Group). 15 sperated Co-Cr specimens and 15 sperated palladium alloy specimens were soldered by coventional soldering method (PS Group). Tensile strength, 0.2% yield strength, % elongation were recorded in nine specimens of each group. Bending strength were record in six specimens of each group. These data for four groups were subjected to a two-way analysis of variance(ANOVA). The fracture locations, fractured surfaces were examined by SEM(scanning electron microscope). The results were as following: 1) In the same alloy combination, the tensile strength and 0.2% yield strength and of the laser welded group with same metal combination were significantly less than soldered groups(p<0.05). 2) In the combination of Co-Cr/Palladium, the bending strength of laser welded group were significantly less than that of soldered groups(p<0.05). In the combination of Co-Cr/Gold, the bending strength of laser welded group were significantly higher than that of soldered groups(p<0.05). 3) In the same method of joint, the tensile strength and 0.2% yield strength and bending strength of the Co-Cr/gold were significantly higher than Co-Cr/palladium(p<0.05). 4) There was no significantly statistical difference between each group in the % elongation(p>0.05). 5) The fracture of the laser welded specimens occured in the welding area and a large void was observed at the center of the fracture surface. 6) The fracture of the soldered specimens occured also inthe soldered area and many porpsities were showed at the fracture sites.

도재용 금합금 재사용에 따른 변연 적합도에 관한 연구 (A study on the marginal fitness to reuse with a Au-Pt-Pd alloy for porcelain fused to metal crown)

  • This experimental study was to determine the fitness in each cervical margin of reusing porcelain gold alloy. The gold alloy used in this experimental study was a Au-Pt-Pd alloy (BDCG-898, Bukwang Inc, Korea) for the fabrication of porcelain fused to metal crown. Twenty-five copings were divided into the five groups. And the group A, B, C, D and E were cording successively according to the frequency of reuse to five times. Each specimen was reused without adding new metal. The experimental results were as follows: 1. The group A, B, C showed good fitness in each cervical margin. 2. The group D got good fitness in labio and linguo cervical margin, but the mesio and disto cervical margin showed more than $40{\mu}m$ 3. The group E showed worse fitness than the other groups in each cervical margin.

도재소부용 저금함유금합금에서 도재계면의 표면거동에 미치는 미량원소 In의 영향 (Effect of In on Surface Behaviors of Porcelain-Metal Boundary in Low Gold Porcelain Alloys)

  • This study was carried out by observing to composition of oxide on the surface of dental porcelain low gold alloy with various Indium additions according to the degassing and analysing the change composition of additional elements In on diffusion behaviors of Porcelain-matal surface. The specimens used were Au-Pd-Ag alloys by small indium addition. These specimens were treated for 10min at $1000^{\circ}C$ in vacuum condition. To investigate the microsturcture of oxidized alloy surface, SEM and EDAX were used, and EPMA were used to investigate the diffusion behaviors of porcelain-metal surface. X-ray diffraction were used to observe the morphological changes in the oxidation zone. The results of this study were obtained as follows ; 1) The hardness of alloy increased with increasing amount of In addition. 2) The formation of oxidation increased with increasing In content after heat treatment. 3) Diffusion of indium elements increased with increasing In content in metal-porcelain surface after firing. 4) The oxidations of alloy surface were mainly $In_2O_3$.

치과용 금합금의 표면처리에 따른 교정용 브라켓의 전단결합강도 변화 (Change of shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets according to surface treatment on dental gold alloy)

  • 치과용 금합금에 브라켓을 부착하는 경우 자연치에 비하여 낮은 결합강도를 보이며, 잦은 브라켓 탈락이 나타나고 있는 바, 본 연구는 여러 가지 금합금 표면처리 방법이 교정용 레진 접착제와 금합금 간의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향을 평가하여 금합금과 브라켓 간의 부착강도 증진방법을 모색하고자 시행하였다. 치과용 금합금으로 주조된 240개의 시편을 표면처리 유무 및 방법에 따라 무처리, 샌드블라스팅 단독처리, 샌드블라스팅과 주석도금 병용처리, 그리고 샌드블라스팅과 중간접착제 병용처리의 4가지 경우와, Ortho-one, Panavia 21, Superbond C&B의 3가지 레진접착제의 조합에 의해 12군으로 나누어 브라켓을 부착하였다. 시편을 증류수에 담아 $37^{\circ}C$ 항온 수조 속에서 24시간 동안 보관한 후, 만능물성 시험기를 이용하여 전단결합강도를 측정한 후 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 치과용 금합금의 표면을 처리하지 않은 경우에 비하여 표면처리한 군에서 통계적으로 유의하게 높은 전단결합강도가 나타났다. 2. 샌드블라스팅 단독처리에 비하여 주석도금 병용처리를 시행한 경우 Panavia 21에서만 유의한 결합강도 증가가 나타났다. 3. 샌드블라스팅 단독처리에 비하여 중간접착제 병용처리를 시행한 경우 모든 접착제에서 유의한 결합강도 증가가 나타났다. 4. 사용된 레진접착제에 따른 전단결합강도를 비교한 결과 Superbond C&B가 가장 높고 그 다음으로 Panavia 21, Ortho-one 순으로 나타나는 양상을 보였다. 이상의 결과는 금합금 표면에서 브라켓 부착강도를 증가시키기 위해서는 레진접착제 종류에 관계없이 샌드블라스팅과 중간접착제 병용처리가 필요함을 시사하였다.

티타늄과 비귀금속 합금에 중간층으로 적용한 Au bonding agent의 금속-도재 결합에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of Bond Strength in cp-Ti and Non-precious Metal-Ceramic System Using a Gold Bonding Agent)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of using a Au bonding agent applied on cp-Ti and nonprecious metal-gold-ceramic system. Metallic frameworks(diameter: 5mm, height: 20mm)(N=56, n=7per group) cast in Ni-Cr alloy, Co-Cr alloy and cp-Ti were obtained using acrylic templates and airborne particle abraded with $110{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. Au bonding agent was applied on wash opaque firing as intermediate layer. SEM and SEM/EDS line profile were performed on the cutting the cross-section of the metal substrate-porcelain with intermediate Au coating. Groups were tested using shear bond strength(SBS) testing at 0.5mm/min. The mean SBS values for the ceramic-Au layer-metal combination were significantly higher than those ceramic-metal combination. While ceramic-Au layer-cp-Ti combinations failed to increase bond strength instead of using a titanium bonding porcelain. The appication of using Au intermediate layer significantly improve the bond strength combination with metal-ceramic system.

A Study of mechanical properties of oxide layer removed Co-Cr-Mo abutments

  • PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the oxide layer removal process in the Co-Cr-Mo (CCM) abutment after casting procedure on the prosthesis settlement and screw stability. MATERIALS AND METHODS: CCM abutments of four different interface conditions (CCM-M; machined, CCM-O; oxide layer formed, CCM-B; blasted, CCM-P; polished after blasted) and gold abutment (Gold-C; Cast with type III Gold alloy) were used. The initial settling values of abutments were evaluated according to the difference of implant-abutment length when the tightening torques were applied at 5 Ncm and 30 Ncm, and the settling values of abutments caused by loading were evaluated according to the difference of implant-abutment length before and after loading with 250 N, 100000 cycle. The loss ratios of removal torque for abutment screws were evaluated according to the difference in value of removal torques under 30 Ncm tightening torque applied before and after cyclic loading. RESULTS: The CCM-P and CCM-B group showed a higher initial settling value compared with the Gold-C group (P<.05), while the Gold-C group showed the highest settling values caused by loading (P<.05) and no significant differences were observed for between CCM groups (P>.05). The loss ratio of removal torque values for the CCM-B, CCM-P groups did not differ significantly from that of the Gold-C group (P>.05). CONCLUSION: Even though the oxide layer was removed by different methods, CCM abutment with internal conical connection structure showed lower abutment settling and similar screw loosening after cyclic loading compared with gold abutment.

도재소부용 금합금에서 인듐, 주석 첨가가 금속-도재계면 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Indium and Tin on Interfacial Property of Porcelain Fused to Low Gold Alloys)

  • This study was performed to observe the micro-structure change of surface, behavior of oxide change of element, the component transformation of the alloy and the bonding strength between the porcelain interface in order to investigate effects of indium, tin on interfacial properties of porcelain fused to low gold alloy. Hardness of castings was measured with a micro-Vicker's hardness tester. The compositional change of the surface of heat-treated specimen was analyzed with an EDS and an EPMA. The interfacial shear bonding strength between alloy specimen and fused porcelain was measured with a mechanical testing system(MTS 858.20). The results were as follows: 1) The hardness value of alloy increased as increasing amount of indium addition. 2) The formation of oxidation increased as increasing indium and tin contents after heat treatment. 3) Diffusion of indium and tin elements increased as increasing indium and tin contents in metal-porcelain surface after porcelain fused to metal firing. 4) The most interfacial shear bonding strength was increased as increasing a composition of adding elements, and a heat-treatment time, and an oxygen partial pressure. From the results of this study it was found that the addition of alloying elements such as indium and tin increase hardness of as-cast alloy, produce surface oxide layer of adding elements by heat-treatment which may improve interfacial bonding strength between alloy and porcelain.

임플랜트 지대주 재료에 대한 치은 섬유아세포의 반응 (ATTACHMENT AND PROLIFERATION OF HUMAN GINGIVAL FIBROBLASTS ON THE IMPLANT ABUTMENT MATERIALS)

  • Purpose: The biocompatibility and bio-adhesive property of a dental implant abutment are important for proper soft tissue healing and maintenance of osseointegration of implant. However, studies of soft tissue healing and mucosal attachment of various materials of implant abutment other than titanium are still needed. In this study, cell attachment, proliferation, cytotoxicity of human gingival fibroblast for ceramic, gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy and, commercially available pure titanium as a control were evaluated, using MTS and scanning electron microscopy. Materials and Methods: Specimen was designed to disc, 4mm diameter and 1mm thickness, made of ceramic, gold alloy, Ni-Cr alloy and commercially available pure titanium. Primary culture of human gingival fibroblasts were grown in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium with 10% fetal bovine serum and 1% antibiotics. Cells were inoculated in the multiwell plates placed the specimen disc. Cell Titer 96 AQucous One Solution Cell Proliferation Assay were done after 1hour 3hours, 24hours, 3days, 5days of incubation. The discs were processed for scanning electron micrography to evaluate cell attachment and morphologic change. Results: The results were obtained as fellows. 1. The ceramic showed high cell attachment and proliferation and low cytotoxicity, which is as much bioadhesive and biocompatible as titanium. 2. The gold alloy represented limited proliferation of human gingival fibroblast and the highest cytotoxicity among tested materials (p<0.05). 3. The Ni-Cr alloy limited the proliferaion of the human gingival fibroblast compared to titanium(p<0.05) but cytotoxicity on the bottom of well was not so considerable, compared to titanium. 4. On the scanning electron micrographs , the ceramic showed good attachment and proliferation of human gingival fibroblast, which was similar to titanium. But gold alloy and Ni-Cr alloy showed the shrinkage of gingival fibroblast both after 24 hours and 3 days. On 5th day, small amount of the human gingival fibroblast proliferation was observed on the Ni-Cr alloy, while the shrinkage of gingival fibroblast was still observed on the gold alloy. Conclusions: These results suggest that the ceramic abutment is as biocompatible as titanium to make proper mucosal seal. The gold alloy has a high cytotoxicity to limit proliferation of gingival fibroblast, which suggest limited use on the anterior tooth where soft tissue healing is recommeded.

임플란트-지대주-나사의 적합에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE FIT OF THE IMPLANT-ABUTMENT-SCREW INTERFACE)

  • Statement of problem : There have been previous studies about considerable variations in machining accuracy and consistency in the implant-abutment-screw interfaces. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the machining accuracy and consistency of implant/abutment/screw combinations on two randomly selected implants from each of four manufactures. Material and methods : In this study, screws were respectively used to secure a cemented abutment, to a hexlock implant fixture ; teflon coated titanium alloy screw(Torq-Tite) and titanium alloy screw in Steri--Oss system, gold-plated gold-palladium alloy screw(Gold-Tite) and titanium alloy screw in 3i system gild screw ana titanium screw in AVANA Dental Implant system, and titanium screws in Paragon System. The implants were perpendicularly mounted in polymethyl methacrylate autopolymerizing acrylic resin block(Orthodontic resin, Densply International Inc. USA) by use of dental surveyer. Each abutment screw was secured to the implant with recommended torque value using a digital torque controller. Each screw was again tightened after 10 minutes. All samples were cross sectioned with grinder-polisher unit(Omnilap 2000 SBT Inc) after embeded in liquid unsaturated polyester (Epovia, Cray Valley Inc) Results : There were the largest gaps in the neck areas of screws in hexagonal extension implants which were examined in this study. The leading edge of the abutment screw thread (superior surface) was in contact with the implant body thread, and the majority of the contacting surfaces were localized to the middle portion of the mating threads. Considerable variation in the contacting surfaces was noted in the samples evaluated. Amounts of contact in the abutment screw thread were larger for assemblies with Gold-Tite screw, gold alloy screw. Torq-Tite screw than those with titanium screws. The findings of intimate contact between the screw and screw seat were seen in all samples, regardless of manufacturers. However, microgap between the head and lateral neck surface of the screw and the abutment could be dectected in all samples. The findings of intimate contact between the platform of the implant and the bottom of the abutment were consistent in all samples, regardless of manufacturers. However, microgaps between the lateral surface of external hex of the fixture and the abutment could be dectected in all samples. Conclusion : Considerable variations in machining accuracy and consistency were noted in the samples and the implant-abutment-screw interfaces were incomplete. From the results of this study, further development of the system will be required, including improvements in pattern design.

Age-Hardening Behavior and Structural Changes in a Commercial Dental Au-Ag-Cu-Pd Alloy

  • The age-hardening behavior and the structural changes in a commercial dental Au-Ag-Cu-Pd alloy were investigated by means of hardness test, optical and scanning electron microscopic observation, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study. The drastic reduction in hardness by prolonged aging occurred after a rapid increase in hardness at the initial stage by the isothermal aging at $350^{\circ}C$. This softening was due to the broad precipitates formation of the lamellar structure which was composed of the f.c.t. AuCu I ordered f.c.t. phase containing Pd and the f.c.c. Ag-rich $\alpha$1 solid solution f.c.c.phase containing Au.
