Smart Diesel Generator Control System

  • This paper introduces a user-friendly PLC (programmable logic controller) monitoring and control system of heavy machinery using Android based smartphone. The proposed system will control diesel generator and many such like machine without a dedicated PC with respect to similar system and offers a new communication protocol for handling it. The smartphone controls the generator via Wi-Fi, through which it connects to the Raspberry pi which will be installed in the PLC panel to setup the communication between them. Furthermore, Raspberry pi connects to two devices, one is PLC which gives the status and current information of the machine and to ON/OFF the machine. This proposed system used RS485 as a key mediator for data exchanging between Raspberry PI(master) and PLC(slave). RS485 allows multiple devices (up to 32) to communicate at half duplex on single pair of wires and provides a long connectivity area (up to 1200 meters) as compared to another device. This proposed system specially focused on accurate data flow between smartphone and PLC panel.

  • This paper presents the design and project of an innovative concept for a Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) Machine. Nowadays, equipment currently available for conducting SPIF result mostly from the adaptation of conventional CNC machine tools that results in a limited range of applications in terms of materials and geometries. There is also a limited market supply of equipment dedicated to Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF), that are costly considering low batches, making it unattractive for industry. Other factors impairing a quicker spread of SPIF are large forming times and poor geometrical accuracy of parts. The following sections will depict the development of a new equipment, designed to overcome some of the limitations of machines currently used, allowing the development of a sounding basis for further studies on the particular features of this process. The equipment here described possesses six-degrees-of freedom for the tool, for the sake of improved flexibility in terms of achievable tool-paths and an extra stiffness provided by a parallel kinematics scheme. A brief state of the art about the existing SPIF machines is provided to support the project's guidelines.

  • 전용 목적의 임베디드 자바 시스템은 일반적으로 프로그램을 이루는 모든 클래스 파일들이 호스트 컴퓨터 상의 ROMiaer에 의해 하나의 ROM 이미지로 변형되고, ROM에 적재된 이미지를 임베디드 시스템의 자바가상기계가 실행하는 모델을 따른다. 제한된 크기의 메모리 자원과 낮은 성능의 프로세서를 갖는 임베디드 시스템에서는 이 ROM 이미지를 어떤 형식으로 정의하는가 하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 그 형식에 따라 원래의 클래스 파일보다 휠씬 적은 크기의 메모리 만으로도 전체 클래스 정보를 담을 수 있게 되며, 또한 클래스 내부 정보에 신속하게 접근할 수 있게 되기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 simpleRTJ라고하는 임베디드 자바가상기계에서 구현된 ROMizer와, 특히 그것이 생성하는 RON 이미지의 형식에 대해 분석해보았다. 분석 결과 ROMizer는 원래 클래스 파일에 비해 절반 이상의 메모리 절감 효과를 얻게 하며, 최대 6배 이상의 속도로 클래스 내부 정보를 접근할 수 있게 하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구의 결과는 ROM 기반의 임베디드 자바 시스템을 위한 보다 효율적인 ROMizer 의 개발에 적용되어질 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

자동변속기 클러치 디스크 마찰특성의 실험적 분석 (Experimental Analysis of an Automatic Transmission Clutch Disk Friction Characteristics)

  • Wet clutches in an automatic transmission enable the transmission of the engine power by the frictional torque experienced and noted between disk and plates. Since the clutch frictional torque considerably affects the shift quality of an automatic transmission as well as the durability of the machinery, its friction characteristics must be carefully examined to meet the design requirements. The SAE No. 2 friction test machine is a well-known standard to evaluate mainly the friction characteristics of plate clutches along with the required automatic transmission fluids. This paper reviews the experimental analysis of the wet clutch friction characteristics by using the exclusively developed clutch test machine which is capable of controlling the clutch test procedure, in accordance with the applicable test standard and processing of the experimental data automatically. As the clutch test machine is designed for the accommodation of dual clutches which is applied to the real transmission, it can evaluate not only the clutch friction characteristics, but also an actuation performance of a measured clutch piston. In respect to friction characteristics involving dynamic friction coefficients, the energy absorbed in a clutch disk and the recorded temperatures of clutch plates during braking actions and procedures are also investigated. Additionally, the change of friction coefficients by the use of the repeated clutch application is also observed with the endurance test functions of an accurately calibrated and dedicated clutch test machine.

Development of simulation-based testing environment for safety-critical software

  • Recently, a software program has been used in nuclear power plants (NPPs) to digitalize many instrumentation and control systems. To guarantee NPP safety, the reliability of the software used in safetycritical instrumentation and control systems must be quantified and verified with proper test cases and test environment. In this study, a software testing method using a simulation-based software test bed is proposed. The test bed is developed by emulating the microprocessor architecture of the programmable logic controller used in NPP safety-critical applications and capturing its behavior at each machine instruction. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated via a case study. To represent the possible states of software input and the internal variables that contribute to generating a dedicated safety signal, the software test cases are developed in consideration of the digital characteristics of the target system and the plant dynamics. The method provides a practical way to conduct exhaustive software testing, which can prove the software to be error free and minimize the uncertainty in software reliability quantification. Compared with existing testing methods, it can effectively reduce the software testing effort by emulating the programmable logic controller behavior at the machine level.

웹기반 화상 감시 시스템의 구현 (An Implementation of Image Security System Based on Web)

  • 기존의 전용선을 사용하는 화상 감시 시스템의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 인터넷을 이용한 3계층 웹기반 화상 감시 모델을 제안하고 시스템으로 구현하였다. 개발된 시스템은 3계층 웹기반 분산제어 모델을 채택함으로써 기존의 중앙 집중제어 방식의 시스템 안정성 문제를 해결하였고, 원격 웹브라우저에서 그룹으로 등록된 복수의 화상 감시 싸이트(Site)를 인터넷을 통해 원격제어 및 자동감시가 가능하다. 또한 자바 가상 기계(Java Virtual Machine) 코드와 가상 인스트루먼트(Virtual Instrument) 개념에 의한 운용 소프트웨어 설계로 다양한 종류의 컴퓨터와 OS에서도 운용이 가능하다. 또한 인터넷을 통한 네트워크 구성이므로 별도의 네트워크 구축비용이 들지 않으며, 웹서버를 사용한 운용 소프트웨어의 배포 및 보수 유지가 이루어지므로 소프트웨어 갱신 등에 따른 관리의 효율성을 크게 개선 할 수 있다.

  • Mechatronic subsystems are more and more developed in automotive industries. To enhance the local controls performances, a cooperative control between ABS and Suspension systems is proposed. The respective controls are first designed separately with their dedicated models. Then a hybrid hierarchical architecture is developed. The advantage of this architecture is discussed through vehicle performance with simulation results.

  • To meet the requirements of high performance and reliability as a industrial motor drive, we developed an integrated oil-line fault diagnosis and monitoring system which consists of DSP-based controller and PC-based MMI (Man-machine interface) program. The dedicated controller performs real-lime fault detections and protections. The MMI program monitors the on-line fault status of the drive system and offers full explanations of the fault name(WHAT?), deducible causes of the fault operation(WHY?), and chock points (HOW?) based upon the experiences of the expert. Also the TRACE data which was stored just before and after the accident can be scrutinized using MMI tools.

가중납기지연시간을 고려한 최적 주문처리순서에 관한 연구 (Scheduling Orders for Minimizing Total Weighted Tardiness)

  • This paper considers an order scheduling model to minimize the total weighted tardiness of orders. Each order requires different types of products. Each type of product is manufactured on its dedicated machine specified in advance. The completion time of each order is represented by the time when all the products belonging to the order are completed. The objective of this paper is to find the optimal production schedule minimizing the total weighted tardiness of a finite number of orders. In the problem analysis, we first derive a powerful solution property to determine the sequence of two consecutive orders. Moreover, two lower bounds of objective are derived and tested along with the derived property within a branch-and-bound scheme. Two efficient heuristic algorithms are also developed. The overall performances of the proposed property, branch-and-bound and heuristic algorithms are evaluated through various numerical experiments.
