  • Vector field has been commonly used to visualize the data set which is invisible or is hard to explain. For instance, it could be used to visualize scientific data such as the direction and amount of wind and water field, transfer of heat through thermally conductive materials, and electromagnetic field. In this paper, we present a technique to enable intuitive recognition of the data though haptic feedback along with visual feedback. To add tactile information to graphical vector field, we model a haptic vector field and then apply it to the haptic map to guide a user to destination and haptic simulation of water field on 2D images whish can be used ill everyday life. These systems allow one to recognize vector information intuitively through haptic interface. We expect that the haptic rendering technique of vector field can be applied to various applications such as education, training, and entertainment.

  • This paper proposes a new reseeding methodology using a variable-rank multiple-polynomial linear feedback shift register (MP-LFSR). In the proposed reseeding scheme, a test cube with large number of specified bits is encoded with a high-rank polynomial, while a test cube with a small number of specified bits is encoded with a low-rank polynomial. Therefore, according to the number of specified bits in each test cube, the size of the encoded data can be optimally reduced. A variable-rank MP-LFSR can be implemented with a slight modification of a conventional MP-LFSR and Multiple Polynomial can be represented by adding just 1 bit to encoding data. The experimental results on the largest ISCAS'89 benchmark circuits show that the proposed methodology can provide much better encoding efficiency than the previous methods with adequate hardware overhead.

  • This paper introduces a new efficient design scheme for spatial multiplexing (SM) systems over closed loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless channels. Extending the orthogonalized spatial multiplexing (OSM) scheme which was developed recently for transmitting two data streams, we propose a new SM scheme where a larger number of data streams can be supported. To achieve this goal, we partition the data streams into several subblocks and execute the block-diagonalization process at the receiver. The proposed scheme still guarantees single-symbol maximum likelihood (ML) detection with small feedback information. Simulation results verify that the proposed scheme achieves a huge performance gain at a bit error rate (BER) of $10^{-4}$ over conventional closed-loop schemes based on minimum mean-square error (MSE) or bit error rate (BER) criterion. We also show that an additional 2.5dB gain can be obtained by optimizing the group selection with extra feedback information.

  • Purpose - The purpose of the study is to analyze the empowerment intermediary role on the relationship between the job distribution and the quality of life. A research on empowerment and social service staffs' job distribution also should be conducted to improve the quality of their lives. Because empowerment, particularly, affects the quality of life, it should be taken a detail discussion for empowerment improvement. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper conducted a questionnaire survey. In total, 722 copies of the structural questionnaire were analyzed. Five parameter subsets were selected to measure the empowerment such as task significance, role performance capability, self-determination, task impact, then, the survey consists of 10 questions. For data analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, discriminant and concentration validity analysis, path coefficient significance, and mediation effectiveness verification were employed. Results - As evidenced from the data analysis, job distribution variables such as job impact, job autonomy, and feedback affect the quality of their lives. Empowerment also affects the quality of their lives. Next, the empowerment functions as meditating role in the relationships with job impact, job autonomy, feedback and the quality of their lives. On the other hand, the empowerment do not function as meditating role in the relationships with social service staffs' function diversity and the quality of their lives. Conclusions - It is necessary to conduct ways for various job performance and outside educational facilities to improve social service staffs' function diversity. The mission, vision, strategic purposes, detailed execution goals need to be set by all their organization members' participation. Empowerment also requires social welfare facilities' drastic delegation on their authority and responsibilities with their active decentralization in the organization.

  • Computing thinking is regarded as one of the important skills required in the 21st century, and many countries have introduced and implemented computing thinking training courses. Among computational thinking education methods, educational game-based methods increase student participation and motivation, and increase access to computational thinking. Autothinking is an educational game developed for the purpose of providing computational thinking education to learners. It is an adaptive system that dynamically provides feedback to learners and automatically adjusts the difficulty according to the learner's computational thinking ability. However, because the game was designed based on rules, it cannot intelligently consider the computational thinking of learners or give feedback. In this study, game data collected through Autothikning is introduced, and game score prediction that reflects computational thinking is performed in order to increase the adaptability of the game by using it. To solve this problem, a comparative study was conducted on linear regression, decision tree, random forest, and support vector machine algorithms, which are most commonly used in regression problems. As a result of the study, the linear regression method showed the best performance in predicting game scores.

  • Processes in the real-time distributed control systems share a network medium to exchange their data. Performance of feedback control loops in the real-time distributed control systems is subject to the network-induced delays from sensor to controller, and from controller to actuator. The network-induced delays are directly dependent upon the data sampling times of control components which share a network medium. In this study, an algorithm of determining data sampling times is developed using the "window concept". where the sampling datafrom the control components dynamically share a limited number of windows. The scheduling algorithm is validated through the aimulation experiments.

  • A conventional pseudorandom sequence generator creates only 1 bit of data per clock cycle. Therefore, it may cause a delay in data communications. In this paper, we propose an efficient implementation method for a pseudorandom sequence generator with parallel outputs. By virtue of the simple matrix multiplications, we derive a well-organized recursive formula and realize a pseudorandom sequence generator with multiple outputs. Experimental results show that, although the total area of the proposed scheme is 3% to 13% larger than that of the existing scheme, our parallel architecture improves the throughput by 2, 4, and 6 times compared with the existing scheme based on a single output. In addition, we apply our approach to a $2{\times}2$ multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) detector targeting the 3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution (3GPP LTE) system. Therefore, the throughput of the MIMO detector is significantly enhanced by parallel processing of data communications.
