  • For modeling skewed semicircular data, we derive new family of the exponential distributions. We extend it to the l-axial exponential distribution by a transformation for modeling any arc of arbitrary length. It is straightforward to generate samples from the f-axial exponential distribution. Asymptotic result reveals two things. The first is that linear exponential distribution can be used to approximate the l-axial exponential distribution. The second is that the l-axial exponential distribution has the asymptotic memoryless property though it doesn't have strict memoryless property. Some trigonometric moments are also derived in closed forms. Maximum likelihood estimation is adopted to estimate model parameters. Some hypotheses tests and confidence intervals are also developed. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is adopted for goodness of fit test of the l-axial exponential distribution. We finally obtain a bivariate version of two kinds of the l-axial exponential distributions.

  • Information on the distribution of the basic random variables is essential for the accurate evaluation of structural reliability. The usual method for determining the distribution is to fit a candidate distribution to the histogram of available statistical data of the variable and perform appropriate goodness-of-fit tests. Generally, such candidate distributions would have two parameters that may be evaluated from the mean value and standard deviation of the statistical data. In the present paper, a-parameter Gamma distribution, whose parameters can be directly defined in terms of the mean value, standard deviation and skewness of available data, is suggested. The flexibility and advantages of the distribution in fitting statistical data and its significance in structural reliability evaluation are identified and discussed. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate these advantages.

  • This study collected the latest 30-year (1976~2005) continuous rainfall data hourly recorded at 61 meterological observatories in Korea, and the continuous rainfall data was divided into individual rainfall events. In addition, distribution charts of average rainfall event-depth were created to facilitate the application to the overflow risk-based design of detention storage basin. This study shows that 4 hour is appropriate for SST (storm separation time) to separate individual rainfall events from the continuous rainfall data, and the one-parameter exponential distribution is suitable for the frequency distribution of rainfall event depths for the domestic rainfall data. The analysis of the domestic rainfall data using SST of 4 hour showed that the individual rainfall event was 1380 to 2031 times, the average rainfall event-depth was 19.1 to 32.4mm, and ranged between 0.877 and 0.926. Distribution charts of average rainfall event-depth were created for 4hour and 6 hour of SST, respectively. The inland Gyeongsangbuk-do, Western coastal area and inland of Jeollabuk-do had relatively lower average rainfall event-depth, whereas Southern coastal area, such as Namhae, Yeosu, and Jeju-do had relatively higher average rainfall event-depth.

  • Purpose: This study identifies how twelve key success factors of distribution strategies for community enterprises in Thailand achieve higher performances. Research design, data, and methodology: The samples in this study were 400 entrepreneurs throughout the country. The instrument for data elicitation was a questionnaire. The descriptive and inferential statistics for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-Test, F-Test, multiple regression, and multiple correlations. Results: The results revealed that, overall, the samples showed high opinions on online distribution strategies in all aspects. In detail, the three highest factors were as follows: 1) electronic satisfaction, 2) product characteristics and electronic trust, and 3) the quality and success in online distribution. In detail, the three highest aspects of online distribution success were customer loyalty, financial performance, and work management, respectively. The online distribution strategies influencing community enterprises' success were electronic trust, electronic loyalty, social information, electronic satisfaction, and online distribution tools, which had a statistical significance of 71. Conclusions: This research has made an essential contribution to community enterprise entrepreneurs should focus on and adopt these 8P+4ODS concepts to increase sales, maintain brand loyalty of existing customers, get new customers, develop learning, and improve the working potentials of community enterprise entrepreneurs.

  • A generalization of gamma distribution is defined by slightly modifying the form of Kobayashi's generalized gamma function(1991). We define a new extended gamma distribution and study some properties of this distribution.

  • In this paper the single and product moments of order statistics of the doubly truncated Rayleigh distribution are studied. Some recurrence relations of order statistics are derived. Using order statistics, also characterization of the Rayleigh distribution are derived.
