  • This study was based on nitrate chemical accidents at home and abroad. Toxic gases due to adverse reactions are generated in the workplace, laboratory, hospital, container damage, and chemical misinjection. Through a case review of possible situations and safety, this study analyzed various cases of accidents, accident status, accident type, cause of the accident, location of the accidents, etc. from 2014 to 2018. The plans for improvement in education and nitrate accidents were reviewed. As a result, 36 nitrate chemical accidents were investigated, including 16 careless worker accidents, eight transportation accidents, and 12 facilities shortages. Nitrate chemical accidents are occurring continuously. Based on this, the range of toxic effects using CARIS was calculated at the worst-case scenario, and the effective response range was measured through the damage impact range. For this purpose, the impact range was predicted based on the strengthening of safety education, emergency action plan and correlation, and the quantified data was identified. In addition, the reliability of the scope of impact was reviewed based on the correlation formula that could facilitate the evacuation of residents, and it was applied to actual accident scenarios of the workplace to present the effects of the accident response and preventive measures.

  • It is very difficult to export the fresh agricultural products to long distance countries such as USA and EU without any damage. Fresh products exporting would overcome very severe conditions such as hot and cold weather changes, heavy vibrations with rolling and pitching during the target distribution period, therefore, the packaging needs the immobility of products in the container and the keeping its quality by packaging materials or methods under any surrounding environments, especially. The physical strength of outer box should be designated according to its own characteristics for agricultural product packaging. Packaging dimension which would be fit to standard pallet is also very important factor to reduce the distribution cost. There have been many agricultural products researches for export packaging to the USA so far. However they have never got desirable results which enough to apply it in real. The main purpose of this research is to develop optimum compressive strength and optimum dimension of corrugated fiberboard box which would be used to USA export packaging of fresh melon as well as Japan.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess quantitatively the amount of leaks and the extent of dispersion in case of a leak at a hydrogen fluoride tank container unloading station, and to suggest a safety improvement plan to prevent recurrence of similar accidents. In 2012, Company H leaks 8 tonnes of tank containers with a maximum storage capacity of 18 Ton, causing it to become a social issue. As a result of calculation using Gaussian plume model, the concentration was estimated to be more than 20ppm from the leak point to 1,321 m radius. The leakage of hydrogen fluoride from the company R in 2014 was estimated to be 11.02 kg, of which 2.9 kg was treated by the scrubber. As a result of calculation using Gaussian plum model, the damage range with a concentration of 20ppm or more from the leak source was estimated to be 69 m in radius. As a result of comparing the above two accidents, it was found that the leakage amount was about 987 times different and the damaged site was more than 19 times different. Therefore, it was concluded that it was necessary to control the wearing of the protective equipment, the enclosure of the unloading site, the installation of the scrubber, and the emergency training to avoid the accidental leakage of a hydrogen fluoride from the unloading site.

  • A study on the variation of the air temperature in the pine mushroom box containing dry ice for the preservation of the freshness of the pine mushroom, Tricholoma matsutake (Ito et Imai) Sing. produced in Korea was made in Seoul, Korea during the period of August 1 to 30, 1975. A safe shipment of 5 kg (net weight) of fresh mushrooms with freshness preserved for 24 hours in August required the placement of 4.5 kg of dry ice-a half in the upper portion and the other half in the middle portion-in an airtight container (mushroom box). The container used for the shipment test, made of 3mm-thick double-layer cardboard, was of the dimensions : $0.33{\times}0.4{\times}0.5=0.066(m^3)$. As the temperature fell, decreased amounts of dry ice were needed : 3 to 2 kg in September and 1.5 to 0.3 kg in October. With this preservation method, large quantities of fresh mushrooms were exported to Tokyo ana Osaka, Japan without damage in the process of transportation.

  • This paper deals with accuracy of accumulated fatigue damage estimation using stochastic fatigue analysis method based on Rayleigh PDF. From full scale measurement data on an 8100TEU container vessel, zero-order spectral moments for wave- and vibration-induced energy spectral densities are determined on the probability level of 99%. 80 simulation cases in total are prepared according to the variation of ratio of zero-order spectral moments and center frequency of vibration ESD. By using inverse Fourier transformation and rainflow cycle counting for the combined ESD of wave and vibration, exact fatigue damages are derived. Fatigue damages in frequency domain based on Rayleigh PDF show large conservativeness compared to exact fatigue damages in times domain. The main cause of the excessive conservativeness is analyzed by two aspects: ratio of zero crossing and peak frequencies and ratio of initial zero order spectral moments and zero order spectral moments from rainflow stress range distributions. Finally, a guideline of applicability of Rayleigh PDF is proposed for wide band processes.

  • When soft soils are effected by unsymmetrical surcharge due to embankement and abutements of a bridge, large plastic sheraring deformations such as settlements, lateral displacements, upheavals and sliding shearing failure in the soils occurred and they have often damaged considerabily to the soils and structure. This study examines the existing theoretical background for the behavior of the displacement of soils by unsymmetrical surcharge on the soft soils and compares the analytical results to the actual measurements performed through the model test. The procedures of model test are that a model stock device is made and soft soils are filled in a container which fixes the soils. Then the displacements observed when surcharge load increa ses by regular interval at undrainage condition. It analyzes the relation of soil characteristics to displacement, critical surcharge and ultimate bearing capadty, condition of plastic flow and lateral flow pressure, comparing them with the existing theories. Understanding the causes of lateral displacement in soft soils due to unsymmetrical surchages will prevent a damage in advance.

  • We propose a 3D modeling method for surface inspection of non-linear moving object. The laser lines reflect the surface curvature. We can acquire 3D surface information by analyzing projected laser lines on object. ill this paper, we use multi-line laser to make use of robust of single stripe method and high speed of single frame. Binarization and channel edge extraction method were used for robust laser line extraction. A new labeling method was used for laser line labeling. We acquired sink information between each 3D reconstructed frame by feature point matching, and registered each frame to one whole image. We verified the superiority of proposed method by applying it to container damage inspection system.

  • It is conducted to analyze vibration loads on the 1st stage of KSR-III(KSR : Korea Sounding Rocket) during their ground transportation and various handling process. These loads may be different from the real flight environment. Inadequate assessment of these loads can cause not only local damages on the rocket system but also the critical problem like flight mission failure. Therefore, transportation and handling loads must be considered during design and attenuated to ensure that the rocket structural damage does not occur. This work is concerned with the generation of criteria and prediction of transportation and handling loads for KSR-III. The results show that the shipping container is well designed to satisfy the design requirements. The maximum vibration level recorded during whole transportation and handling for KSR-III is less than 2g, the criteria of KSR-III movement condition.

  • Purpose: The characteristics of in-transit vibration stress and possible damage to packaged apples were examined. Methods: A simulated transportation environment with a specific power density profile was used for vibration impact experiments to determine the resulting decrease in packaged apple quality. Apples with or without vibration stress were stored at low temperature ($5{\pm}0.8^{\circ}C$, 75-85% relative humidity) for 30 days. Statistically significant differences (p ${\leq}$ 0.05) were found between apples with and without vibration stress for concentration of oxygen ($O_2$; 11.2% and 14.1%, respectively; initially $29{\pm}0.4%$), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$; 26.4% and 21.8%; initially $1{\pm}0.2%$), and ethylene (79.4 ${\mu}LL^{-1}$ and 55.6 ${\mu}LL^{-1}$; initially $14.1{\pm}0.6{\mu}LL^{-1}$) in the headspace of a gas-collecting container after 30 days of storage. Results: Significant differences were also measured for apples with and without vibration stress with respect to soluble solid content (15.4% and 14.9%, respectively; initially $12.9{\pm}0.8%$ and $13.1{\pm}1.1%$), weight loss (10.1% and 8.2%), and firmness (139.7 kPa and 163.3 kPa; initially $213.8{\pm}6.2$ kPa and $209.1{\pm}7.9$ kPa) after 30 days of storage. Conclusions: The vibration stress clearly accelerated the degradation of apple quality during storage, resulting in increased weight loss, soluble solid content, and headspace $CO_2$ and ethylene production, and decreased firmness and headspace $O_2$.

  • Fruit and vegetables are subjected to complex dynamic stresses in the transportation environment. During a long journey from the production area to customers using parcel delivery service, there is always some degree of vibration present. Vibration inputs are transmitted from the vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. Inside, these cause sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and container wall. These steady state vibration input may cause serous fruit injury, and this damage is particularly severe whenever the fruit inside the package is free to bounce, and is vibrated at its resonance frequency. The determination of the resonance frequencies of the fruit and vegetables may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. Instrumentation and technologies are described for determining the vibration response characteristics of the fruits with frequency range 3 to 150 Hz. The resonance frequency of the pear ranged from 53 to 102 Hz and the amplitude at resonance was between 1.08 and 2.48 G. The resonance frequency and amplitude at resonance decreased with the increase of the sample mass, and they were slightly affected by mechanical properties such as bioyield deformation and rupture deformation. Regression analysis was performed among the relatively high correlated parameters from the results of correlation coefficient analysis.
