A Study on Application of Shortened TPC Algorithm for DVB-RCS NG Systems (DVB-RCS NG시스템에서 Shortened TPC 알고리즘 적용 방안에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of soft decision e-BCH codes which presented in DVB-RCS NG system. However, the performance of soft-decision decoding for e-BCH is not much improved as to increase the iterations. Therefore this paper proposed rate-compatible TPC which makes various coding rates by zero padding the row and/or column to adapt next generation (NG) DVB-RCS system. And so we proposed new model of extended BCH code and researches how to develop performance of extended BCH code.

Thermally Robust Highly Crosslinked Poly(methyl methacrylate-co-divinyl benzene) Microspheres by Precipitation Polymerization

  • We prepared thermally robust fully crosslinked poly(methyl methacrylate-co-divinyl benzene) [poly(MMA-co-DVB)]microspheres successfully by precipitation polymerization in the absence of a stabilizing agent. The DVB concentration plays a pivotal role not only in the formation of the individually stable microspheres but also in the polymerization characteristics, including the particle size, the uniformity of size, the polymerization yield, and the thermal properties. The number-average diameter of the microspheres increased linearly, from 0.72 to 2.15 $\mu\textrm{m}$, and the particle size distribution became narrower, by elevating the uniformity from 1.35 to 1.12, as the DVB concentration increased from 20 to 75 mol%. In addition, the yield of the polymerization increased, from 73.4 to 98.6%, as the DVB concentration increased. Since the prepared particles possess fully crosslinked microstructures, no glass transition temperatures were observed, but all the samples prepared with DVB concentrations ranging from 20 to 75 mol% possess enhanced thermal properties. Based on the DSC and TGA data, the thermal stability of the mesospheres prepared by the precipitation polymerization is significantly improved as a result of crosslinking with DVB.

  • The soft-decision e-BCH decoding algorithm based on the Chase algorithm is adopted in DVB-RCS NG systems. For implementation, it is necessary to decide the number of optimal quantization bits when soft-decision e-BCH decoding algorithm is processed. Also, the performance must be satisfied. Therefore, in this paper, when the soft-decision e-BCH decoder is implemented, we select the number of optimal quantization bits using BER performance.

  • We analyzed the receiving performance of the DVB-S2 transmission system in the BC(Backward Compatibility) mode. The transmitter employs the hierarchical modulation, and the receiver can be implemented by the direct demodulation or the hierarchical demodulation. The performance of each demodulation scheme is analyzed by a statistical method and a computer simulation for the AWGN and nonlinear channels. The ratio of the LP/HP streams which is proper in the domestic satellite broadcasting environments, is also suggested.

  • In this paper, the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of a DVB-T2(Second Generation Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting System) in MISO(Multiple Input Single Output) transmission mode is evaluated by the computer simulation. In the DVB-T2 receiver, an IDD(Iterative Demapping and Decoder) technique is employed that exchanges extrinsic information between the demapper and the LDPC decoder. Simulation results show that the IDD-based DVB-T2 receiver in MISO transmission mode provides 2dB gain at BER of $10^{-4}$ but suffer from the frequency offsets between transmit antennas.

  • The ion exchange resins have been synthesized from chlormethyl styrene - 1,4 - divinylbenzene(DVB) with 1%, 2%, 4% and 8%-crosslinking and 1-aza-18-crown-6 macrocyclic ligand by copolymerization method. Content of chlorine in styrene-DVB copolymer was decreased as crosslink increased and it is because as crosslink increased 1%, 2%, 4% and 8% DVB content increased and crosslink density increased and cavity was reduced. Functional group of resin almost disappeared as C-C1 peak around $700cm^{-1}$ was substituted with 1-aza-18-C-6 macrocyclic ligand and new peak of C-N around $1020cm^{-1}$ appeared, so it was confirmed that styrene-DVB copolymer and ligand were compounded. As crosslink increased in the analysis of element contents, it resulted in the reduction of nitrogen content and it is because as crosslink increased, it led to the reduction of chlorine content in the process of substitution reaction and it affected macrocyclic ligand substituted. Thermo analysis curve of functional synthetic resin decomposed three part of 1-aza-18-C-6, styrene, and DVB. Form of functional synthetic resin showed distortion of its particles as macrocyclic ligand was introduced to styrene-DVB copolymer and hydrogen of ligand caused substitution with chlorine element of styrene molecule.

  • In this paper, a DVB-T2(Digital Video Broadcasting-the 2nd Generation Terrestrial) receiver is designed under a USB-type windows environment, and the baseband frames for MPEG2-TS stream(File or Ethernet Modes) are analyzed for verifying the receiver. In addition, the performance of the BICM(Bit Interleaved Coding & Modulation) module in the receiver is analyzed in terms of PLP(Physical Layer Pipe) and L1(Layer 1) signals.

  • This paper presents an efficient demapper architecture based soft-decision using the phase-section for Digital Video Broadcasting via satellite, Second Generation (DVB-S2). To achieve the satisfactory performance under a very low SNR conditions with the efficient hardware resource utilization, we propose a simple soft-decision demapper architecture using comparators to compare the phase of symbols and memories. The proposed architecture can decrease about 81% of the hardware resource, satisfying the BER requirements of DVB-S2. It has been thoroughly verified with an FPGA board and R&S(R)SFU (Rohde&Schwarz SFU-K108) broadcaast test equipment.

  • DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)-S2 (Satellite - Second Generation) 표준은 현재 위성방송 시스템으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 표준이나, 추가적인 성능향상과 보다 다양한 응용분야에 적용하기 위해 DVB-S2 기술을 확장한 DVB-S2x (Satellite - Second Generation Extension) 시스템이 제정되었다. 그 중에서도 612,540 심볼 길이의 수퍼프레임 (Super-frame) 구조를 선택적으로 도입하여 긴 데이터 길이에 대해 스크렘블링 (Scrambling)을 적용하는 방법과 PLS (Physical Layer Signaling) 코드와 같은 참조 데이터 필드를 반복적으로 사용하는 방법 등을 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 이를 통해 동일채널 간섭 (co-channel interference)에 대한 강인성을 증가시키고, 매우 낮은 SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) 환경에서의 수신기 성능 향상 효과를 제공하게 된다 본 논문에서는 버스트 슈퍼프레임 전송 기반의 DVB-S2x 수신기를 위한 동기부를 설계하고 구조를 제안한다. 슈퍼프레임의 포맷은 DVB-S2x Annex E 의 규격 중 2 번 포맷을 이용하였으며, 2 번 슈퍼프레임 포맷은 버스트 (burst) 기반의 전송 방식에 용이한 측면이 있다. 동기부는 크게 버스트 검출부, 주파수 복구부, 신호 이득 조절부 그리고 심벌 타이밍 복구부로 구성된다.

  • 본 논문은 이동체에 대한 위성방송 및 인터넷 서비스를 지속적으로 제공하기 위해 기존의 DVB-S2 표준화에 DVB-H 와 DVB-T 를 결합한 새로운 DVB-SSP 표준화에 대한 연구를 하고 있다. 이동형 DVB-S2의 표준화는 DVB-SSP 라 불리며 최근에는 DVB-SH로 불리고 있다. 이는 이동체에 대해서 위성을 이용한 통신 방식을 규정하고 있으며, physical layer 와 upper layer 의 두 단계로 부호화 및 복호화하는 방식인 cross layer 부호화 방식을 적용하고 있다. 기존의 방식 경우, LDPC 복호후 CRC 검사를 수행하여 수신된 데이터에서 1 bit 의 오류에도 IP 패킷 모두를 삭제함으로써 복호시 비효율성을 나타낼 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 LDPC 복호기에 출력되는 LLR 값을 이용하여 IP 패킷 전체를 삭제하는 것이 아니라 LLR 값이 낮은 비트만 선택적으로 삭제하는 방식을 제안하며, 이를 시뮬레이션하여 기존의 CRC 방식과 비교하였다.
