  • Background: High risk HPV (HR-HPV) testing has been recommended as an effective tool along with cytology screening in identification of cervical intraepithelial lesions (CINs) and prevention of their progress towards invasive cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to assess the HR-HPV DNA status by Hybrid Capture 2 (HC2) assay in healthy asymptomatic women of North-East India. Materials and Methods: This study examined cervical cell samples of forty three (n=43) healthy women by HC2 assay. A High Risk HPV DNA kit (Qiagen) was used which can detect 13 high risk HPV types: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 68. Results: The mean relative light units (RLU) for samples was in the range of 141-5, 94, 619. HR-HPV DNA was confirmed in 16% (7/43) of participant women samples. Among demographic and clinical parameters, menstrual irregularity (p=0.039) and infection history (p=0.028) has shown statistically significant differences between the HR-HPV-positive and negative groups. In the HR-HPV positive group, two women were confirmed for CINs after colposcopy and histopathologic examination. Conclusions: We suggest that there may be an association between irregular menstruation and infection history of the urogenital tract with HR-HPV DNA prevalence in North-East Indian asymptomatic women. HC2 assay can be a valuable tool for HR-HPV screening.

  • The Indium modified mesoporous zeolite AlMCM-41 were synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) techniques. The Knoevenagel condensation of aldehyde with malononitrile or ethyl cyanoacetate was carried out at reflux condition in ethanol by using heterogeneous In/AlMCM-41 catalyst. This method is fast, efficient, easy work-up and eco-friendly to afford the corresponding Knoevenagel adducts. The catalyst was recovered and reused for several cycles with consistent activity.

  • The solvent extraction of platinum (IV) metal from hydrochloric acid media using 4-(4-ethoxybenzylideneamino)-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (EBIMTT) in chloroform was studied as a function of several variables, such as reagent, acid and metal ion concentration, effect of various diluents, and diverse ions. The proposed method was further applied for the separation of platinum (IV) from binary mixtures, synthetic mixtures, alloys and commercially available samples.

  • We have demonstrated a one-pot three component coupling of an aldehydes, an amines, and triethyl phosphite using 1-benzyl-3-methyl imidazolium hydrogen sulphate [bnmim][][$HSO_{4}$] as an efficient catalyst. All the reactions proceed under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. This methodology afforded the corresponding $\alpha$-aminophosphonates in shorter reaction times with excellent yields.

  • A series of isonicotinyl hydrazones and their 4-thiazolidinones have been synthesized by condensation of isonicotinic acid hydrazide with various aromatic aldehydes to yield Schiff's bases, followed by the cyclocondensation of Schiff's bases with 2-mercaptoacetic acid to yield their 4-thiazolidinones. The synthesized compounds have been characterized by their elemental, analytical and spectral studies. All these compounds were evaluated for their invitro antimicrobial activity against a spectrum of non-resistant and resistant microbial organisms. These studies proved that compounds 5e,i against B. subtilis; 5e,f,h against B. anthracis; 5g,i against S. aureus showed good activity at lower concentrations. Compounds 5d-5i displayed significant activity against resistant strain of K. pneumonia with minimum inhibitory potency in the concentration range of 2-16 ug/ml.

  • This paper is aimed to propose the design database(DB) of the inline micro-turbine for 5kW class. CFD analysis is performed to investigate the effect of a turbine on each parameter. This study showed that RadhaKrishna's data is different from the 5kW class in the low-head and the micro-turbine. Therefore, new DB for the design of inline micro-turbine for 5kW class could be needed. This study configured new design DB for the design of inline micro-turbine for 5kW class. The DB of this study showed that the optimal hub ratio(Dp/DR), the optimal body ratio(Db/DR) and the optimal range of body length ratio(Lh/DR) is 50%, 1.1 and 2.3 to 2.9, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer more accurate information in whole spine examination of 3 spot DR through the comparative study about image distortion as making the flat phantom and measuring horizontal, vertical ratio and cobb angle of the virtual. We produced $H(40cm){\times}V(116cm){\times}D(2.3cm)$ flat acrylic phantom with lattice type of lead plate. We took projection respectively 3 times, total 9 times in each equipments using manufactured phantom as changing OFD to 6, 12, 18 cm. We measured a horizontal and vertical length of lead lattice and calculated the ratio. As appointing arbitrary points in the phantom and we measured cobb angle. The results of horizontal, vertical ratio measured CR type 0.98~1.01, scan DR type 0.96~0.97 and 3 spot DR 0.99~1.01. Cobb angle measured $52.5{\sim}53.3^{\circ}$, $52.1{\sim}54.3^{\circ}$ and $52.8{\sim}53.2^{\circ}$. Finally we can say that 3 spot DR method is an accurate method without any distortion in whole spine radiography.

  • The combined structure of both an annular dielectric resonator and a quarter-wave monopole is proposed to generate an omnidirectional radiation pattern over the wideband frequency range. The monopole works at the lower frequency band and excites the cylindrical dielectric resonator along its center point by electrical coupling mechanism. The rectangular shape of the DR is cut to generate the wideband operation of 4.7-18.2 GHz. The geometrical parameter of cylindrical dielectric resonator is 5.8 mm, 11.6 mm and 6.0 mm in inner diameter, outer diameter and height, respectively.

  • To prepare oligouronic acids from high-molecular-weight alginates, sea tangle (Laminaria japonica) alginates were hydrolyzed at various pHs for 1 hr at 80$^{\circ}C$. The effects of hydrolysis pH (HpH) on the average molecular weight (AMW) and MW distribution ratios (DRs) in the hydrolyzed alginates were investigated. As HpH decreased, the DRs of the alginates with MW>500 kDa and MW=300-500 kDa decreased exponentially, while it increased exponentially for MW<50 kDa. For MW=100-300 kDa, DR increased exponentially as HpH fell from 5.0 to 3.5, and then decreased exponentially. Similarly, for MW=50-100 kDa, DR increased exponentially as HpH increased to 1.0 from 5.0, and then decreased exponentially. As HpH decreased, the MW cutoff size and AMW of alginates fraction with the highest DR were decreased. For HpH 4.5 and 5.0, the MW cutoff size with the highest DRs was MW=300-500 kDa; the DRs were 28.9 and 32.6%, respectively; and the AMW of both was about 400 kDa, for HpH 3.5 and 4.0, the cutoff size was MW=100-300 kDa; the DRs were about 28%: and the AMWs were both about 200 kDa. For HpH 3.0, the cutoff size was MW=50-100; the DR was 29.0%; and the AMW was 73 kDa. For HpH values below 2.0, the MW cutoff size with the highest DRs was MW<50 kDa, and all of the AMWs were below 28 kDa.
