  • In this paper, we propose semi-ML adaptive parallel QRDM (APQRDM) and iterative QRDM (AIQRDM) algorithms based on set grouping. Using the set grouping, the tree-search stage of QRDM algorithm is divided into partial detection phases (PDP). Therefore, when the treesearch stage of QRDM is divided into 4 PDPs, the APQRDM latency is one fourth of that of the QRDM, and the hardware requirements of AIQRDM is approximately one fourth of that of QRDM. Moreover, simulation results show that in $4{\times}4$ system and at Eb/N0 of 12 dB, APQRDM decreases the average computational complexity to approximately 43% of that of the conventional QRDM. Also, at Eb/N0 of 0dB, AIQRDM reduces the computational complexity to about 54% and the average number of metric comparisons to approximately 10% of those required by the conventional QRDM and AQRDM.

  • This paper is concerned with $H_2$ control design for active vibration control of a plate vibration system. We construct a plate vibration system with a plate, PZT ceramics actuators and sensors. The plate titration system is MIMO system and its transfer matrix is obtained by system identification experiments. We design a $H_2$ controller using the state space model obtained from system identification. Effectiveness and performance of the designed controller are verified by both simulation and experiment results.

  • In this paper, we derive analytical expressions for the exact pairwise error probability (PEP) of a space-time coded system operating over spatially correlated fast (constant over the duration of a symbol) and slow (constant over the length of a code word) fading channels using a moment-generating function-based approach. We discuss two analytical techniques that can be used to evaluate the exact-PEPs (and therefore, approximate the average bit error probability (BEP)) in closed form. These analytical expressions are more realistic than previously published PEP expressions as they fully account for antenna spacing, antenna geometries (uniform linear array, uniform grid array, uniform circular array, etc.) and scattering models (uniform, Gaussian, Laplacian, Von-mises, etc.). Inclusion of spatial information in these expressions provides valuable insights into the physical factors determining the performance of a space-time code. Using these new PEP expressions, we investigate the effect of antenna spacing, antenna geometries and azimuth power distribution parameters (angle of arrival/departure and angular spread) on the performance of a four-state QPSK space-time trellis code proposed by Tarokh et al. for two transmit antennas.

  • In full-duplex wireless communication, spectral efficiency can be improved over half-duplex communication system. In this paper, we consider full-duplex multiple-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in which inter-user interference may degrade the performance of the full-duplex system. We propose a downlink power allocation technique at base station that can maximize the spectral efficiency only with the statistical information about the inter-user interference channel.

  • Space Test Department at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) plans to carry out the GVT(Ground Vibration Test) for the KSR(Korea Sounding Rocket)-III FM(Flight Model) which is being developed by Space Technology R&D Division. KSR-III will be an intermediate to the launch vehicle capable of carrying satellites to their orbits. GVT offers very important information to predict the behavior of KSR in its operation, and to develop the flight control and aerodynamic analysis. For development of test facilities, testing and analysis methods which can be used for the future test, Space Test Department has performed the GVT with KSR-II PFM(Proto-Flight Model) at Satellite Integration & Test Center of KARl This paper discusses the procedures, techniques and the results of it. In this test, to simulate free-free condition, test object hung in the air by 4 bungee cords specially devised. The GVT was carried out using pure random excitation technique with MIMO(Multi-Input-Multi-Output) method with three electromagnetic shakers, and poly-reference parameter estimation was used to identify the modal parameters. As the result of the test, 11 mode shapes and modal parameters below 200㎐ were identified and compared with analytical results.

  • Quadrature spatial modulation (QSM) utilizes the in-phase and quadrature spatial dimensions to transmit the real and imaginary parts, respectively, of a single signal symbol. Improved QSM (IQSM) builds upon QSM to increase the spectral efficiency by transmitting the real and imaginary parts of two signal symbols using antenna combinations of size of two. In this paper, we propose a double QSM (DQSM) scheme that transmits the real and imaginary parts of two signal symbols independently through any of the transmit antennas. The two signal symbols are drawn from two different constellations of the same size with the first symbol drawn from any of the conventional modulation sets while the second is drawn from an optimally rotated version of the first constellation. The optimum rotation angle is obtained through extensive Monte Carlo simulations to minimize the bit error rate (BER) of the system. Simulation results show that for a given spectral efficiency, DQSM performsrelatively close to IQSM while requiring a smaller number of transmit antennas, and outperformsIQSM by up to 2 dB when the same number of antennas are used.

  • Dual-layer differential codebook using 8-PSK (phase shift keying) constellation as its codeword elements, is proposed for Long term evolution (LTE) and/or LTE-Advanced systems. Due to the temporal correlation of the adjacent channel matrices, the consecutive precoding matrices are likely to be similar. This approach quantize only the differential information of the channel instead of the whole channel subspace, which virtually increase the codebook size to realize more accurate quantization of the channel. Especially, the proposed codebook has the same properties of LTE release-8 codebook that is, constant modulus, complexity reduction, and nested property. The mobile station can be designed by using less expensive non-linear amplifier utilizing constant modulus property. Computer simulations show that the capacity of the proposed dual-layer codebook performs almost 1.2dB better than those of any other non-differential codebooks with the same amount of feedback information.

  • Long term evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) systems adopt closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output antenna techniques. Equal gain transmission which has equal gain property is the key factor in their codebook design. In this paper, a novel differential codebook structure which maintains the codebook design requirements of LTE or LTE-A systems. Especially, eight-phase shift keying (8-PSK) constellations are used as elements of codewords, which not only maintain equal gain property but also reduce the computation complexity of precoding and decoding function blocks. The equal gain property is very important to uplink because the performance of uplink is very sensitive to the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Moreover, the operation of the proposed differential codebook is explained as a rotation-lock structure. As the results of computer simulations, the steady-state throughput performance of the proposed codebook shows at least 0.9dB of SNR better than those of the conventional LTE codebook with the same amount of feedback information.

  • In this paper, we propose method to enhance security performance using HT-STBC with artificial noise under Wier-Tap channel model that exist with legitimate receiver and illegal eavesdropper. Conventional STBC with artificial noise scheme has a weakness that a limited increase in the BER of the difference between the receiver and an eavesdropper, when used over QPSK modulation. To solve this problem, we suggest HT-STBC combining hadamard transform and STBC with artificial noise for reduce BER of receiver than the conventional scheme and demonstrated through simulation that also increased BER difference between the receiver and an eavesdropper. By the simulation results, when used proposed scheme, showed approximately 3dB improvement in performance compared to the conventional scheme.

  • A new antenna shuffling scheme for double space time transmit diversity is proposed. The proposed method obtains the shuffling pattern directly from the estimated channel by maximizing minimum post-processing signal to noise ratio(SNR), while the conventional method minimizes channel correlation. Since the minimum post-processing SNR is directly related with error performance, the proposed method shows better bit error rate performance than the conventional method. Monte Carlo simulations showed that the proposed scheme has more 3 dB SNR gain than the conventional scheme for 10/sup -3/ bit error rate in spatially correlated fadingcaused by a single cluster model.
