There seems to be a public consensus that the content of Korean mathematics textbooks is extensive and of a high level of difficulty. However, such judgment is the result of a generalization based on individual experience or on the results from comparisons of the international levels of achievement. Therefore, a more objective and stricter approach to the determination of the quantity and level of difficulty of mathematics content is necessary. For this purpose, this study has compared the content of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school curriculums, and the Korean mathematics curriculum to textbooks of the United States, which has a considerable influence on the making of Korean mathematics textbooks. First of all, a comparison of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school mathematics curriculums showed a slight reduction in the total quantity of content, as more content was deleted than was added in the 7th curriculum. However, given the fact that the number of hours of mathematics classes has been reduced, the reduction in content cannot be regarded as anything more than a simple reflection of the reduction in hours, proving that the 7th curriculum has not met its revision objective of reducing the content by 30%. Meanwhile, the comparison of the United States junior high school mathematics textbooks to Korea's 7th curriculum showed that the 7th grade content in the United States was much broader, encompassing content which in Korea ranged from the 2nd grade of elementary school to the 2nd year of junior high school. Therefore, on the surface, it may appear that the overall level of content in the American mathematics textbook is lower than that of the Korean. However, there are several cafes, such as statistics and probability, where certain content was more difficult and introduced at an earlier grade in the United States than in Korea. In fact, it can be said that Korea students tend to find content of the mathematics textbooks to be harder than they actually are because they are delivered as a mere aggregate of algorithms, with little consideration to its application in their everyday lives. In this respect, there is much room for improvement on the mathematics textbooks of Korea.

In this study, connections between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of teacher's manual books according to it and the contents of elementary 1st grade mathematics curriculum and textbooks was analyzed to find the implications that can help to link the two curricula in the development of kindergarten and elementary school mathematics curriculum. The five following implications could be obtained from the analysis. First, it is necessary to connect the contents of the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children which were completed in that curriculum like 'spatial relation'in geometric figure domain and 'data collection'in probability and statistics domain to the contents of the 1st grade curriculum. Second, in the case of the contents not connected between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of elementary 1st grade mathematics curriculum but connected between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of elementary 2nd ~6th grade mathematics curriculum, it is necessary to re-adjust the hierarchy based on one of the curricula. Third, it is necessary to check whether $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$ obey the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children or not. Fourth, it is necessary to review the related elements of the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and elementary 2nd ~6th grade mathematics curriculum in [activity] in $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$. Fifth, it is necessary to handle the mathematics contents explicitly and systematically in [activity] in $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the research status and trends related to the industrial mathematics based on text mining techniques with a sample of 4910 papers collected in the SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics from 1970 to 2019. The R program was used to collect titles, abstracts, and key words from the papers and to analyze topic modeling techniques based on LDA algorithm. As a result of the coherence score on the collected papers, 20 topics were determined optimally using the Gibbs sampling methods. The main results were as follows. First, studies on industrial mathematics were conducted in a variety of mathematics fields, including computational mathematics, geometry, mathematical modeling, topology, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, with a focus on analysis and algebra. Second, 5 hot topics (mathematical biology, nonlinear partial differential equation, discrete mathematics, statistics, topology) and 1 cold topic (probability theory) were found based on time series regression analysis. Third, among the fields that were not reflected in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum, numeral system, matrix, vector in space, and complex numbers were extracted as the contents to be covered in the high school mathematical curriculum. Finally, this study suggested strategies to activate industrial mathematics in Korea, described the study limitations, and proposed directions for future research.
In 2006 with the revised national curriculum, Elementary mathematics teaching and learning methods are presented in the following ways. Learners explore the way through the operational activities of the teachers and students with learning and learners' active learning activities, etc., and an active learning based on the principle of attention to learning how to maximize the effectiveness are required. In this study, from first grade through sixth grade elementary school mathematics textbooks for all learning activities presented in 10 different types were investigated This result of 5 contents area of number and operation, geometry, probability and statistics, measurement and patterns and problem solving and divided into low, middle, and hight three were intentional. In addition, teachers are looking forward to this result was compared with the type of activity.
This study developed teaching and learning materials for an integrated education program of probability and genetics in the light of connections between mathematics and biological science. It also analysed characteristics of high school students' mathematical activities which appeared while the students took part in lessons where the developed materials were contributed in order to teach them. To achieve the aim, this study firstly specified five details for the development of the materials based on the results of previous research and extracted contents of probability and genetics which had the possibility of being taught in the integrated education program by examining the text books. After embodying the teaching materials according to the five details and the extracted contents, the researchers implemented 10 lessons by using the materials. This study elaborated some implications for a succeeding integrated education of mathematics and biological science in term of anlaysis results of features from the students' mathematical understanding and attitudes emerging in the lessons.
The purpose of this study is investigating the various properties related with mathematical processes in the mathematical essay lessons, analyzing the positive changes of students, and proposing an example that the mathematical essay lessons can be a model for changing traditional mathematical lessons. To carry out the research, mathematical essay questions were developed based upon the high school mathematics curriculum in probability and statistics domain. Eight 12th graders were participated for the research. Variety of properties related mathematical problem solving, reasoning, and communication in the lessons were appeared. The research conclude that mathematical essays are helpful not only appearance of general properties related mathematics process, but also appearance of properties that would be low chance of developed.
Mathematical modeling has been observed in the way of a possibility to contribute in improving students' problem solving abilities. One of the important views of real life problem context could be described such as a useful ways to interpret the real life leading to children's abstraction process. The problem contexts for the grade 6 with mathematical modeling perspectives were developed by reviewing the current 7th National Mathematics Curriculum of Korea. Those include the 5 content areas such as number & operation, geometry, measurement, probability & statistics, and pattern & problem solving. One of problem contexts, "Space", specially designed for pattern & problem solving area, was applied to the grade 6 students and analyzed in detail to understand student's mathematical modeling progress.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree to which the middle school mathematics curriculum matched the item difficulty levels of representative mathematics items. The items used in this study were developed for the National Assessment of Educational Achievement. Ranks for difficulty values of the 60 multiple-choice item were calculated via both Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory and correlated with the rank order of the mathematics content and cognitive domains sequence. There are six content domains; number and operation, algebra, measurement, figure, pattern and function, and probability and statistics. The cognitive domains include computation, understanding, reasoning and problem-solving. Results suggest a congruence between cognitive domain's sequence and item difficulty levels of items based on that sequence. This finding indicates that the linear or hierarchical assumptions concerning the sequence appears to be reasonable. The characteristics of items that were exceptions to this trend were addressed.
