  • This paper presents a low-noise low-dropout linear regulator that is suitable for on-chip integration with RF transceiver ICs. In the bandgap reference, a stacked diode structure is adopted for saving silicon area as well as maintaining low output noise characteristic. Theoretical analysis for supporting the approach is also described. The linear regulator is fabricated in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. It operates with an input voltage range of 2.2 V - 5 V and provide the output voltage of 1.8 V and the output current up to 90 mA. The measured line and load regulation is 0.04%/V and 0.46%, respectively. The output noise voltage is measured to be 479 nV/$^\surd{Hz}$ and 186 nV/$^\surd{Hz}$ from 100 Hz and 1 kHz offset, respectively.

  • An effective way to ensure that LEDs produce wanted light output is to use a current driving topology, because the brightness of LEDs is directly related to their current. However, this topology may lead to the lifetime shortening of a illumination system because over-currents may flow through non-damaged LEDs in case some LEDs are damaged. This paper presents an adaptive current control circuits for LEDs, which protect LEDs in a good state by limiting the driving currents according to the number of damaged ones. The proposed control circuits consist of a simple constant-current driver and a micro-controller which monitors the voltage of LED array without any auxiliary current sensors for fault diagnosis. And the driving current is automatically controlled into 6-levels according to the number of failures.

  • This paper presents a new current sharing control strategy for parallel-connected, synchronised three-phase DC-AC converters employing space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) without current sharing reactors. Unlike conventional control methods, the proposed method breaks the paths of the circulating current by dividing the switching cycle evenly between parallel connected equally rated converters. Accordingly, any inter-module reactors or circulating current control will be redundant, leading to reductions in system costs, size, and control algorithm complexity. Each converter in the new scheme employs a synchronous dq current regulator that uses only local information to attain a desired converter current. A stability analysis of the current controller is included together with a simulation of the converter and load current waveforms. Experimental results from a 2.5kVA test rig are included to verify the proposed control method.

  • In this paper, simple LED driver is proposed. The proposed driver has simple construction having series capacitor, bridge rectifier, and adjustable regulator IC. Constant current control is possible with the use of TL431Z. The proposed in this paper, current is greater than the rating of the load, the current controller device measures the increased current in the circuit, and turned-on so that the current will be shared. Thus current control device makes the circuit more reliable, longevity as well as increase the luminous efficacy of the LED light. The simulation and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed circuits.

  • Miller feedback compensation is introduced in a low dropout regulator (LDO) in order to obtain a capacitor-free regulator and improve the fast transient response. The conventional LDO has a limited bandwidth because of the large-size output capacitor and parasitic gate capacitance in the power MOSFET. In order to obtain a stable frequency response without the output capacitor, LDO is designed with resistor-capacitor (R-C) compensation and this is achieved with a connection between the gain-stage and the power MOS. An R-C compensator is suggested to provide a pole and zero to improve the stability. The proposed LDO is designed with the 0.35 μm CMOS process. Simulation testing shows that the phase margin in the Bode plot indicates a stable response, which is over 100o. In the load regulation, the transient time is within 55 μs when the load current changes from 0.1 to 1 mA.

  • We describe a neural stimulator front-end with arbitrary stimulation waveform generator and adaptive supply regulator (ASR) for visual prosthesis. Each pixel circuit generates arbitrary current waveform with 5 bit programmable amplitude. The ASR provides the internal supply voltage regulated to the minimum required voltage for stimulation. The prototype is implemented in $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS with HV option and occupies $2.94mm^2$ including I/Os.

A method on minimizing the power dissipation in the control element of a series D.C. voltage regutator is devised. An additional control circuit which reduces the average voltage drop across the control element according to increasing the load current is attached :o the trial phase controlled pre-regulator system. It is verified that the power dissipation in the control element is reduced up to 40% by this. circuit arrangement. The heat sink system can be simplified and the capacity of tile handling power is also increased. It is expected that this circuit arrangement can be applied to I.C. fabrication.
