The $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$ ferrite films and powders were prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the samples were examined with annealing temperature by X-ray diffraction, $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The powder samples showed the presence of spinel structure at annealing temperatures above 673 K, while the film samples indicated the spinel structure above 873 K, also the particle size increased with rising annealing temperatures. The $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectra of $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$ powder annealed above 873 K could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to ferrimagnetic phase. And the spectra of annealed at 673 K exhibited the superposition of ferrimanetic and paramagnetic phase and those of annealed at 473 K showed only a paramagnetic phase. The magnetic behaviour of powders appeared that the coercivity increased until annealed at 673 K but decreased above this temperature. The coercivity of the film samples decreased from 1.084 kOe at 873 K to 0.540 kOe at 1073 K with increasing annealing temperatures.
The crystal structure and magnetic properties of the $Ni_{1-x} Cd_xFeAlO_4$(0$\leq$x$\leq$0.5) have been investigated by means of X-ray diffractometry and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The samples($0\leq$x$\leq$0.5) have been prepared by the ceramic sintering method. The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that the crystal structure of the samples is a cubic spinel type. The lattice constant has been found by extrapolation using the Nelson- Riley function and it increases slightly from $8.321{\AA}$ to $8.410{\AA}$ with Cd concentration. The Mossbauer spectra for x<0.4 show a superposition of two sextets and a paramagnetic doublet at room temperature. The cation distribution for x=0 was determined to be $[Fe_{0.75}Al_{0.25}]^A[NiFe_{0.25}Al_{0.75}^BO_4$. The superparamagnetic doublet for x< 0.4 seems to be due to A1 ion in tetrahedral site by the superparamagnetic clustering effect.
X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) were used to investigate the influence of Ni ions on the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of nickel-ferrites ($Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$). Spinel $Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ ($x{\leq}0.96$) samples were prepared as polycrystalline thin films on $Al_2O_3$ (0001) substrates, using a sol-gel method. XRD patterns of the nickel-ferrites indicate that as the Ni composition increases (x > 0.3), a structural phase transition takes place from cubic to tetragonal lattice. The XPS results imply that the Ni ions in $Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ substitute for the octahedral sites of the spinel lattice, mostly with the ionic valence of +2. The minority-spin d-electrons of the $Ni^{2+}$ ions are mainly distributed below the Fermi level ($E_F$), at around 3 eV; while those of the $Fe^{2+}$ ions are distributed closer to $E_F$ (~1 eV below $E_F$). The magnetic hysteresis curves of the $Ni_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ films measured by VSM show that as x increases, the saturation magnetization ($M_s$) linearly decreases. The decreasing trend is primarily attributable to the decrease in net spin magnetic moment, by the $Ni^{2+}$ ($2{\mu}_B$) substitution for octahedral $Fe^{2+}$ ($4{\mu}_B$) site.
$Ni_{1-x}Mg_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite system was studied by using X-ray diffraction and $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectroscopy. The samples were prepared by ceramic sintering method with Mg content x. The X-ray diffraction patterns of samples show phase of cubic spinel structure. There are no remarkable changes of lattice constants in $Ni_{1-x}Mg_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite system. The $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra were consisted of two sets of six lines, respectively, corresponding to $Fe^{3+}$ at tetrahedral and octahedral sites. The magnetic hyperfine field of samples was decreased as increasing Mg contents x in both sites and it was shown Yafet-Kittel magnetic structure. $NiFe_2O_4$ was shown complete inverse spinel, but $NiFe_2O_4$ was shown partial inverse spinel which absorption area ratio (oct/tet) was 1.449 in $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum.
$Ni_{0.65}Zn_{0.35}Cu_{0.1}Fe{1.9}O_4$ has been studied with Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is found to be a cubic spinel with the lattice constant $a_0=8.390{\AA}$. Mossbauer spectra of $Ni_{0.65}Zn_{0.35}Cu_{0.1}Fe{1.9}O_4$ has been taken at various temperatures ranging from 12 K to 705 K. The isomer shift indicates that iron ions are ferric at tetrahedral [A] and octahedral sites [B], respectively. The Neel temperature is determined to be $T_N=705\;K$. As the temperature increases toward $T_N$ a systematic line broadening effect in the Mossbauer spectrum is observed and interpreted to originate from different temperature dependencies of the magnetic hyperfine fields at various iron sites. The quadrupole splitting just on $T_N$ is 0.41 mm/s whereas the quadrupole shift below $T_N$ vanishes. This implies that the orientation of the magnetic hyperfine field with respect to be principal axes of the electric field gradient is random.
The properties of electrical resistance of Mn-Co-Ni-Fe oxide-based thermistor with various Fe contents in sintering process at $1200^{\circ}$ to $1400^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours in air atmosphere for fabricating thermistor materials were investigated. The results were as follows: all samples showed single cubic spinel crystal structures in all region. The electrical conductivity is the highest thermistor sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. In general when the Fe content is increased except F-2, the resistivity increases and relatively the conductivity decreases. Particularly F-2 composition exhibited the highest electrical conductivity (1.4${\times}$$10^-3$${\textohm}cm) and relatively low B constant(2906K)
$MgFe_2O_4$ has been studied with X-ray diffraction, M ssbauer spectroscopy and vibration sample magnetometer (VSM). The crystal structure of the sample is found to have a cubic spinel structure with a lattice constant of $a_0=8.390$\pm$0.005$\AA$.$ The iron ions at both A (tetrahedral) and B (octahedral)sites are found to be in ferric high-spin states. Its Neel temperature TN is found to be 710$\pm$3 K. The Debye temperature for the A and B sites found to be 417$\pm$5 K and 331$\pm$5 K., respectively. Atomic migation from the A to the B sites starts near 425 K and increases rapidly with increasing temperature to such a degree that 31% of the ferric ions at the A sites have moved over to the B sites by 600 K.
Chromium-doped zinc ferrite nanoparticles with the general formula CryZnFe2-yO4 (y = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1) were synthesized by a surfactant-assisted chemical co-precipitation route using metal nitrate salt precursors. The phase purity and structural parameters were determined by powder X-ray diffraction. The concentration of Cr3+ doped into ZnFe2O4 (ZF) noticeably affected the crystallite size, which was in the range of 22 nm to 36 nm, and all samples showed a single cubic spinel structure without any secondary phase or impurities. The lattice parameter, X-ray density, and skeletal density increased with an increase in the Cr-doping concentration; on the other hand, a decreasing trend was observed for the particle size and porosity. The influence of Cr3+ substitution on ZF magnetic properties were studied under an applied field of 15 kOe. The overall results revealed that the incorporation of a small amount of Cr dopant changed the structural, electrical, and magnetic properties of ZF.
Spinel-$Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was successfully synthesized by a solid-phase method at 800, 850, and $900^{\circ}C$ according to the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ cubic spinel phase structure. To achieve higher EDLC energy density with the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$, the negative electrode of the hybrid supercapacitor was studied in this work. The electrochemical performances of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC were characterized by constant current discharge curves, c-rate, and cycle performance testing. The capacitance (1st cycle) of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC was 209 and 109 F, respectively, which is higher than EDLC. The capacitance of the hybrid supercapacitor decreases from 209 F to 101 F after 20 cycles when discharged at several specific current densities ranging from 1 to 10 A. In contrast, capacitance of the EDLC hardly decreases after 20 cycles. Results show that hybrid supercapacitor benefits from the high rate capability of supercapacitor and high capacity of the battery. Findings also prove that the hybrid supercapacitor is an energy storage device where the supercapacitor and the Li ion secondary battery coexist in one cell system.
Nickel substituted cobalt-zinc ferrite nanoparticles with composition Co0.5Zn0.5NixFe2-xO4 (x = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) were synthesized using a wet chemical method named citrate precursor method. Various characterizations of the prepared nanoferrites were done using X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV visible spectroscopy and Fourier transform spectroscopy technique (FT-IR). XRD confirmed the formation of cubic spinel structure of the samples with single phase having one characteristic peak at (311). The value of optical band gap (Eg) was found to decrease with Ni substitution and have values in the range 2.30eV to 1.69eV. A Fenton-type system was created by photocatalytic activity using source of visible light for removal of methylene blue dye. Observations revealed increase in the degradation of methylene blue dye with increasing nickel content in the samples. The degradation percentage was increased from 77.32% for x = 0.25 to 90.16% for x = 1.0 in one hour under the irradiation of visible light. Also, the degradation process was found to have pseudo first order kinetics model. Hence, it can be observed that synthesized nickel doped cobalt-zinc ferrites have good capability for water purification and its degradation efficiency enhanced with increase in nickel concentration.
