  • We show the existence of at least one nontrivial solution of the homogeneous mixed type nonlinear elliptic problem. Here mixed type nonlinearity means that the nonlinear part contain the jumping nonlinearity and the critical growth nonlinearity. We first investigate the sub-level sets of the corresponding functional in the Soboles space and the linking inequalities of the functional on the sub-level sets. We next investigate that the functional I satisfies the mountain pass geometry in the critical point theory. We obtain the result by the mountain pass method, the critical point theory and variational method.

  • A nonlinear theory is presented for the fluctuations of intermediates in the Brusselator near the critical point caused by diffusion. The method used is the two time scaling method different from the conventional method in the sense that a slight nonlinear effect is included in the initial time region where the linear approximation is conventionally valid. The result obtained by the nonlinear theory shows that fluctuations close to the critical point approach the value of a stable steady state or deviate infinitely from an unstable steady state, as time goes to infinity, while the linear theory gives approximately time-independent fluctuations. A brief discussion is given for the correlation at a time between fluctuating intermediates when the system approaches a stable steady state.

  • The turning point is one of the more evocative concepts in the critic's arsenal, as it is equally suited to the evaluation and analysis of a given moment in one's day as to those of a historical event. But how does one recognize a turning point? As we find ourselves always "in the middest," both spatially and temporally, we inhabit sites that may be points at which many things may be seen to turn. Indeed, it is usually only possible to identify a turning point, as it were, from a distance, from the remove of space and time which allows for a sense of recognition, based in part on original context and in part of perceived effects. In this article, Robert T. Tally Jr. argues that the apprehension and interpretation of a turning point involves a fundamentally critical activity. Examining three models by which to understand the concept of the turning point-the swerve, the trope, and peripety (or the dialectical reversal)-Tally demonstrates how each represents a different way of seeing the turning point and its effects. Thus, the swerve is associated with a point of departure for a critical project; the trope is connected to continuous and sustained critical activity in the moment, and peripety enables a retrospective vision that, in turn, inform future research. Tally argues for the significance of the turning point in literary and cultural theory, and concludes that the identification, analysis, and interpretation of turning points is crucial to the project of criticism today.

  • Let ${\Omega}$ be a bounded subset of $R^n$ with smooth boundary and H be a Sobolev space $W_0^{1,2}({\Omega})$. Let $I{\in}C^{1,1}$ be a strongly definite functional defined on a Hilbert space H. We investigate the conditions on which the functional I satisfies the Palais-Smale condition. Palais-Smale condition is important for determining the critical points for I by applying the critical point theory.

  • We show the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for a class of the systems of the nonlinear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary condition under some conditions for the nonlinear term. We obtain this result by using the variational linking theory in the critical point theory.

  • We get a theorem which shows the existence of at least four $2{\pi}$-periodic weak solutions for the bifurcation problem of the Hamiltonian system with the superquadratic nonlinearity. We obtain this result by using the variational method, the critical point theory induced from the limit relative category theory.

  • In this article, we consider a fourth order nonlinear difference system. By making use of the critical point theory, we obtain some new existence theorems of at least one periodic solution with minimal period. Our main approach used in this article is the variational technique and the Saddle Point Theorem.

  • This paper is concerned with the existence of solutions to the following fractional differential inclusion $$\{-{\frac{d}{dx}}\(p_0D^{-{\beta}}_x(u^{\prime}(x)))+q_xD^{-{\beta}}_1(u^{\prime}(x))\){\in}{\partial}F_u(x,u),\;x{\in}(0,1),\\u(0)=u(1)=0,$$ where $_0D^{-{\beta}}_x$ and $_xD^{-{\beta}}_1$ are left and right Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals of order ${\beta}{\in}(0,1)$ respectively, 0 < p = 1 - q < 1 and $F:[0,1]{\times}{\mathbb{R}}{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{R}}$ is locally Lipschitz with respect to the second variable. Due to the general assumption on the constants p and q, the problem does not have a variational structure. Despite that, here we study it combining with an iterative technique and nonsmooth critical point theory, we obtain an existence result for the above problem under suitable assumptions. The result extends some corresponding results in the literatures.

  • We show the existence of a nontrivial periodic solution for the superquadratic parabolic equation with Dirichlet boundary condition and periodic condition with a superquadratic nonlinear term at infinity which have continuous derivatives. We use the critical point theory on the real Hilbert space $L_2({\Omega}{\times}(0 2{\pi}))$. We also use the variational linking theorem which is a generalization of the mountain pass theorem.
