A criterion is developed for the, selection of the best pairing of the control and manipulated variables and for the interaction analysis of decentralized multi-input multi-output control systems. This criterion is based on the difficulty caused by the interaction terms in finding the in-verse of the block steady gain matrix. A quantitative measure of the best pairing is obtained from the resemblance of a set of independent block multi-loop systems. Several examples show the validity of the pairing criterion.

In developing a multiple regression relationship, independent variables are frequently measured with error. For these situations the problem of estimating unknown parameters has been extensively discussed in the literature while little attention has been given to the prediction problem. In this paper a criterion is developed for assessing the severeness of measurement errors in each independent variable on the predicted values. Using the developed criterion we can present a guideline as to which measurement error should be controlled for a more accurate prediction. Proposed methods are illustrated with a standard data system in work measurement.

This report investigates the road lighting systems by using the road lighting simulation system which is the 'Lightscape', and compares the result of the simulation with criterion of the road lighting system. The solution of that is almost equal to the criterion of the road lighting system. With this simulation, we hope to accurately investigate the criterion of the road lighting systems and design the road lighting systems effectively.

In this paper, we consider the second order probability matching criterion for the ratio of the variance components under the one-way random effect model. It turns out that among all of the reference priors given in Ye(1994), the only one reference prior satisfies the second order matching criterion. Similar results are also obtained for the intraclass correlation as well.

We propose a criterion for testing homogeneity of matrix intraclass covariance matrices of K multivariate normal populations, It is based on a variable transformation intended to propose and develop a likelihood ratio criterion that makes use of properties of eigen structures of the matrix intraclass covariance matrices. The criterion then leads to a simple test that uses an asymptotic distribution obtained from Box's (1949) theorem for the general asymptotic expansion of random variables.

With the rapid growth of internet traffic, accurate and reliable prediction of internet traffic has been a key issue in network management and planning. This paper proposes an autoregressive-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (AR-GARCH) error model for forecasting internet traffic and evaluates its performance by comparing it with seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models in terms of root mean square error (RMSE) criterion. The results indicated that the seasonal AR-GARCH models outperformed the seasonal ARIMA models in terms of forecasting accuracy with respect to the RMSE criterion.

We consider the comparison of two one-parameter exponential distributions with the complete data as well as the type II censored data. We adapt Bayesian test procedure for nested hypothesis based on the Bayesian reference criterion. Specifically we derive the expression for the Bayesian reference criterion to solve our problem. Also we provide numerical examples using simulated data sets to illustrate our results.

In this paper, it proposes the efficient iterative decoding stop criterion using the variance value of LLR. It is verifying that the proposal iterative de-coding stop criterion can be reduced the average iterative decoding number. The proposal algorithm md hardware synthesize to use the Synopsys Tool, performance validations perform through the ModelSim.

In this paper, we treat image segmentation as a graph partitioning problem. and use the normalized cut for segmenting the graph. The normalized cut criterion measures both the total dissimilarity between the different graphs as well as the total similarity within the groups. The minimization of this criterion can formulated as a generalized eigenvalues problem. We have applied this approach to segment static image. This criterion can be shown to be computed efficiently by a generalized eigenvalues problem

The D-optimal design criterion for precise parameter estimation in nonlinear regression analysis is called the determinant criterion because the determinant of a matrix is to be maximized. In this thesis, we derive the gradient and the Hessian of the determinant criterion, and apply a QR decomposition for their efficient computations. We also propose an approximate form of the Hessian matrix which can be calculated from the first derivative of a model function with respect to the design variables. These equations can be used in a Gauss-Newton type iteration procedure.
