  • In this paper, we estimate correlation dimensions of discrete quasi periodic ordits with frequencies, irrational numbers, which are called quasi Roth numbers. We specify the lower estimate valuse of the dimensions by using the parameters which are derived the rational approximable properties of the quasi Roth numbers.

  • The interrelationships between growth rates (and size) of the selected cranifacial dimensions and body dimensions (height and weight) were investigated in the longitudinal data of primary school children from 6 to 11 years of age. The data were obtained from serial cephalometric radiographs and health record which were taken at one year interval. Regression analyses were used to analyze the data. The main concludions might be summarized as follows; 1. Size relationships between body height (and weigh) and S-Gn, posterior facial height (s-Go), total mandibular length (Ar-Gn) showed high significant correlation, but no association between body height, weight and anterior cranial base length (S-N). 2. Correlation coefficients between facial dimensions and body height (and weight) were getting lower with age increase. 3. At all age groups, significant prediction equation for some facial dimensions with body height and weight were obtained. 4. In this sample, the growth rates of facial dimensions and body height and weight showed almostly constant during this age period and the growth rate of body height and weight of girls was exceeded that of boys. 5. A relatively high degree of variation between individuals existed in the sample. 6. A positive correlation was found for the relationship between the growth rates of facial dimensions and those of body height (and weight) in boys and girls, but was not found in total samples.

  • This study estimates the correlation dimensions of the land-sea breeze phenomenon, that has a clear diurnal cycle, in order to gain a more detailed understanding of this phenomenon. The data adopted include north-south wind velocity component(v) and temperature(T) time series that were observed at Kimhae Airport and Inje University over a period of 5 days, from the 4th to the 8th of August, 1994. The embedding phase space of the time series were reconstructed from 2 to 14 dimensions, and the correlation dimensions of the attractors were then estimated. The results show that the land-sea breeze phenomenon exhibits a deterministic chaos with non-integer correlation dimension values between 2 and 3. Accordingly, 3 is the minimum number of independent variables required to model the dynamics of the landsea breeze phenomenon in the Kimhae area. Since the saturated embedding dimension, when the correlation dimension remains unchanged, is larger for the wind velocity v-component than for temperature, this indicates that wind velocity is susceptible to topology.

  • Estimating dimensions of attractors are the most basic tools to analyze properties of chaotical dynamic systems. In this paper, we estimate correlation dimensions of meteorological variables, such as wind speed (v) and temperature (T) observed in Kimhae International Airport when the land-sea breeze circulation is appeared and find low non-integer values that reflect the deterministic chaos characterizing the dynamics. We compare the results with the correlation dimensions of 2-dimensional model that is calculated by finite element method. Though the correlation dimensions of the calculated wind speed ( v) are less than those of the observed wind speed ( v), we can suggest that the land-sea breeze circulation has not a unique mechanism. The land-sea breeze phenomenon is a complicated dynamics, which is constructed with various scale motions of atmosphere. In further research, we hope to find more accurate dynamics of land-sea breeze through wide observations and using of more sophisticated prediction models.

  • In this paper, we reformulate a snapshot attractor([5]), ($K,\;\={\mu_{\iota}}$) generated by a random baker's map with a sequence of probability measures {\={\mu_{\iota}}} on K. We obtain bounds of the correlation dimensions of ($K,\;\={\mu_{\iota}}$) for all ${\iota}\;{\geq}\;1$.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the rural elderly assess the multi-dimensions of health. This includes the physical, mental and social dimensions of health, correlations among them, and whether there are gender differences and age-group (60's, 70's, 80 and over) differences. For this purpose, survey data was gathered from 881 rural elderly who live in a village. The statistical methods used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlations. The major findings of this study are as follows: Physical health was measured by self-rated health, ADL, IADL, and farmer symptoms. The respondents classified as 80 and over and female perceived their physical health more negatively. Mental health was perceived somewhat positively in general but female participants perceived their mental health more negatively than males. Social health of the rural elderly was relatively positive in comparison to the other dimensions of health. The rural elderly engaged in many social activities, and the majority of them had many social support networks composed of more than 12 persons. Relationships among the physical, mental and social health dimensions were different. The correlation of physical and mental health and the correlation of social and psychological health were statistically significant. However, the correlation of physical and social health had no significant meanings.

  • The necessity to understand shopping orientation is increasing. Yet, there has been few research that investigated the conceptual structure of clothing shopping orientation[CSO]. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the conceptual structure of CSO. For that purpose, both documentary and empirical researches were conducted. The documentary research was conducted to develop a theoretical structure model as a basis for exploring the conceptual structure of CSO. The empirical research was conducted to identify and modify the theoretical model so as to develop a conceptual structure model. The data was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and Pearson's correlation analysis. As a result, a conceptual structure model of CSO was developed. The model consisted of three hierarchical levels of dimensions; upper-dimensions, middle-dimensions and lower-dimensions. The upper-dimensions were composed of 'economic', 'hedonic', and 'convenient' dimensions. Each upper-dimension consisted of middle-dimensions and lower-dimensions. Confirmatory factor analysis was executed to assess the fitness and cross validity of the structure model.

  • In this paper, we propose two kinds of chaos dimensions, the fuzzy correlation and fuzzy Lyapunov dimensions, for speaker recognition. The proposal is based on the point that chaos enables us to analyze the non-linear information contained in individual's speech signal and to obtain superior discrimination capability. We confirm that the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions play an important role in enhancing speaker recognition ratio, by absorbing the variations of the reference and test pattern attractors. In order to evaluate the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions, we suggest speaker recognition using the proposed dimensions. In other words, we investigate the validity of the speaker recognition parameters, by estimating the recognition error according to the discrimination error of an individual speaker from the reference pattern.
