This paper discusses model building for repeated binary response data with different time-dependent covariates each occasion. Since repeated measurements data are having correlated structure, weighed least squares(WLS) methodology is applied. Repeated measures designs are usually having different sizes of experimental units like split-plot designs. However repeated measures designs differ from split-plot designs in that the levels of one or more factors cannot be randomly assigned to one or more of the sizes of experimental units in the experiment. In this case, the levels of time cannot be assigned at random to the time intervals. Because of this nonrandom assignment, the errors corresponding to the respective experimental units may have a covariance matrix. So, the estimates of effects included in a suggested logit model are obtained by using covariance structures.
In this study, vapor-liquid equilibria of a binary system, which consists of glycerol and water, are measured using a vaporrecirculating modified Othmer still at various subatmospheric pressures. The constituent components of the binary system considered in this study exhibit a large difference in the boiling temperatures. Since it is generally observed that the properties of a mixture greatly differ from those of the pure components, the phase equilibrium characteristics of a mixture can not be predicted from the properties of the pure components. Furthermore, an abrupt increase in the boiling temperature occurs as the concentration of the higher boiling component exceeds a certain value. Therefore, it is essential to acquire realistic phase equilibrium data of the mixture for industrial applications. Using the UNIQUAC model, the experimental vapor-liquid equilibrium data are correlated with good accuracy. The thermodynamic consistency test is also performed to ensure soundness of the data.
Recently, dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is considered as an alternative of MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether), additive for non-leaded gasoline with their fast biodegradation rate and low toxicity. DMC is usually synthesized so far by oxidative carbonylation of methanol, and recently developed synthetic process is also started with methanol. Since the phase equilibria of the system, consisted of DMC and methanol or other reaction products on different temperature and pressure is necessary for the optimum separation process design and operation. However the reported phase equilibria and physical properties for DMC mixtures in the Dortmund Data Bank (DDB; thermodynamic property data bank) are quite rare. Besides, infinitely dilute properties are not found. In this work, isothermal vapor-liquid equilibria at 333.15 K for methanol+DMC binary system and mixing properties, excess molar volume and viscosity deviation at 298.15 K are directly measured and correlated. Additionally, infinitely dilute activity coefficient of methanol in the DMC solvent at three different temperatures are measured and compared with predicted values using modified UNIFAC (Dortmund).
Excess molar volumes ($V_m^E$) of binary mixtures of 1-propanol or 2-propanol (1) + cyclohexane or n-hexane (2) were measured with V-shaped dilatometer at 303.15 K. The $V_m^E$ data for these mixtures varied as: 2-propanol > 1-propanol and were higher for cyclohexane than n-hexane for both propanol systems. The experimental data were correlated with Redlich-Kister polynomial. The $V_m^E$ data were interpreted qualitatively as well as quantitatively in terms of Flory-Treszczanowicz-Benson model and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory. Both models correctly described the sign and shape of $V_m^E$ vs $x_1$ curves. The values calculated by both the models agree well with the experimental data.

This paper presents the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data measured for carbon dioxide and propane mixtures. Their mixtures were considered as promising alternative refrigerants due to good thermophysical properties and negligible environmental impact. The isothermal VLE data were measured at eight temperatures ranging from 253.15 to 323.15 K in the circulation type equipment with a view cell. The binary system was found to be a zeotropic mixture in the tested temperature range and could be correlated with sufficient accuracy by using the Peng-Robinson equation of state (PR EoS) with the van der Waals one fluid mixing rule. A comparison with published experimental VLE data has been carried out by means of the PR equation of state. In addition, the phase behaviors of carbon dioxide and propane mixtures were analyzed based on the measured VLE data.
Objective : To compare the efficacy between SKI306X and Diclofenac by using generalized estimating equations (GEE) methodology in the analysis of correlated bivariate binary outcome data in Osteoarthritis (OA) diseases. Methods : A randomized, double-blind, active comparator-controlled, non-inferiority clinical trial was conducted at 5 institutions in Korea with the random assignment of 248 patients aged 35 to 75 years old with OA of the knee and clinical evidence of OA. Patients were enrolled in this study if they had at least moderate pain in the affected knee joint and a score larger than 35mm as assessed by VAS (Visual Analog Scale). The main exposure variable was treatment (SKI 306X vs. Diclofenac) and other covariates were age, sex, BMI, baseline VAS, center, operation history (Yes/No), NSAIDS (Y/N), acupuncture (Y/N), herbal medicine (Y/N), past history of musculoskeletal disease (Y/N), and previous therapy related with OA (Y/N). The main study outcome was the change of VAS pain scores from baseline to the 2nd and 4th weeks after treatment. Pain scores were obtained as baseline, 2nd and 4th weeks after treatment. We applied GEE approach with empirical covariance matrix and independent(or exchangeable) working correlation matrix to evaluate the relation of several risk factors to the change of VAS pain scores with correlated binary bivariate outcomes. Results : While baseline VAS, age, and acupuncture variables had protective effects for reducing the OA pain, its treatment (Joins/Diclofenac) was not statistically significant through GEE methodology (ITT:aOR=1.37, 95% CI=(0.8200, 2.26), PP:aOR=1.47, 95% CI=(0.73, 2.95)). The goodness-of-fit statistic for GEE (6.55, p=0.68) was computed to assess the adequacy of the fitted final model. Conclusions : Both ANCOVA and GEE methods yielded non statistical significance in the evaluation of non-inferiority of the efficacy between SKI306X and Diclofenac. While VAS outcome for each visit was applied in GEE, only VAS outcome for the fourth visit was applied in ANCOVA. So the GEE methodology is more accurate for the analysis of correlated outcomes.

Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium data have been measured for binary systems n-dodecane-1-defanol, n-doderane-1-dodecanol, and 1-decanoi-1-dodecanol at 140$^{\circ}C$ by using head space gas chromatography (H.S.G.C) as a static method. The activity coefficients, calculated taking into acount the nonideality of the liquid phase, were correlated with the conventional g$\^$E/ model, Margules, van Laar, Wilson, NRTL equations. These equilibrium data were thermodynamically consistent by Rrdlich- kister test, among these data, system n-dodecane-1-detanoi has minimum azeotrope.
Recently, bio-butanol is being promoted as environmentally friendly sustainable energy. However, some problems are still obstacle for commercialization of bio-butanol: the development of cheap biomass and enhancement of fermentation ratio and preparation of economical separation process for fermented products. In the conventional ABE biobutanol fermentation process, organic acids with acetone, butanol, and ethanol are produced. Therefore, it is necessary to study phase equilibrium data and mixture properties for the design and operation of separation process. However, there is lack of design data for organic acids except acetic acid contained system. In this study, therefore, binary solid-liquid equilibria (SLE) and mixture properties: the excess molar volumes ($V^E$), molar refraction deviation (${\Delta}R$) and deviation of viscosity (${\Delta}v$) at 298.15 for $C_3-C_6$ organic acid were reported. The experimental SLE data were correlated with the NRTL and UNIQUAC activity coefficient model with less than 0.5 K of root mean square deviation (RMSD). In addition, $V^E$, ${\Delta}R$ and ${\Delta}v$ for the same binary systems were satisfactorily fitted using the Redlich-Kister polynomial with less than ca. 0.004 standard deviation.
Dipterocarps or Dipterocarpaceae is a commercially important timber producing and dominant keystone tree family in the rain forests of Borneo. Borneo's landscape is changing at an unprecedented rate in recent years which affects this important biodiversity. This paper attempts to model the natural occurrence (distribution including those areas with natural forests before being converted to other land uses as opposed to current distribution) of dipterocarp species in Sarawak which is important for forest biodiversity conservation and management. Local modeling method of Inverse Distance Weighting was compared with commonly used statistical method (Binary Logistic Regression) to build the best natural distribution models for three genera (12 species) of dipterocarps. Database of species occurrence data and pseudoabsence data were constructed and divided into two halves for model building and validation. For logistic regression modeling, climatic, topographical and edaphic parameters were used. Proxy variables were used to represent the parameters which were highly (p>0.75) correlated to avoid over-fitting. The results show that Inverse Distance Weighting produced the best and consistent prediction with an average accuracy of over 80%. This study demonstrates that local interpolation method can be used for the modeling of natural distribution of dipterocarp species. The Inverse Distance Weighted was proven a better method and the possible reasons are discussed.
Isothermal vapor-Liquid equilibrium data have been measured for binary systems MTBE-methanol, MTBE-n-heptane, and methanol-n-heptane at $45^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$ by using head space gas chromato-graphy (H.S.G.C). Among these systems a minimum azeotrope was observed in both of MTBE-methanol system and n-heptane-methanol system. Particularly n-heptane-methanol system has a heterogeneous minimum azotrope since it has an immisible region. These equilibrium data were correlated with the excess Gibbs energy model, and the thermodynamic consistency test was also carried out by using Redlich-Kister equation.
