Fracture Behavior of Plate Shape Ceramic using Compressive Shock Wave (압축 충격파를 이용한 평판형상 세라믹의 파괴거동)

  • Fracture characteristics of plate shape using shock tube for glass filled ceramics was carried out. Glass filled ceramics have been considered as a promising candidate material for the dome port cover of air breathing engine. This part of the air breathing engine has an important role separating solid and liquid fuel, and needs the frangible characteristics that the fracture of a part should not affect the internal components of combustion. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the fracture pressures for various thicknesses and diameters of shock impact area. Also fracture phenomena of separated membrane using a shock tube are observed. The experimental apparatus of shock tube consists of a driver, a driven section and a dump tank. The used material is glass filled ceramic made from Corning company. Specimens are used 3, 4.5 and 6mm thickness. Also diameters of shock wave area are chosen 70, 60 and 50 mm. It is expected that the results obtained from this study can be used in the basic data for the dome port cover design of an air breathing engine.

Effect of Wetting Angle and Powder Content on the Optical Properties of Self-Assembled SiO2 Photonic Crystals (기판의 접촉각과 분말량이 자기조립을 통해 형성된 SiO2 광자결정의 광특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of the substrate and powder content on the fabrication of SiO$_{2}$ photonic crystals by evaporation method. Photonic crystals were self-assembled on quartz, Corning 1737 glass, slide glass, and ITa glass to verify the effects of the wetting angle and surface morphology. The powder contents of the solution were varied from 0.2 to 2.0 wt$\%$. The number of photonic crystal layers increased according to the decrease of wetting angle and surface roughness. The resultant photonic crystals showed the best optical characteristics when the number of photonic crystal layers was within 40 and 50. In addition, the intensity peak of Fabry¡?Perot fringes increased when the wetting angle was large and the particle size was small. Photonic crystals coated on ITO glass showed the highest reflectance peak of 63$\%$ relative intensity.

  • In this paper, we developed a modified direct bonding method for the application of vacuum devices. By the proposed method, we successfully bonded the following materials: Si-Si, Si-$SiO_2$-Si, glass-Si, and glass-$SiO_2$-Si. In our experiments, we used corning #7070 wafer type glass and (100) or (110) single crystalline silicon wafers. In order to enhance the initial bonding strength we contacted the materials to be bonded as D. I. water wetted on the surfaces and evaporated the water under the room temperature and atmosphere environment. Finally we realized the glass bonding by simple direct bonding method which has been performed by electrostatic bonding method until now.

  • Buffer (t $\AA$)/ CoFe(35$\AA$)/Cu (50$\AA$)/Co (35$\AA$) sandwiches prepared by dc magnetron sputtering on Corning glass substrates using the $Co_{90}Fe_{10}$ and Co layers with different coercivities. Dependence of magnetoresistance on the type and thickness of buffer layers, and on the thickness of Cu and the magnetic layers in buffer/ CoFe/Cu /Co sandwiches were investigated. Magnetoresistance ratio and saturation field $H_s$ increased as thickness of the buffer layer becomes thicker, then decreased smoothly after a maximum value. An improved filed sensitivity was realized with the $Ni_{81}Fe_{19}$ buffer layer.

  • In a rapidly changing Korean society, the role of home economics in ideological education and practical professionalism is faced to be reset. In this article the author reviews home economics and career opportunities. the following issues were discussed in detail : 1. Home Economics and Occupation ; a) As professionals in the field of home economics, job applicants must carry their message in person to potential employers. Employers must be taught that persons with home economics degrees have the capabilities and qualifications to fill a variety of positions. b) In may of 1977, Vocational Education Coalition was established by American Home economics association (AHEA), American Vocational Association, and Home Economics Education association This coalition defined the vocational education as occupation of homemaking and paid employment in home economics occupations for women and men. 2. Home Economics in business: Twelve percent of the total membership of the AHEA is affiliated with the home economics in business section. A professional management consultant, Dr. strain's viewpoint and corning Glass Work's case about business value in the home economics were summarized; a) Why a business employs a home economist. b) Why a business does not employ a home economist. c) Enhancing the home economist's value. d) Home economist's roles in corning Glass works. 3. Creating a Career: a) Mrs. Maineri's story. b) Family financial counselors. c) Home economist and displaced homemaker. d) Job opportunities in international services. Since the role of home economics in Korea has had little perception in professionalism, the following issues require immediate and serious attention to enhance career opportunities for home economists: Employers and government's recognition of home economist's value, Home economist's attitude to enhance their value, Fair employment and sex discrimination, Curricula adjustment, and Support from women's organization for employment opportunities, fair treatment, top jobs, etc.

Magnetoresistance of ${[Co/Fe/Cu]}_20$ Multilayers (${[Co/Fe/Cu]}_20$ 다층박막의 자기저항 특성)

  • We have studied the effect of a spin-dependence interface electron scattering on the giant magnetoresistance by adding a Fe magnetic material to the Co/Cu interfaces. The $Fe(50\;{\AA})/[Co(17\;{\AA})/Fe(t\;{\AA})/Cu(24\;{\AA})]_{20}$ multilayers are deposited on the Corning glass 2948 and 7059 substrates in a dc magnetron sputtering system. The magnetoresistance ratio is 22 % in the only Co/Cu multilayer, while it is increased to 26 % with inserted ultra thin Fe interface layer and reduced with increasing thickness of the Fe interface layer. It was investigated to the dependence of the magnetoresistance behaviors on annealing temperature. The magnetic properties of the multilayers were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer. Also, the structures and the surface roughness of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscope, respectively. The magnetoresistance ratio was increased to annealing temperature $300^{\circ}C$, but reduced at the temperature higher than $300^{\circ}C$ due to the interfacial diffuse.

Comparison of Soft Magnetic Properties of Permalloy and Conetic Thin Films (퍼멀로이와 코네틱 박막의 연자성 특성 비교)

  • The soft magnetic property for the Corning glass/Ta(5 nm)/[Conetic, Permalloy)/Ta(3 nm) prepared by the ion beam deposition sputtering was investigated. The coercivity and saturation magnetic field of conetic (NiFeCuMo) and permalloy (NiFe) layer with easy and hard direction along to the applying magnetic field during deposition was compared with each other. The surface resistance of conetic film with a thickness of 10 nm was 2 times lower than one of permalloy film. The coercivity and the magnetic susceptibility of conetic film decreased and increased 3 times to one of permalloy film, respectively. These results suggest that a highly sensitive GMR-SV or MTJ using conetic film can be possible to develop the bio-device.

Magnetic Characteristics and Annealing Effects of $NiFe/FeMn/NiFe/CoFe/Al_2O_3/CoFe/NiFe$Spin Tunneling Junctions ($NiFe/FeMn/NiFe/CoFe/Al_2O_3/CoFe/NiFe$ 스핀 터널링 접합의 자기적 특성과 열처리 효과)

  • Cross-shape structures of spin tunneling junctions were fabricated using DC magnetron sputtering and metal masks. The film structures were $substrate/Ta/NiFe/FeMn/NiFe/CoFe/Al_2O_3/CoFe/NiFe$ and $substrate/Ta/NiFe/CoFe/ Al_2O_3/CoFe/NiFe/FeMn/NiFe$. Fabrication conditions of insulating layer ($Al_2O_3$) and thickness and sputtering power of each film layer were varied, and maximum magnetoresistance ratio of 24.3 % was obtained. Magnetic characteristic variations in the above mentioned two structures and two types of substrates (Corning glass 7059 and Si(111)) were compared. Annealing of the junctions was performed to find out magnetic characteristic variations expected from the device fabrication. Magneoresistance Ratio were observed to maintain as-deposited value up to 150 $^{\circ}C$ annealing and then to drop rapidly after 180 $^{\circ}C$ annealing.

  • The IrMn based GMR-SV films with three different buffer layers were prepared on Corning glass by using ion beam deposition and DC magnetron sputtering method. The major and minor magnetoresistance curves for three different buffer layers beneath the structure of NiFe(15 nm)/CoFe(5 nm)/Cu(2.5 nm)/CoFe(5 nm)/NiFe(7 nm)/IrMn(10 nm)/Ta(5 nm) at room temperature have shown different magnetoresistance properties. When the samples were annealed at $250^{\circ}C$ in vacuum, the magnetoresistance ratio, the coercivity of pinned ferromagnetic layer, and the interlayer coupling field of free ferromagnetic layer were enhanced while the exchange bias coupling field did not show noticeable changes.

GaN 위에 electron beam evaporator로 증착시킨 ITO contactd의 구조적 특성 및 전기적 특성 평가

  • 일반적으로 GaN-based light emitting diodes(LEDs)는 Top layer위에 금속박막으로 contact을 형성하고 있으며 광소자 구성에 있어 빛은 이러한 금속 contact을 통과할 수 없다. 그러나 만약 이러한 contact이 투명전도막으로 구성될 수 있다면 보다 효율적인 광소자의 구성이 기대되어진다. 특히 GaN photodetector, GaN-based LEDs, GaN vertical cavity surface emitting lasers(VCSELs)등의 소자형성에 있어 투명전도막 contact은 매우 중요하며 그 응용에 앞서 기본적인 구조적, 전기적, 광학적 특성에 대한 연구가 반드시 선행되어져야 한다. 따라서 본 실험에서는 이러한 투명전도막으로써 Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)를 사용하였으며 박막형태의 contact으로 제조하여 n-GaN, p-GaN와 corning glass위에 e-beam evaporation법로써 제조하였다. 또한 각 n-, p-type과 corning glass위에 증착된 ITO박막의 구조적 특성을 분석하기 위하여 x-ray diffractometry(XRD)와 Auger electron spectroscopy(AES)등을 사용하였으며 전기적 특성을 측정하기 위하여 four point probe를 사용하였고 그들의 I-V 곡선을 측정하였다. 또한 UV spectrometry를 사용하여 그들의 광학적 특성을 측정하고자 하였다. ITO 박막의 제조에 있어 기판은 초음파 유기세정 후 HCl과 H2O2(1:1)의 혼합용액을 사용하여 GaO2를 제거하고자 하였으며 이후 초순수로 세척하여 사용하였다. 초기 진공도는 3$\times$10-5 Torr이하였으며 기판온도 50$0^{\circ}C$에서 0.6 /s의 증착속도로 약 2000 증착하였다. 이렇게 제조된 ITO 박막은 5$\times$10-5 Torr이하의 진공분위기에서 $600^{\circ}C$로 열처리를 실시하였으며 열처리 시간의 변화에 따른 그들의 전기적, 구조적, 광학적 특성을 측정하였다. 열처리 과정을 통한 ITO박막은 투과도는 420nm의 영역에서 80%이상을 나타내었으며 이때의 면저항은 약 50ohm/ 이었다. 또한 I-V 곡선 측정에 의한 contact특성의 측정결과 열처리 전의 ITO contact은 n-GaN와 n-GaN에 대해 각각 ohmic과 schottky contact의 일반적인 contact 특성을 나타내었다. 그러나 이러한 contact 특성은 열처리 시간의 변화에 따라 변화하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
