MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions)기반 위성영상에서의 관심객체 검출기법 (A Method to Detect Object of Interest from Satellite Imagery based on MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions))

  • This paper describes an approach to detect interesting objects using satellite images. This paper focuses on the interesting objects that have common special patterns but do not have identical shapes and sizes. The previous technologies are still insufficient for automatic finding of the interesting objects based on operation of special pattern analysis. In order to overcome the circumstances, this paper proposes a methodology to obtain the special patterns of interesting objects considering their common features and their related characteristics. This paper applies MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions) for the region detection and corner detector in order to extract the features of the interesting object. This paper conducts a case study and obtains the experimental results of the case study, which is efficient in reducing processing time and efforts comparing to the previous manual searching.

  • 수리학적인 모형실험을 이용하여 플로팅 구조물의 변위를 영상기반으로 관측할 수 있다. 디지털 캠코더 파일로부터 취득된 영상에 프레임 영상 추출, 특징점 추출 및 정합을 수행하였다. 정확한 결과 산출을 위하여 향후 개선된 실험환경에서 동영상 취득을 수행할 예정이다.

  • Military targets in SAR images are not distinguished easily unlike those in optical images, because targets are only dozens of pixels and they have many corner reflectors sensitive to the incidence angle of radar signals. Due to those problems, SAR image analysts have difficulties in recognizing military targets captured by SAR images. Furthermore, manual analysis cannot respond promptly enough to rapidly changing situations such as battle field. We need automated analysis to solve these problems. In this paper, we analyzed algorithms for prescreening of military targets in SAR images. We implemented some prescreening algorithms and tested the algorithms using SAR data. As a result, we will report performance of the tested prescreening algorithms.

Offline Camera Movement Tracking from Video Sequences

  • In this paper, we propose a method to track the movement of camera from the video sequences. This method is useful for video analysis and can be applied as pre-processing step in some application such as video stabilizer and marker-less augmented reality. First, we extract the features in each frame using corner point detection. The features in current frame are then compared with the features in the adjacent frames to calculate the optical flow which represents the relative movement of the camera. The optical flow is then analyzed to obtain camera movement parameter. The final step is camera movement estimation and correction to increase the accuracy. The method performance is verified by generating a 3D map of camera movement and embedding 3D object to the video. The demonstrated examples in this paper show that this method has a high accuracy and rarely produce any jitter.

  • 본 논문은 주행 중인 자동차에서 획득한 영상에서 배경과 도로영역 및 물체를 분리하기 위한 영역분할 기법과 물체 검출 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 영상내의 에지라인의 화소 간 연결성을 이용한 라인검출을 이용하여 도로의 윤곽선 정보를 추출하고 컬러분포를 통해 배경과 도로영역을 분리한다. 물체가 가지는 코너 특성을 이용하여 나타난 정보들의 군집화를 통해 후보영역을 얻고 컬러 성분을 이용하여 개별 물체를 분리해냈다. 제안된 알고리즘은 복잡한 배경을 갖는 도로영상의 경우에도 도로영역과 물체의 검출에 강인함을 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, we present early processing techniques for visual inspection of metallic parts. Since metallic surfaces give rise to specular reflections, it is difficult to extract object boundaries using elementary segmentation techniques such as edge detection or binary thresholding. In this paper, we present two techniques for finding object boundaries on micro bit images. First, we explain a technique for detecting blade boundaries using a directional correlation mask. Second, a line and angle extraction technique based on Harris corner detector and Hough transform is described. These techniques have been effective for detecting blade boundaries, and a number of experimental results are presented using real images.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for acquisition of linear segments of building from edge pixels using Kalman filtering. We can obtain the accurate position of building corners from the linear segments of building. The corner points are used to calculate the position of building corners in world coordinate using stereo vision technique. The algorithm has been applied to pairs of stereo aerial images and the result showed accurate linear segment detection from edge pixels of roof boundaries.

자연영상에서 코너 에지 특징 분석방법을 이용한 한글 텍스트 검출기법에 관한 연구 (Hangul Text Detection using Text Corner Edge Feature Analysis in Natural Scene Images)

  • 본 연구에서는 자연 이미지에서 한글 텍스트가 갖고 있는 에지 코너 특징을 이용한 한글 텍스트 검출방법을 제안한다. 자연영상으로부터 에지를 검출하고, 검출된 에지를 20종류의 에지 구조 성분을 갖는 에지 맵을 생성한다. 생성된 에지 맵에서 한글 텍스트 특징 갖는 특징들을 조합하여 모두 8가지의 텍스트 영역 후보 특징을 추출한다. 추출된 텍스트 영역의 특징을 수평 및 수직방향으로 검사하여 텍스트의 시작 라인과 끝라인을 검출하여 텍스트 영역의 수평좌표를 구한다. 추출된 텍스트 후보 영역에서 최종적으로 텍스트 영역을 결정한다. 제안한 방법은 다양한 종류의 자연 이미지에서 텍스트 영역을 검출에서 좋은 성능을 나타냈다.

Vision-Based Indoor Localization Using Artificial Landmarks and Natural Features on the Ceiling with Optical Flow and a Kalman Filter

  • This paper proposes a vision-based indoor localization method for autonomous vehicles. A single upward-facing digital camera was mounted on an autonomous vehicle and used as a vision sensor to identify artificial landmarks and any natural corner features. An interest point detector was used to find the natural features. Using an optical flow detection algorithm, information related to the direction and vehicle translation was defined. This information was used to track the vehicle movements. Random noise related to uneven light disrupted the calculation of the vehicle translation. Thus, to estimate the vehicle translation, a Kalman filter was used to calculate the vehicle position. These algorithms were tested on a vehicle in a real environment. The image processing method could recognize the landmarks precisely, while the Kalman filter algorithm could estimate the vehicle's position accurately. The experimental results confirmed that the proposed approaches can be implemented in practical situations.

Simple Technique for Measurement of Complex Permittivity and Detection of Small Permittivity Change Using Partially Open Cavity

  • This letter presents a measurement methodology of the complex permittivity of liquid using a partially open cavity in narrow band. The partially open cavity (POC) can measure dielectric small changes caused by the temperature variation of the liquid inside the cavity as well. Using the resonance frequency and unloaded quality factor of the proposed POC, the complex permittivity is evaluated. The apertures on the walls of the cavity are designed to circulate the liquid inside to outside of the POC and located at the corner area of the cavity to minimize the disturbance of field distribution at the dominant mode. The results measured by the proposed POC were compared with those by the conventional open-ended probe and Cole-Cole equation. The POC showed better performance in measuring small dielectric constant changes than the open-ended probe.
