The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of importance in the knowledge of nursing records, critical thinking disposition and self-confidence of core nursing skills on clinical competence of nursing students. A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 201 Korean nursing students from October to December, 2020. As a result of the study, the factors affecting the clinical competence of nursing students were in the order of critical thinking disposition, importance in the knowledge of nursing records and self-confidence of core nursing skills(β=.43, .31, .24), and explanatory power was 61.9%. Therefore, it is recommend to develop and implement a teaching strategy that can integrate the major factors identified in this study for improving clinical competence of nursing students.

This study try to confirm the relationship between clinical reasoning competence, critical thinking propensity, and confidence in performing core basic nursing skills among nursing students. The subjects of the study were 157 third and fourth year nursing students at D University in Daejeon, and the survey was conducted through a self-questionnaire from Nov. 2 to Nov. 15, 2022. The collected materials were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN26.0 program. The results showed the correlation between clinical reasoning competence and critical thinking propensity (r=.417, p<.001), clinical reasoning competence and core basic nursing performance confidence (r=.659, p<.001), critical thinking propensity and core basic nursing performance confidence (r=.303, p<.001). Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a basis for developing various curriculums to increase the confidence of nursing college students in performing core basic nursing techniques.

Purpose: This study was done to identify learning experiences and self-confidence and to analyze nursing students' self-confidence according to learning experiences for core nursing skills (CNS). Method: Participants were 502 final year nursing students. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-test. Results: Over 60% of participants had practiced 15 items of the 24 CNS in the basic nursing lab (BNL). In clinical practice (CP), they had practiced five items but experienced only one item in a simulation lab (SL). Items with the highest confidence level were vital signs (4.69) followed by blood sugar test (4.60), pulse oximeter (4.38), and oral medication (4.12). Items with the lowest confidence level were blood transfusion (2.17) followed by enema (2.64) and indwelling catheterization (2.67). The group with CNS experience in the practice curriculum was generally more confident than the group with no experience. Self-confidences in some skills was significantly different depending on availability of SL, credits for BNL and CP, and presence of preceptors. Conclusion: Results indicate a need to develop practice education strategies such as changing the CP to practice-centered learning with preceptors and including well-designed SL to increase confidence of nursing students.

A convergence study was conducted to develop a smartphone application for self-practice of core nursing skills and evaluate its usefulness for undergraduate nursing students. Mobile Application Rating Scale and seven essay questionnaire were used to for usability evaluation among 22 undergraduate nursing students. The score of the information domain was the highest with 4.19(SD 0.79). The subjective quality domain showed the lowest score of 3.08(SD 0.87). Participants' performance confidence score was 8.23(SD 1.60), and learning satisfaction score was 7.89(SD 0.87). Participants reported that the convenience and repetitive self-learning were the strengths of the app. In addition, design and technical supplementation, and lecturer-feedback would improve effectiveness of the current educational app. Findings of this convergent study would be helpful to promote the application of mobile apps for effective self-learning of core nursing skills in undergraduate nursing education. Future resesarch is needed to examine effectiveness study of mobile app on the performance of core nursing skills.

This is a qualitative study to explore the experiences of convergence external appraisal of competency in core basic nursing skills in final year nursing students. Eight nursing students who experienced the evaluation were intentionally sampled. Data were analyzed using constant comparative and categorical content analysis after collecting data through focus group interview. The results of this study showed that nursing students sublimated mental stress such as burden and pressure of the evaluation into a positive experience that they skillfully improved their nursing skills through mind control and cooperation with peers. Therefore, this study enabled us to understand the experience of students receiving external appraisal. In addition, intervention studies to alleviate mental stress on convergence external appraisal are needed.

The purpose of this study was to identify experiences of core basic nursing skills(CBNS), self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence in 208 nursing students attending nursing department and understand which factor, either experiences of CBNS or self-confidence during clinical practice has an impact on clinical competence. Our research findings are as follows. There was a positive correlation between experiences of CBNS, self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence. The factor that had the biggest impact on clinical competence was self-confidence during clinical practice and the explanation power of both factors was 31.2%, based on multiple regression analysis. Based on these findings, nursing educate need to develop a curriculum to increase self-confidence during clinical practice in students.

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing confidence in performing core basic nursing skills(CBNS) for low-grade nursing students. The data were collected from 213 nursing students from one nursing college located in G do from November 25 to December 4, 2020. Data were analyed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression using SPSS 21.0. Differences in confidence in performing CBNS according to general characteristics were university life satisfaction, practical satisfaction, academic achievement, and interpersonal relationship. Confidence in performing CBNS was significant positive correlation with self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and learning attitude. The factors influencing confidence in performing CBNS were self-efficacy and learning attitude, and explanatory power was 32.5%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop learning strategies and educational programs and verify the effectiveness of lower class nursing students to increse their confidence in performing CBNS.

In this paper, we propose to investigate the differences of academic achievement and core competence according to university admission types. Research subjects were 159 nursing students in G city. The tool used in this study was Collegiate Students Essential Skills Assessment developed by the KW University. The 6 areas measured with the tool are: humanities, Humanism, self-directedness, creative competence, practice competence and global competence. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Scheffe' test and pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS WIN 18.0 Program. There were significant differences in core competence according to university admission types. But There were significant differences in academic achievement according to university admission types. And significant positive correlation between academic achievement and core competece was not founded. But significant positive correlation of 6 core competencies were founded. Based on the result of this study, it is possible to serve basic data for establishing better university admission type.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the learning style, learning efficacy, transfer of learning, and confidence in performance competence of Core Basic Nursing Skills (CBNS) and factors influencing confidence in performance competence of CBNS by nursing students. Methods: A descriptive study design was used. Participants were 148 nursing students. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 for descriptive statistics, ANCOVA, correlation and regression. Results: Learning styles of the participants were assimilator 33.11%, accommodator 26.35%, diverger 23.65%, and converger 16.89%. Learning efficacy was significantly different according to learning styles, however, transfer of learning and confidence in performance competence of CBNS were not significantly different according to learning styles. Confidence in performance competence of CBNS positively correlated with transfer of learning and learning efficacy. Transfer of learning was a significant predictor of confidence in performance competence of CBNS. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that transfer of learning influences confidence in performance competence of CBNS. Thus, nursing faculty should develop educational strategies to enhance and improve transfer of learning, and development of effective confidence in performance competence of CBNS programs.

This study is a descriptive research study to investigate the effect of core basic nursing practice education on clinical competence of nursing students. The data was collected from 169 3rd and 4th grade students in the Department of Nursing, College of Nursing, G province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression. Core experience is negatively correlated with performance confidence (r=.446, p<.001) was negatively correlated with clinical performance (r=-.206, p=.001). It was found to have a negative correlation with (r=-.346, p<.001). In this study, the factors affecting clinical performance were self-confidence (${\beta}=-.317$, p<.001), and clinical performance was 11.3%. Therefore, effective practical education program for improving clinical performance is needed for smooth practical education of nursing students.
