Two new Cu(II) complexes, $[Cu_2(acpy-mdtc)_2(HBA)(ClO_4)]{\cdot}H_2O$ (1) (acpy-mdtc- = 2-acetylpyridine S-methyldithiocarbamate and $HBA^-$ = benzilic acid anion) and $[Cu_2(acpy-phtsc)_2(HBA)]{\cdot}ClO_4$ (2) (acpy-$phtsc^-$ = 2-acetylpyridine 4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazate) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray analysis reveals that the structures of 1 and 2 are dinuclear copper(II) complexes bridged by two thiolate sulfur atoms of Schiff base ligand and bidentate bridging $HBA^-$ anion. For 1, each of the two copper atoms has different coordination environments. Cu1 adopts a five-coordinate square-pyramidal with a $N_2OS_2$ donor, while Cu2 exhibits a distorted octahedral geometry in a $N_2O_2S_2$ manner. For 2, two Cu(II) ions all have a five-coordinate square-pyramidal with a $N_2OS_2$ donor. In each complex, the Schiff base ligand is coordinated to copper ions as a tridentate thiol mode.

A 1D-coordination polymer of $1D-\{Cu({\mu}-picolinato)_2\}$$\{Hakimi,\;2012\;\sharp73\}_n$ (1), was prepared by the reactions between 2-(2-(pyridin-2-yl)oxazolidin-3-yl)ethanol (AEPC) ligand and $CuCl_2$ or $CuBr_2$. The product was characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis, FT-IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray analysis results revealed that the AEPC ligand, after reactions with the copper(II) chloride or bromide, gives the same product - $1D-\{Cu({\mu}-picolinato)_2\}_n$ (1). The coordination modes for various picolinate-based ligands were extracted from the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). In the crystal structure of 1, the copper atom has a $CuN_2O_4$ environment and octahedral geometry, which is distorted by elongation of the axial bond lengths due to the Jahn-Teller effect.
A bismuth-coated carbon fiber microelectrode was prepared using cyclic voltammetry (CV). An analytical application was performed for the copper analysis with Square Wave Stripping Voltammetry (SWSV). Gallic acid n-propyl ester (PG) was used for the complex formation with a copper ion, and electrochemical measurements were performed with a pre-amplifier of a low-current module for nano am per detection. The effects of various parameters on the response were optimized. Analytical working ranges of $0.03-25.9\;{\mu}gl^{-1}$ and $0-25\'mgl^{-1}$ Cu(II) were obtained. The relative standard deviation at $13\;mgl^{-1}$ Cu was 0.9% (n = 12) in optimum conditions. The detection limit was found to have been $0.019\;{\mu}gl^{-1}$, with a 30-sec accumulation time. The developed methods were applied to a copper assay in water samples.
This work was carried out to investigate the chemical properties of the chelate compounds which were produced with 2-methoxy-5-nitrophenol(MNG) and metal salt such as copper nitrate and manganese nitrate. And obtained results were as in the followings. 1) The binding ratio of the chelate compounds formation were determined by using the molar ratio concentration method and their chemical structures were identified by IR-spectrum. 2) In the absorbance measuring, 2-methoxy-5-nitrophenol coordinated with manganese and copper showed the maximum absorbance at $430 m\mu$ and $410 m\mu$ respectively. 3) The binding ratio of chelated compounds were measured by molar ratio method and continuous variation method with spectrophotometer, which was identified as 1:2. 4) The conditional formation constant(log Kn value) of manganese and copper chelate compounds were 6.70, 6.75, respectively according to the equation of $log\frac{A-AM\circ n MNG}{AMm MNG-A}=n log (M\circ)+log Kn$ 5) The dissociations degree of manganese and copper chelate compound were $2, 300{\times} 10^{-7}$, $2, 346{\times} 10^{-7}$ respectively according to the molar calculation method.

The primary aim of this study is to investigate new semi-abrasive free slurry including acid colloidal silica and hydrogen peroxide for copper chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP). In general, slurry for copper CMP consists of colloidal silica as an abrasive, organic acid as a complex-forming agent, hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent, a film forming agent, a pH control agent and several additives. We developed new semi-abrasive free slurry (SAFS) including below 0.5% acid colloidal silica. We evaluated additives as stabilizers for hydrogen peroxide as well as accelerators in tantalum nitride CMP process. We also estimated dispersion stability and Zeta potential of the acid colloidal silica with additives. The extent of enhancement in tantalum nitride CMP was verified through anelectrochemical test. This approach may be useful for the application of single and first step copper CMP slurry with one package system.
Copper(II) ion was measured with the use of a perfluorinated sulfonated polymer-ethylenediamine (nafion-en) modified glassy carbon electrode. The electrode mechanism was based on the chemical reactivity of an immobilized layer (nafion-en) to yield complex $[Cu(en)_2]^{+2}$. The reduction potential peak by differential pulse voltammetry(DPV) was observed at -0.4402V(${\pm}0.0050V$) (vs. Ag/AgCl). The linear calibration curve was obtained from $1.0{\times}10^{-6}$ to $1.0{\times}10^{-4}M$ copper(II) ion concentration, and the detection limit(3s) was $1.96{\times}10^{-6}M$.

Six new binuclear copper(II) complexes have been prepared by template condensation of the dialdehydes 1,8-[bis(3-formyl-2-hydroxy-5-methyl)benzyl]-l,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (PC-a) and 1,8-[bis(3-formyl-2-hydroxy-5-bromo)benzyl]-l,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (PC-b) with appropriate aliphatic diamines, and copper(II) perchlorate. The structural features of the complexes have been confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and mass spectra etc. The electrochemical behavior of all the copper(II) complexes show two irreversible one electron reduction process. The room temperature magnetic moment studies depict the presence of an antiferromagnetic interaction in the binuclear complexes. The catechol oxidation and hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenylphosphate were carried out by using the complexes as catalyst. The antimicrobial screening data show good results. The binding of the complexes to calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) has been investigated with absorption and emission spectroscopy. The complex [$Cu_2L^{1a}$] displays significant cleavage property of circular plasmid pBR322 DNA in to linear form. Spectral, electrochemical, magnetic and catalytic studies support the distortion of the copper ion geometry that arises as the macrocyclic ring size increases.
$\beta$-ketohexanal as a chelating extractant was synthesized from the reaction of ethyl formate and methyl propyl ketone in the presence of sodium amide, and the equilibrium characteristics in the extraction of copper by $\beta$-ketohexanal-chloroform were investigated. The equilibrium constants such as the dissociation constant and the partition coefficients of $\beta$-ketohexanal, the stability constant and the partition coefficient of copper chelating complex, and the overall equilibrium constant in the extraction of copper were determined by spectrophotometric measurements, and the mechanism of extraction was proposed. The percent of extracted copper by $\beta$-ketohexanal-chloroform was near 100%, and the selective extraction of copper from Cu-Zn-Cd mixture was possible. Copper was found to be extracted as $CuR_2$ and the equilibrium reaction was expressed as $Cu^{2+}+2{\overline{HR}}{\rightleftarrows}{\overline{CuR{_2}}}+2H^+$.

In order to manufacture 2-layer flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL) s having the excellent performance high adhesion properties between copper foil and polyimide film are required. Silane coupling agents with specific functional groups as an adhesion promoter are generally used to enhance the adhesion. In our study, we synthesized a novel silane coupling agent for increasing the adhesive property between copper layer and polyimide layer. The surface morphology of rolled copper foil, as a function of the concentrations of the coated silane coupling agent, was fully characterized. As fabricated 2-layer FCCL, we observed that adhesive properties were changed by the surface morphology and we confirmed that the novel silane coupling agent affects adhesive properties in FCCL with two types of poly (amic acid)s.
Copper(II) sorbed on kaolinite (KGa-lb) was studied using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The sorbed copper(II) had an isotropic EPR signal with $g_{iso}\;=\;2.19$ at room temperature. At 77 K, the isotropic signal converted to an axially symmetric anisotropic signal with $g_{\$\mid$}\;=\;2.40,\;g_{\bot}\;=\;2.08,\;and\;A_{\$\mid$}\;=\;131\;G$. These EPR results suggest that the sorbed copper(II) forms an outer-sphere surface complex with a tetragonally distorted $CuO_{6}$ octahedral structure on the kaolinite. In the sorption measurement, the amount of sorbed copper increased with increasing pH of the solution. However, the intensity of the isotropic EPR line was not directly proportional to the amount of sorbed copper. This discrepancy was resolved by assuming the formation of a surface precipitate at higher pH that is invisible by EPR. The EXAFS data confirmed the existence of the surface precipitate. The best fit for the EXAFS of the sorbed copper showed that each copper on the kaolinite had 6.8 copper neighbors located $3.08\;{\AA}$ from it, in addition to the first shell oxygen neighbors, including 4 equatorial O at $1.96\;{\AA}$ and 2 axial O at $2.31\;{\AA}$. This work shows that the local environment of the copper sorbed on the kaolinite changes as a function of pH and surface loading, and that the EPR and EXAFS are useful in studying such changes.
