  • This paper shows a novel and simple IIR/FIR QMF(quadrature mirror filter) filter banks, mixed IIR and FIR structure. Here, FIR filters used for phase compensation. In this paper, we introduced analysis and synthesis filter banks, which used FIR linear phase filters and all pass filters. In result, phase response of analysis and synthesis filter banks become approximately linear characteristic. Simultaneously, a liasing distortion can be completely canceled.

  • This paper presents a derivation of the optimum convergence constant to yield the most rapid convergence under a desired mean-square error (MSE) for echo canceller using the LMS algorithm. For white input data, the optimum convergence constant is a simple closed-form function of the number of filter taps, the input signal variance, the initial MSE, and the desired MSE. This characteristic makes it easily designed in many practical applications. Computer simulations are also employed to show the correctness and effectiveness of the derived results.

  • Convergence characteristics and efficiency of three implicit approximate factorization schemes(ADI, DDADI and MAF) are examined using 2-Dimensional compressible upwind Navier-Stokes code. Second-order CSCM(Conservative Supra Characteristic Method) upwind flux difference splitting method with Fromm scheme is used for the right-hand side residual evaluation, while generally first-order upwind differencing is used for the implicit operator on the left-hand side. Convergence studies are performed using an example of the flow past a NACA0012 airfoil at steady transonic flow condition, i. e. Mach number 0.8 at $1.25^{\circ}$ angle of attack. The results were compared with other computational results in order to validate the current numerical analysis. The results from the implicit AF algorithms were compared well in low surface with the other computational results; however, not well in upper surface. It might be due to lack of the grid around the shock position. Because the algorithm minimizes the errors of the approximate decomposition, the improved convergence rate with MAF were observed.

  • This paper presents a design of a transmission line negative group delay (NGD) circuit with multiple pole characteristics. By inserting an additional transmission line into a conventional NGD circuit, the proposed circuit provides further design parameters to obtain wideband group delay (GD) and to help reduce signal attenuation. As a result, the number of gain compensating amplifiers can be reduced, which can contribute to stable operation when integrated into RF systems. The multiple pole characteristics can provide wider NGD bandwidth and can be obtained by connecting resonators with slightly different center frequencies separated by quarter-wavelength transmission lines. For experimental validation, an NGD circuit with two poles GD characteristic is designed, simulated, and measured.

Chemical Imaging Analysis of the Micropatterns of Proteins and Cells Using Cluster Ion Beam-based Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and Principal Component Analysis

  • Micropatterns of streptavidin and human epidermal carcinoma A431 cells were successfully imaged, as received and without any labeling, using cluster $Au_3{^+}$ ion beam-based time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) together with a principal component analysis (PCA). Three different analysis ion beams ($Ga^+$, $Au^+$ and $Au_3{^+}$) were compared to obtain label-free TOF-SIMS chemical images of micropatterns of streptavidin, which were subsequently used for generating cell patterns. The image of the total positive ions obtained by the $Au_3{^+}$ primary ion beam corresponded to the actual image of micropatterns of streptavidin, whereas the total positive-ion images by $Ga^+$ or $Au^+$ primary ion beams did not. A PCA of the TOF-SIMS spectra was initially performed to identify characteristic secondary ions of streptavidin. Chemical images of each characteristic ion were reconstructed from the raw data and used in the second PCA run, which resulted in a contrasted - and corrected - image of the micropatterns of streptavidin by the $Ga^+$ and $Au^+$ ion beams. The findings herein suggest that using cluster-ion analysis beams and multivariate data analysis for TOF-SIMS chemical imaging would be an effectual method for producing label-free chemical images of micropatterns of biomolecules, including proteins and cells.

  • Korea Expressway Corporation established standard of LED lighting fixture in Dec. 2013. To raise compatibility, the standard requires a fixed form and it is applied to street lights and tunnel lights, etc. Because streetlight has different circumstance condition from tunnel light that is down light and exposed to constant wind velocity over height of 8 meters, in case of LED module which has the same shape, characteristic of radiant heat can be different. In this paper, we designed 25 [W] LED Module that is designated by standard of Korea Expressway Corporation and analyzed characteristics of radiant heat about natural convection and forced convection. It is dropped 10.12[$^{\circ}C$] that max temperature is decreased by increasing 20 mm of bended height of heatsink at the condition of natural convection. Radiant heat characteristic of bended height 35 mm became 78.08[$^{\circ}C$] at the condition of natural convection, 55.30[$^{\circ}C$] at the condition of forced convection so that 22.78[$^{\circ}C$] is decreased that is 29.1[%] decrease. Bended height 55mm became 67.96[$^{\circ}C$] at the condition of natural convection, 48.04[$^{\circ}C$] at the condition of forced convection so that 19.92[$^{\circ}C$] is decreased that is 29.3% decrease.

A Study on the Characteristic of Contact Pressure for CPB (Cold Pad Batch) Padder Roll Controlled by Hydraulic Single Cell (단일 유압 Cell로 제어되는 CPB(Cold Pad Batch)용 패더롤의 접촉압력 특성 연구)

  • To make uniform pressure distributed over the contact surface was necessary to cold pad batch dyeing machine. In this study, to confirm characteristic of flexibility and the contact pressure distribution through experimental analysis of padder roll were controlled by hydraulic cell. When there were no load pressure only inner pressure, the value of displacement in the center of padder were greater than the end of the padder. The results of this study showed that the padder had the optimum value of inner pressure for uniform contact pressure distribution. Measuring the contact pressure in a padder system were driven by using a pre-scale film. Uniform contact pressure distribution of cell padder were a linearly with load pressure and inner pressure. When the load pressure was less than 8 tons, the inner pressure for the uniform contact pressure was 1~4 bar. The padder roll performance curves proposed in this study were available for practical production environments and various roll designs.

Convergence Study on Flow Characteristic due to the Configuration of Water Tank (물탱크의 형상에 따른 유동 특성에 관한 융합 연구)

  • In this study, the flow characteristics happening inside water tank due to the configuration of various water tank were analyzed by using a computation fluid dynamics program, ANSYS CFX. This study also examined which model was most efficient at the flow by changing the flow conditions of the inlet and outlet due to the configuration of various tank. Same material was applied to models A, B and C. As the result of flow analysis, it was shown that model B had the best flow and model C had the highest pressure applied to the flow. So, though the water tank has the same material according to the configuration of product, the velocity and pressure of flow become different. Therefore, it is thought to develop the tank good for the fluid flow due to the product configuration through this flow analysis result. On the basis of this study result, the esthetic sense can be shown as the analysis data of flow due to the configuration of fluid tank are grafted onto the real life.

An Analysis of its Convergence Characteristics and the Adaptive Algorithm for Reducing the Computational Quantities (계산량 감소를 위한 적응 알고리즘 및 수렴특성 분석)

  • This paper describes a new adaptive algorithm which can reduce the required computation quantities in the adaptive filter. The proposed adaptive algorithm uses only the signs of the normalized input signal rather than the input signals when coefficients of the filter are adapted. By doing so, there is no need for the multiplications and divisions which are mostly responsible for the computation quantities. To analyze the convergence characteristics of the proposed algorithm, the condition and speed of the convergence are derived mathematically. Also, we simulate an echo canceller adopting this algorithm and compare the performances of convergence for this algorithm with the ones for the other algorithm. As the results of simulations, it is proved that the echo canceller adopting this algorithm shows almost the same performances of convergence as the echo canceller adopting the SIA algorithm.
