  • This study aimed to develop and commercialize abalone Haliotis discus hannai marinated in seasoned soy sauce (AM-S) for the elderly by adjusting its texture (hardness) and strengthening its nutritional components. The number of pounding cycles [X1, 2-14 times] and heating time in a retort [X2, 5-19 min] were selected as independent variables, and hardness (Y1) and overall acceptance (Y2) were selected as dependent variables. The optimal conditions for X1 and X2 were 12 pounding cycles and heating in a retort for 17 min, respectively. The hardness values 209.2×103 N/m2 for the third method and 259.1×103 N/m2 for the first method. The nutritional value was 13.1 g/100 g crude protein and vitamins A, D, and C were not detected. The mineral content was 33.2 mg/100 g calcium and 258.7 mg/100 g potassium. Organisms from the coliform group and Escherichia coli were not detected. Therefore, AM-S for the elderly was classified as a hardness- and nutrient-controlled product based on the standards and specifications of senior-friendly foods provided in the MFDS and classified as the first step of senior-friendly foods according to the standards and specifications of senior-friendly foods provided in the KS.

  • This study investigated elementary preservice teachers' conceptions of a generating line, an ambiguous concept in school mathematics. The preservice teachers' conceptions of a generating line can be classified into four types: (a) only cones have generating lines, (b) only cones and cylinders have generating lines, (c) solids of revolution have generating lines, (d) straight lines on the lateral surface are generating lines. 22.1% of all preservice teachers believed that only cones have generating lines, and most of them followed the definition of a generating line presented in elementary mathematics textbooks. The conception that only cones and cylinders have generating lines was the least investigated. However, since there were instances where generating lines were defined with the use of a director curve, it became important to explore topics more thoroughly, such as generating lines of a truncated cone. 27.9% of all preservice teachers believed that solids of revolution have generating lines. This conception was marked by differing opinions on whether spheres also have generating lines. The conception that straight lines on the lateral surface are generating lines was the most frequently investigated. This conception differs from the traditional view in school mathematics because it suggests using a director curve to define generating lines. Based on these analysis results, the researcher developed specific teaching methods that considered both subject matter knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge for preservice teachers. In addition, the researcher proposed a consensus definition of a generating line in mathematics education.

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data on how to use Generative AI and education to strengthen Generative AI competency in vocational counseling by confirming the experience and perception of job counselors' use of Generative AI. A questionnaire was produced based on literature research and FGI preliminary surveys, and the main contents of the questionnaire were 'experience in using Generative AI (whether to have experience, type of tool, job, educational experience, etc.) and Generative AI recognition (recognition level, usefulness, availability, educational needs, etc.). An online survey was conducted for vocational counselors, and a total of 293 data were analyzed. As a result of major research, first, there were many counselors who had no experience in using Generative AI(60%), and the response that the reason for not using it was because they did not feel the need(28%). Second, the 'degree of recognition' in the Generative AI was somewhat low (M=2.77), and 'Generative AI usefulness' was found to be at a normal level (M=3.32), and it was recognized that it would be necessary mainly for jobs related to 'vocational information'. Third, 'tool (computer use, etc.) competency' (26%) was the highest as the competency required for future vocational counselors, and 'how to use Generative AI' (57%) accounted for a high proportion of the educational content necessary to improve these competencies.

  • In industrial sites, experiential virtual training contents are partially used to replace high-risk and high-cost training, and virtual training contents development is also becoming active along with the increasing demand for non-face-to-face industries. Existing studies mainly focused on quantitative research through surveys, and only measured the change in users' learning commitment. This study attempted to investigate the effect of the combination of theoretical education and virtual training on the improvement of actual job performance in a dual vocational training environment by conducting an experimental study. This study studied whether the combination of theoretical education and virtual training can improve the performance of vocational training in dual vocational training (comparative work and learning) in which companies and schools participate. The results of pre- and post-evaluation of vocational training using traditional vocational training and virtual training contents were compared with 24 vocational training trainees. As a result of the study, it was demonstrated that the outcome of virtual training education was higher than that of traditional vocational training, and the combination of virtual reality-based education was more effective in theoretical education. This study suggests that the virtual training content presents a new paradigm for industrial safety education, and through the interview results of trainees, it was confirmed that virtual training can lead to a change in attitude toward safety beyond just knowledge transfer. This contributes to the prevention of safety accidents in industrial sites and provides important implications for improving the quality of vocational training.

  • Objectives: Paints contain various types of metal substances. However, our review of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for paints found that their components were often kept secret or exact content information was otherwise not provided. We analyzed the metal elements in various inorganic pigment-based paints available in South Korea in this study and checked whether they contain hazardous metal substances as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Acts. We investigated issues of health hazard classification related to the metal elements. The study is intended to contribute to strengthening the management of hazardous substances by suggesting improvements to MSDS. Methods: We randomly selected 19 samples that were predicted to contain hazardous inorganic pigments after reviewing MSDS among paints currently in use. The samples were analyzed using XRF (X-ray Fluorescence spectrometry), ICP_OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy) and SP-ICP-MS (Single Particle-ICP-Mass Spectroscopy). Results: The most common elements in the samples were Al (aluminum), Fe (iron), Ti (titanium), Ca (calcium), and Si (silica). One sample contained more lead than allowed by the limits. There were ten samples that could potentially contain nanoforms, seven samples that contained titanium dioxide, and six samples that contained complex inorganic color pigments (CICPs). Conclusions: Inorganic pigments in paints should be evaluated for hazards separately from other metallic compounds and reflected in the MSDS because they have different characteristics than other metallic compounds. These include particle size, crystal structure, and complex substances. The results of this study can be helpful for determining whether a paint contains sufficient hazardous metal compounds to affect its classification, and it can be a guideline for improving MSDS through comparative review and rationalization with the manufacturer's MSDS. This would make it possible to contribute to the management of chemical substances in the workplace through the proper MSDS disclosure of paints.

  • In light of the development of modern high-tech industries, where human sustainability is becoming increasingly important, anorthosite needs to be reevaluated not only for its potential as a new source of aluminum, but also as a primary resource with a wide range of industrial applications. In particular, a relatively simple chemical composition with a high CaO content and Al2O3/SiO2 ratio, along with its relatively low impurity levels and chemically stable nature offers significant advantages in industrial processes. Thus, anorthosite is considered as an important industrial resource in the age of energy transition. In this review, we examine the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of anorthosite that determines their stability and reactivity. Based on their characteristics, we propose the potential use of utilizing the anorthosite as an alternative to the Bayer process which has the limitations. We also explore its application as the eco-friendly geo-synthetic materials, and as the new materials for carbon dioxide storage and utilization. As the demand for aluminum applications accelerates, anorthosite is gaining their importance in the geological industry and clean energy field. Therefore, advanced and extensive research on anorthosite complex occurring in the Hadong and Sancheong regions of Korea is critical to obtain opportunities to enhance economic advantages through efficient utilization of national resources and to lead to sustainable development.

  • Frutobacillus spp. strains (Fs) were isolated from honeybee larvae to evaluate their functionality and potential use as probiotics. Anti-microbial activity was generally observed in F strains against Gram-negative, Gram-positive, and yeast strains, with F2 and F3 being superior, particularly F2. Kerosene emulsification was similarly observed in strains other, except for F4. Emulsification analysis based on carbon sources showed that F2 had high emulsification in the presence of fructose but lower than the standard strain and 16S rDNA sequence analysis revealed that the F2 was identified as Fructobacillus fructosus. The growth curve of F2 showed maximum growth at 18 hr, followed by a slight increase. Furthermore, antimicrobial activity and pH showed maximum and minimum values at 18 hr, respectively, and remained constant thereafter. Lactic acid content showed a slight decrease after reaching its maximum value at 24 hr of culture. Acid resistance was observed up to pH 2.5, but completely lost at pH 2.0. Bile acid resistance was generally strong. F2's adhesion to mucin was higher compared to S. Typhimurium, which increased until 18 hr of culture and then decreased. Enzyme activity according to anaerobic culture time was high for carboxymethylcellulase (CMCase), avicelase, and mannase, regardless of the presence of fructose. Auto- and co-aggregation were higher compared to the standard strain, and surface hydrophobicity was high for chloroform, which indicates electron donor properties. Therefore, the Fructobacillus fructosus F2 can be considered a potential probiotic due to its excellent anti-microbial, emulsification, acid resistance, bile resistance, CMCase, mannase, and auto- and co-aggregation properties.
