Objectives : Consumption is a chronic wasting disease, in oriental medicine concept. Fatigue is a common symptom experienced by many people who have consumption. However, there has been little study about the relationship between consumption and fatigue in the Oriental medicine. For this reason, we attempted to investigate the present status of fatigue of outpatients, and its relation with consumption index, public health practice index, Chalder fatigue scale and Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test. Methods : The subjects were 149 outpatients who complain fatigue between Nov. 1, 2006 and Oct. 31, 2007. We measured degree of consumption by consumption index. We measured degree of fatigue by Chalder fatigue scale and Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test. Public health practice were investigated by "Breslow's 7 health practice". Results : Studies have shown that a group who disregard public health practices have higher numerical value, in part of $q\grave{i}-x\bar{u}$, $xu\grave{e}-x\bar{u}$, and Physical symptoms than a group more concerned with public health practice. A group who has fatigue for a period over 6 months are more likely to be $q\grave{i}-x\bar{u}$, $y\bar{i}n-x\bar{u}$, Chalder fatigue scale, neuro-sensory symptoms than a group fatigued for less than 6 months. Among the subjects, 81 (55.5%) were considered as 'fatigue patients' by the Chalder scale. Chalder fatigue scale, according to the Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test, consumption also, The more increase of Subjective symptoms of fatigue test, the more of consumption scale. Conclusions : This study has shown that there is a link between consumption and fatigue. Moreover, oriental medicine's consumption is more concrete than fatigue scale, so consumption index will have wide application to the study of fatigue.
This study is to analyze essays on the practices of consumption happiness which the students who took the class 'consumption and happiness' wrote. To do this, 108 essays which the students submitted in both semesters in 2013 were analyzed qualitatively. As a result, the 4 themes such as 'reflection on the life of consumption', 'practices', 'changes', 'recognized meanings of the class' were extracted. Firstly, some students were reflective on their acts of consumption in everyday life. They have consumed in an undisciplined, unthoughtful manner and have experienced various negative emotions in their consumption, and have the motive of change. Secondly, the study showed the consumption of clothes, eating, house, leisure, body, digital, wedding is variously included in their practices of consumption. In the category of common practices, 'sharing consumption giving a bigger happiness', 'sustainable consumption caring about the earth and the next generation', 'smart consumption through discipline', 'responsible consumption considering community and producer', 'field trips and consumption of experience as learning' are included, and 'meaningful feeling of happiness through practices' are extracted. Thirdly, they have experienced positive changes such as reduction in consumption desire and increased concern with mind, relationship and conscious consumption. Fourthly, students think of the class as a necessary, useful, practical subject, and have a precious opportunity to learn many aspects they don't think about before, and don't practice, and say that they persistently continue to practice. Therefore, to promote the happiness as a consumer and consumer citizen leader in the society, it's necessary to offer a related class in more universities.

The purpose of this research is to investigate changes in ethical consumption practices after taking an undergraduate course 'Consumption and Ethics'. Through Qualitative & Quantitative research methods, students' pre-course and post-course attitudes were compared to understand changes in behavior. Before taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics', undergraduate participants displayed little regard for ethical consumption, instead displaying primary sensitivity to price and values based on self-centered and conspicuous consumption. After taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics', participants displayed a more altruistic awareness of consumption on society and the environment. In addition, participants displayed a stronger sense of pride as ethical consumer. These emerging values were contrasted with conflicting feelings resulting from the higher prices often associated with ethical products, feelings of regret resulting from ethically-based impulse purchases, and an inability to categorically evaluate the reliability of available information on the ethical products. However, participants demonstrated a willingness to practice ethical consumption and recommend ethical consumption to their friends and neighbors. Overall, participants in the study demonstrated a strong shift to be an ethical consumer as a result of taking the course 'Consumption and Ethics'.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare student consumption of school meals by school level, to identify the influencing factors of school meal consumption, and to assess improvement needs of school food service among students. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 1,441 elementary, middle, and high school students attending 58 schools in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea participated in the survey in 2015. A questionnaire and informed consent forms for students and legal guardians were sent home and completed responses were returned to the researcher. RESULTS: Approximately 58% of the students perceived the portion sizes of school meals as appropriate and 76.1% consumed almost all or all of the meals served. More elementary and middle school students than high school students consumed almost all or all of the meals (P < 0.001). A regression analysis revealed that the students with a higher dietary behavior score (P < 0.001), higher satisfaction with food service (P < 0.001), a higher environmental protection practice score (P < 0.05), and more positive attitudes toward school meals (P < 0.01) consumed significantly more meals. The provision of foods that taste good and reflecting student opinions on menus were the most important factors for increasing school meal consumption. CONCLUSIONS: To increase consumption of school meals, food service staff should provide students with quality meals and engage students in school food service. Nutrition education that emphasizes healthy eating behaviors and cafeteria environment modification that applies strategies based on behavioral economics can encourage students to consume more school meals.
