  • In terms of deregulation requests from business, incidents at construction sites are rapidly increasing after reducing the regular safety training hours. Especially, to prevent incidents through safety trainings for construction site workers, who have lots of hazardous tasks than general manufacturing, is not only to protect property of both the companies and the country but also to increase their profits. That is why there are loud voices regarding that the safety training is a core mandatory to prevent industrial incidents. But, most companies, as soon as the deregulation for safety training is implemented, mitigated conducting safety trainings to prevent incidents. With this, the incidents are currently to be increased and caught in a vicious circle of many incidents at the smaller companies because of their absentmindedness regarding safety training due to their poorness as subcontractors of major companies, comparing to major companies. This study explains that the difference between managers and workers are existing about safety awareness and knowledge. And, we confirmed that the educational factor led by deficiency of safety awareness and knowledge was the major factor.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose and introduce Accidents Prevention Remedies(APRs) and their priorities especially for Accident Causing factors(ACFs) drawn by surveying and analyzing how much foreign workers in Korea have been exposed to dangers at a construction site. At frist as a result of the analysis of the questionnaire which 59 foreign industrial trainees working at the construction sites in Seoul-Kyunggi area had responsed, 12 ACFs and 11 APRs were put out by using the SPSS programme. Then, through the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) about the questionnaire from 96 safety and civil engineers who have experienced in managing foreign labor at the construction sites all over the country, the APRs given their priorities of relative importances are as follows; First, it is absolutely necessary that every working order to foreign workers should be made more definitely in accordance with a concrete process schedule. Second, the owners should increase investments in improving foreign workers' welfare in order to minimize their potential human error. Third, Korean language education programme for simple technical terms should be made and executed at least.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between aluminum form work and noise-induced deafness by conducting special health examination on construction aluminum worker and noise measurement at the workplace. All the 11 aluminum form workers were diagnosed with noise-induced deafness after holding a special health examination. The workers have not had any previous history of noise-induced deafness which indicates that aluminum form work is related to noise-induced deafness disease. The impact noise of 120 dB(A)~125 dB(A), which exceeds the regulations of industrial safety and health act, was found during the dismantling rather than installation when noise measurement was made at the aluminum workplace. The aluminum form workers could permanently lose the hearing sense if they are exposed to this impact noise. This study is to suggest the method to prevent noise-induced deafness for aluminum form workers by firstly giving out hearing protection equipment at the construction site and secondly installing rubber mat, soundproof panel as well as changing the noise-lowering technique.

  • While pursuing digitalization and paperless projects, the construction industry needs to settle on how to make the most of digitized data and information. On-site workers, who currently rely on paper documents to check and review design and construction plans, will need alternative ways to efficiently access the information without using any paper. Augmented Reality is a potential solution where the information customized to a user is aligned with the physical world. This paper proposes the Augmented Reality framework to deliver the information on on-site resources (e.g., workers and equipment) using head-mounted devices. The proposed framework was developed by interoperating Augmented Reality-supported devices and a digital twin platform in which all information related to ongoing tasks is accumulated in real-time. On-site resources appearing in the user's field of view are automatically detected by an object detection algorithm and then assigned to the corresponding information by matching the data in the digital twin platform. Preliminary experiments show the feasibility of the proposed framework. Worker detection results can be visualized on HoloLens 2 in near real-time, and the matching process obtained the accuracy greater than 88%.

  • In case of reducing working time, it is difficult that the construction industry is analyzed far-reaching effects caused by a reduction of working time, by approaching with just the total amount of work. Because it has the properties such as the singularity, the outdoor using, a sense of the season unlike other industries. In order to analyze the effect of a reduction of working time on the construction industry, the example of a reduction of working time in domestic other industries related with it was analyzed intensively first. And an example in Japan, which is similar to our existing related laws and industrial structure among foreign construction industries was analyzed, and a relation with the domestic construction industries and an issue were drown a conclusion. This was applied to a field worker and a related main group participating in a real production. And it showed the prediction model for a working pattern and a dealing plan to prepare in a construction site by predicting a working pattern in the management side of a construction site annually.

  • Many pictures are taken at a construction site, but the information of the pictures is not managed in an efficient and systematic manner. For this reason, when a construction worker has scant field experience or knowledge, it is hard to communicate with others efficiently. Therefore, the information of the pictures taken is not fully utilized in any deliberation or conflict among interested parties, facilities maintenance, and construction of another structure, although they were taken for those purposes. This study discusses the need for combining vector-photos with image and 5W and 1H information, and develops a prototype module for creating vector-photos and saving them in a server. The vector-photos taken can be saved to a server in real time, and efficiently managed by a DB system. If a system to link the vector-photos with a BIM model is developed in the future, it is expected that the vector information in the picture can be connected with the property information of an object. As a result, the vector-photos can be utilized in more diverse ways.

  • The attempt to use a 3D model each field such as design, structure, construction, facilities, and estimation in the construction project has recently increased more and more while BIM (Building Information Modeling) that manages the process of generating and managing building data has risen during life cycle of a construction project. While the 2D Drawing based work of each field is achieved in the already existing construction project, the BIM based construction project aims at accomplishing 3D model based work of each field efficiently. Accordingly, the solution that fits 3D model based work of each field and supports plans in order to efficiently accomplish the relevant work is demanded. The estimation, one of the fields of the construction project, has applied BIM to calculate quantity and cost of the building materials used to construction works after taking off building quantity information from the 3D model by a item for a Quantity Take-off grouping the materials relevant to a 3D object. A 3D based estimation program has been commonly used in abroad advanced countries using BIM. The program can only calculate quantity related to one 3D object. In other words, it doesn't support the take-off process considering quantity of a contiguous object. In case of temporary materials used in the frame construction, there are instances where quantity is different by the contiguous object. For example, the formwork of the temporary materials quantity is changed by dimensions of the contiguous object because formwork of temporary materials goes through the quantity take-off process that deduces quantity of the connected object when different objects are connected. A worker can compulsorily adjust quantity so as to recognize the different object connected to the contiguous object and deduces quantity, but it mainly causes the confusion of work because it must complexly consider quantity of other materials related to the object besides. Therefore, this study is to propose the solution that automates the formwork 3D modeling to efficiently accomplish the quantity take-off of formwork by preventing the confusion of the work which is caused by the quantity deduction process between the contiguous object and the connected object.
