  • Electro Otical Tracking System(EOTS) is required for a rapid movement as well as the stabilization of Line-Of-Sight(LOS). In order to achieve these two goals, this paper presents a position and velocity driving profile generation method from the constant acceleration and deceleration profile according to the current state, enabling a fast and smooth trajectory even if the target position changes during the movement of LOS. Simulation and experimental results reveal that the settling time could be reduced significantly by adopting the present position control scheme.

  • In this paper, the steady-state operating performance analysis for the three-phase squirrel cage rotor self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) in addition to a constant-speed prime mover (CSPM) is presented on the basis of an effective algorithm based on its frequency-domain equivalent circuit. The operating characteristics of the three-phase SEIG coupled by a VSPM and/or a CSPM are evaluated on line processing under the condition of the electrical passive load parameters variations with simple and efficient computation processing procedure in unregulated voltage control loop scheme. A three-phase SEIG prototype setup with a VSPM as well as a CSPM is implemented for the small-scale clean renewable and alternative energy utilizations. The experimental operating characteristic results are illustrated and give good agreements with the simulation ones.

  • In this paper, robust control method using fuzzy PI parameter tuning is proposed to control constant thrust force on load variation. First, a structure and thrust force equations of the LPM are described. Second, an controller with PI parameter-tuning using a fuzzy theory is proposed to achieve high-precision position with constant thrust force of the LPM. Finally, the effectiveness of an fuzzy PI controller is demonstrated by some simulated and experimental results. Accurate tracking response and superior dynamic performance can be obtained due to the powerful on-line Fuzzy PI gain tuning method with regard parametric variations and load thrust force variations.

  • In this article a neural network adaptive observer is proposed and applied to the case of induction motor control. The high performance vector control drives require exact knowledge of rotor flux. Because rotor time constant is needed to observe rotor flux, the accurate estimation of rotor time constant is important. For these problems, proposed observer which comprises neural network flux observer and neural network torque observer is trained to learn the flux dynamics and torque dynamics and subject to further on-line training by means of a backpropagation algorithem. Therefore it has been shown that the robust control of induction motor neglects the rotor time constant variations.

  • A longitudinal modal transmission-line theory(L-MTLT) to analyze the static and dynamic behavior of two-section distributed feedback (DFB) lasers is used. The characteristic impedance and equivalent propagation constant of DFB structure with active layer are derived from L-MTLT. A two-section DFB laser is analogous to a transmission-line network, in which each section is described by transmission-line block corresponding to the equivalent factors. The longitudinal resonant condition of DFB laser based on equivalent transmission-line network is used to reformulate the rate equations so that static and dynamic behavior of two-section DFB lasers with active layer is demonstrated and analyzed accurately.

  • This paper is a study of Le Corbusier's trace regulateur of the 1920s, particularly its role in the design of the Villas La Roche-Jeanneret and Stein-de Monzie. It proceeds on the basis of the following three themes: first, the relation between the regulating line and the dom-ino frame; second, its status as a proportional device based not on a module system but one that defines relations; third, its function as an essential practical device in the design process. In the Villa La Roche-Jeanneret, the embedded horizontal planes of the dom-ino frame were constant, but the vortical lines of the columns were altered according to the changes in plan. Initially, a left-hand bay window formed a symmetry with the right-hand bay window, the only constant in the design process. With subsequent changes, mullion sections of the horizontal window and roof elements came to provide the reference points for the regulating line. Eventually, a regulating line different from the one that controlled the bay window and the elongated volume came to control the entrance hall of Villa La Roche, resulting in three different kinds of regulating lines in the final version. In contrast to the Villa La Roche-Jeanneret, a singular and consistent regulation line was anticipated in the earliest design stages of the Villa Stein-de Monzie. The repetition of its A:B grid and the standard $2.5m{\times}1.0m$ sliding window determined the proportions of both its plan and elevation, and thus the regulating line became 'automatic,' losing its viability as a practical tool. Though the regulating titles of the La Roche-Jeanneret look as if they were an afterthought, drawn after the design was complete, they were most active, requiring tenacity and discipline in their application. On the other hand, the seemingly 'redundant' regulating line of the Villa Stein-de Monzie gains its raison d'etre from the dom-ino frame. Its cantilevers and uninterrupted horizontal window could be used in decisive fashion because of the guarantee that the correct proportion would always be maintained. Thus we discover that Le Corbusier's discipline of the 1920s had a certain spectrum of flexibility. His 'parti' ranged from the extremely loose and malleable grid of the Villa La Roche-Jeanneret to the fixed grid of the Villa Stein-de Monzie. In different ways, these projects retain the tension between the dom-ino frame and the regulating line. For Le Corbusier, as much as the grid was an object with fixed attributes, it was also an active medium manipulated by the will of the architect.

  • We show that any F-harmonic map from a compact manifold M to N is necessarily constant if N possesses a strictly-convex function, and prove 'Liouville type theorems' for F-harmonic maps. Finally, when the target manifold is the real line, we get a result for F-subharmonic functions.

  • In this study, the concrete fracture energy was obtained using the three point notched beam test method developed by Hillerborg et al. (Cem Concr Res 6(6):773-782, 1976). A total of 12 notched concrete beams were tested under two different loading conditions: constant stroke control and constant crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) control. Despite individual fracture energies obtained from the two different loading conditions showing some variation, the average fracture energy from both loading conditions was very similar. Furthermore, the results obtained support the idea that a far tail constant "A" could change the true fracture energy by up to 11 %, if it is calculated using CMOD instead of LVDT. The far tail constant "A" is determined using a least squares fit onto a straight line according to Elices et al. (Mater Struct 25(148):212-218, 1992) and RILEM report (2007). It was also observed that the selection of the end point can produce variations of the true fracture energy. The end point indicates the point in the experiment at which to stop. An end point of 2 mm has been recommended, however, in this study other end points were also considered. The final form of the bilinear softening curve was determined based on Elices and Guinea's methods (1992, 1994) and RILEM report (2007). This paper proposes a bilinear stress-crack opening displacement curve according to test results as well as the CEB-FIP model code.

  • This paper develops a pump system for patient with chronic pain or cancer. The pump module is consists of two micro-valve and membrane. The micro-valve is operated by a solenoid. With two solenoid valves which are connected via a drug transport line, the inlet and outlet are completely blocked. A silicon rubber membrane located between the two valves makes the flow-rate constant without any backflow. This pump module can control the flow-rate of drugs by controlling the time that the valves are opened and closed. The reservoir consists of a drug chamber and a gas chamber. As the gas chamber encloses the drug chamber, propellant gas which is injected into the gas chamber pressurizes the drug chamber regardless of volume of the drug chamber. To design the pump module, analysis a constant efficiency test, and accuracy test for the pump module were conducted.
