  • For the speed control of motors, the position or speed sensors are necessary to obtain the position information of the rotor. Specially, SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) needs an accurate rotor position data because both the rotor and the stator have a salient pole structure. High functional sensors like resolver or encoder are expensive and have complex connecting lines to the controller so the pure signals are apt to be mixed with noised. In the sight of SRM drives, the high temperature, heavy dust, and the EMI surroundings reduce the reliability of speed and position sensors. Therefore, the speed and position sensorless control algorithms using observer have been accepted widely. In this paper An adaptive sliding observer is described to control the SRM without speed or position sensors. The adaptive sliding observer is set on the basis of variable structure control theory. The sliding surface is constructed by current error terms and this surface guarantees the errors converge to "zero". The stability of observer is affirmed by Lyapunov stability analysis and popov's hyper stability theory.ty theory.

  • The stereostatic surgery becomes a important part of neurosurgery. The conventional style of stereostatic system uses a input method of film digitizing. It is time consuming and laborious. In this paper, we presented a system that can manage digital images from medical imaging machine to surgery assisting program. CT images were transferred in DICOM format to a surgery assisting computer in a operation room through PACS. The streotatic surgery assisting program processed the digital images and calculated the parameters that were required in steostatic surgery. The assisting program were developed that can detect the reference points automatically, transform CT coordinate to frame coordinate and calculate the RM (Riechert-Mundinger) frame. This system were applied to clinical cases in Seoul National Univ. Hospital. The two advantages of this system were revealed. The processing time from imaging to surgery parameters were much aster than conventional system. The surgery accuracy were more mininute as the digitizing error were reduced. This system were a good application of connecting imaging machines to clinical treatment system through PACS.

  • Although three-dimensional measurement systems for the human body have been studied, there is still an error between the measurements by the two-dimensional measurement method and the three-dimensional scanning method. Especially, in the case of the breast, the outline is not clear. The breast is made up of subcutaneous fat and mammary gland tissue, and it is easy to deform, making it difficult to grasp the exact shape. It is also more difficult to measure photogrammetry or three-dimensional measurement because it is difficult to obtain subjects because of the shame they are reluctant to expose. In this study, the angle and length of the line connecting the measurement points of the breast detail measurement items were compared with the unchanged measurement items such as breast width and center front length using the frontal and lateral photographs taken before and after breast enlargement surgery. The results of the study are as follows. The types of breast before and after surgery were classified into two groups and showed high accuracy rate. Therefore, it was possible to classify the breast type using the frontal and lateral views of the breast, and it was found that The PRM method can distinguish the characteristics of the breast type. Therefore, it can be useful for classifying and discriminating breast types.

  • Through-silicon vias (TSVs) are fine, deep holes fabricated for connecting vertically stacked wafers during three-dimensional packaging of semiconductors. Measurement of the TSV geometry is very important because TSVs that are not manufactured as designed can cause many problems, and measuring the critical dimension (CD) of TSVs becomes more and more important, along with depth measurement. Applying white-light scanning interferometry to TSV measurement, especially the bottom CD measurement, is difficult due to the attenuation of light around the edge of the bottom of the hole when using a low numerical aperture. In this paper we propose and demonstrate four bottom CD measurement methods for TSVs: the cross section method, profile analysis method, tomographic image analysis method, and the two-dimensional Gaussian fitting method. To verify and demonstrate these methods, a practical TSV sample with a high aspect ratio of 11.2 is prepared and tested. The results from the proposed measurement methods using white-light scanning interferometry are compared to results from scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements. The accuracy is highest for the cross section method, with an error of 3.5%, while a relative repeatability of 3.2% is achieved by the two-dimensional Gaussian fitting method.

  • This paper presents a 20-Gb/s optical receiver circuit fabricated with standard 65-nm CMOS technology. Our receiver circuits are designed with consideration for parasitic inductance and capacitance due to bonding wires connecting the photodetector and the circuit realized separately. Such parasitic inductance and capacitance usually disturb the high-speed performance but, with careful circuit design, we achieve optimized wide and flat response. The receiver circuit is composed of a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with a DC-balancing buffer, a post amplifier (PA), and an output buffer. The TIA is designed in the shunt-feedback configuration with inductive peaking. The PA is composed of a 6-stage differential amplifier having interleaved active feedback. The receiver circuit is mounted on a FR4 PCB and wire-bonded to an equivalent circuit that emulates a photodetector. The measured transimpedance gain and 3-dB bandwidth of our optical receiver circuit is 84 $dB{\Omega}$ and 12 GHz, respectively. 20-Gb/s $2^{31}-1$ electrical pseudo-random bit sequence data are successfully received with the bit-error rate less than $10^{-12}$. The receiver circuit has chip area of $0.5mm{\times}0.44mm$ and it consumes excluding the output buffer 84 mW with 1.2-V supply voltage.

  • In order to improve the quality of electricity in large scale power systems, stability of power system has to be achieved. This can be done by the means of preventative diagnosis of power equipments and protection, monitoring and control of the power system. Since the recent adoption of digital controllers, an improvement in stability was observed; in particular, IED, which contained self-diagnostic abilities such as fault tolerance, allowed for automatic recovery via redundancy or switching-over functions should there be faults with the equipments. Furthermore, communication lines have been hugely simplified, thus adding to the improvement in stability significantly. Taking these error reports and forecasting emergency reports and by effectively responding to them in the overiding controlling systems, high levels of system stability can be obtained. Power Management System that is being applied to automated power sub-stations, takes the IEC61850 international standard as its specification. In this paper, additional research into achieving stability of already developed PMS system and also the stability of the overall system was carried out, and the results of development of communication servers, which play a pivotal role in connecting systems, are stated.

  • The importance of process for repair and reinforcement of the bridge is increasing because of the lack of the fatigue load and stress, a lowering of the bridge load carrying capacity owing to impact and oscillation, deterioration on cultivation periods of the bridge, etc. Typically the experimenter values the bridge load carrying capacity by the real rating factor and response modification factor in bridge load rating through static load test and dynamic load test. But the error occurred in reliability of response modification factor in bridge load rating according to experience of experimenter. so tests of connecting probability theory and valuation of the bridge recently. The study is to compute the real load carrying capacity of the bridge and the rating factor and response modification factor on grade of the bridge, and calculate the probability of over-loaded truck load from Weigh In Motion(WIM) Data in FORTRAN programming applying to Monte-Carlo Simulation. At the result of this study, it is acquired that the new grade is computed for the probability of over-loaded truck load and surface inspection. The A grade is over 1.95, B grade is $1.55{\sim}1.94$, C grade is $1.26{\sim}1.54$, D grade is $1.14{\sim}1.25$, E grade is under 1.13 of rating factor, respectively.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the Multi-Carrier (MC) CDMA system by adopting multi-interference cancellation techniques connecting an adaptive array antenna and a CCI canceller in cascade form. And, we have analyzed the BER performance of system in AWGN channel where MUI is a major interference degrading the performance of the proposed MC CDMA system. Also, we have evaluated the degree of performance improvement in the proposed MC CDMA system. As the result of analysis, a CCI canceller is better efficient than an adaptive array antenna in the performance improvement and that the performance improvement becomes large as the number of users increases when multi-interference cancellation techniques are used in cascade form. Also, we found that performance of $10^{-5}$ in a point of view BER could be achieved when $E_b/N_o$ is more than 10 dB.

  • As wireless communication continues to develop in limited frequency resource environments, it is becoming important to identify the state of spectrum utilization and predict the amount needed in future. It is essential to collect reliable information for data analysis. This paper introduces a platform that enables the gathering of the scheduling information of a long-term evolution (LTE) cellular system without connecting to the network. A typical LTE terminal can confirm its assigned resource information using the configuration parameters delivered from a network. However, our platform receives and captures only the LTE signal over the air and then enables the estimation of the data relevant to scheduling for all terminals within an LTE cell. After extracting the control channel signal without loss from all LTE subframes, it detects valid downlink control information using the proposed algorithm, which is based on the error vector magnitude of depatterned symbols. We verify the reliability of the developed platform by comparing it with real data from mobile phones and service operators. The average difference in resource block utilization is only 0.28%.

  • In an effort to minimize operational expenses and supply users with more scalable services, distributed applications are actually going towards the Cloud. These applications, sent out over multiple environments and machines, are composed by inter-connecting independently developed services and components. The implementation of such programs on the Cloud is difficult and generally carried out either by hand or perhaps by composing personalized scripts. This is extremely error prone plus it has been found that misconfiguration may be the root of huge mistakes. We introduce AutoBot, a flexible platform for modeling, installing and (re)configuring complex distributed cloud-based applications which evolve dynamically in time. AutoBot includes three modules: A simple and new model describing the configuration properties and interdependencies of components; a dynamic protocol for the deployment and configuration ensuring appropriate resolution of these interdependencies; a runtime system that guarantee the proper configuration of the program on many virtual machines and, if necessary, the reconfiguration of the deployed system. This reduces the manual application deployment process that is monotonous and prone to errors. Some validation experiments were conducted on AutoBot in order to ensure that the proposed system works as expected. We also discuss the opportunity of reusing the platform in the transition of applications from Cloud to Fog computing.
