  • The basic framework of traditional Korean clothing construction consists of circle, square and triangle. This composition principle has been presumed to be associated with the Cheonbu concept of the Dangun era wherein nature and human being are considered united. The Cheonbu concept is represented by circle, square and triangle which constitute Cheonbuin, the images and meanings of heaven. It contains profound philosophy wherein a circle symbolizes heaven and represents number one, a square symbolizes earth and represents the number two, and a triangle symbolizes human beings and represents the number three. Circles, squares and triangles have been used as various symbolic meanings both in the east and west and constitute the framework of Hanbok construction while connoting the Cheonbu concept and symbolism of the Cosmo-tree. From this point of view, the unity of human beings and heaven in Cheonbugyeong is symbolically inherent in Hanbok. Therefore, Hanbok with the basic framework of circles, squares and triangles can be considered a positive creation that created a composition principle of body-nature-clothing.

  • Nature-learning place is a critical space together with nature center in Natural parks. But there are serious faults on these design and planning as for the landscape ecological consideration. The objective of this paper was to suggest the ecological alternatives through analyzing existing cases of nature-teaming place in Natural parte. Five case sites in Natural parks were selected in Chollabukdo. Three landscape indices- subjectivity, natural prototype, nativity, were introduced for evaluating the existing cases. Results showed that those are short of landscape ecological senses- Biotope target species, ecological vegetation patches, eco-corridor concept. A proposal for the ecological planning in Deokyusan Natural park was suggested according to several criteria with biotopes as forest and stream patches and the corridor. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, existing natural-loaming sites should be evaluated in light of landscape ecological indices. Second, they can be designed to work with the concept of the biotope patch and corridor for target species. The results of this study could provide critical guidelines for the ecological planning and design of natural-loaming sites in nature parks.

  • We describe a new representation for learning concepts that differs from the traditional decision tree and rule induction algorithms. Our algorithm PROLEARN learns one or more prototype per class and follows instance based classification with them. Prototype here differs from psychological term in that we can have more than one prototype per concept and also differs from other instance based algorithms since the prototype is a "ficticious ideal example". We show that PROLEARN is as good as the traditional machine learning algorithms but much move stable than them in an environment that has noise or changing training set, what we call 'stability’.tability’.

  • The advent of KM(knowledge management) concept have led many organizations to seek an effective way to make use of their knowledge. But the absence of right tools for systematic handling of unstructured information makes it difficult to automatically retrieve and share relevant information that exactly meet user's needs. we propose a systematic method to enable content-based information retrieval from corpus of unstructured documents. In our method, a document is represented by using several key terms which are automatically selected based on their quantitative relevancy to the document. Basically, the relevancy is calculated by using a traditional TFIDF measure that are widely accepted in the related research, but to improve effectiveness of the measure, we exploited 'concept network' that represents term-term relationships. In particular, in constructing the concept network, we have also considered relative position of terms occurring in a document. A prototype system for experiment has been implemented. The experiment result shows that our approach can have higher performance over the conventional TFIDF method.

  • A contemporary office space is changed by the transformation to an information-oriented society from an industrial society. A contemporary office space is recognized as an interactional space which is more of a mental and psychological space than a physical space. I studied the basic concept of an office space and the relationship of a social change and an office space on this study. I also studied the concept of an ubiquitous computing and the relationship of an ubiquitous computing and an office space. Through this study, we can establish the new concept of an office space to be applied to an ubiquitous concept. The ubiquitous concept of an office space will be brought into a new prototype of an office space, and then there is no more important to a physical place and time. The office space must be redesigned by an ubiquitous space nowadays.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the prototype system for microwave heating in a manufacture process of alkali activated Hwangtoh binder as replacement materials for the cement in concrete. In order to achieve this, four research phases are carried out as follows: 1) establishment of a system concept 2) deduction of a system element 3) design of the entire system 4) making of the prototype system for microwave heating.

  • A novel water-turbine, Katamax, for micro hydropower generator is proposed, which has reasonable efficiency even in two meters of water head. The basic concept of Katamax is similar to that of waterwheel except that Katamax has two axis on which the blades rotate, where general waterwheel has only one. Brief structure and principles of Katamax are explained and analysis for efficiency of each module are provided. The result of the prototype product of Katamax is briefly explained.

  • Considering the need for a clothing product design strategy for the sustainable growth of outdoor brands, this study analyzed an outdoor consumer survey applying selected sustainable elements, reflected the results in design planning, suggested prototypes, and presented a design strategy. The consumer survey was conducted from July 19 to July 25, 2022, and 216 respondents were used for analysis. As a result of the outdoor consumer survey analysis of selected sustainable elements, the most preferred outdoor design concept involved the keywords 'zero waste' and 'transformable design' from a sustainable economic perspective. An outer jacket design was then created focusing on these two keywords and a prototype was produced. The SCD (sustainability, consumer, designer) design strategy was presented as a strategy for sustainable growth of outdoor brands, and the key factors of this strategy are as follows: (a) application of sustainable design elements, (b) reflection of consumer opinions on sustainability, (c) designers' sustainable mindset and decisions.

  • Almost all buildings/infrastructures made of composite materials are fabricated without proper design. Unlike airplane or automobile parts, prototype test is impossible. One cannot destroy 10 story buildings or 100-meter long bridges. People try to build 100-story buildings or several thousand meter long bridges. In order to realize "composites in construction", the following subjects must be studied in detail, for his design. Concept optimization, Simple method of analysis, Folded plate theory, Size effects in failure, and Critical frequency. Unlike the design procedure with conventional materials, his design should include material design, selection of manufacturing methods, and quality control methods, in addition to the fabrication method. In this paper, concept optimization and folded plate theory are presented for practicing engineers.engineers.
