  • Interaction requires dynamic relationship between objects. In ubiquitous computing environment, interaction between human and the environment is implied. Tactile interaction has so far been less addressed, while tactile sensation should be an important topic in the field of multimedia study. This paper describes development of a novel PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) dynamic tactile sensor and associated experiments. PVDF dynamic tactile sensors detect touch events applied to the sensor skin by low frequency components of the signal. Rubber skin-covered sensing material was mounted on the bones. Robust performance with low noise was figured out in our robotic experiment. Whereas most conventional sensors are interested in measurement, our dynamic tactile sensor is sensitive to change of state, which could be a key for economic understanding of happenings in the dynamic world. We note that dynamic sensing uses motion as a part of sensing modality We suggest that dynamic sensing be understood in technological terms in the perspective of interactive media and ubiquitous computing.

  • As per increasing research interest in the field of collaborative computing in recent year, the importance of security issues on that area is also incrementally growing. Generally, the persistency of collaborative system is facilitated with conventional authentication and cryptography schemes. It is however, hard to meet the access control requirements of distributed collaborative computing environments by means of merely apply the existing access control mechanisms. The distributed collaborative system must consider the network openness, and various type of subjects and objects while, the existing access control schemes consider only some of the access control elements such as identity, rule, and role. However, this may cause the state of security level alteration phenomenon. In order to handle proper access control in collaborative system, various types of access control elements such as identity, role, group, degree of security, degree of integrity, and permission should be taken into account. Futhermore, if we simply define all the necessary access control elements to implement access control algorithm, then collaborative system consequently should consider too many available objects which in consequence, may lead drastic degradation of system performance. In order to improve the state problems, we propose a novel access control framework that is suitable for the distributed collaborative computing environments. The proposed scheme defines several different types of object elements for the accessed objects and subjects, and use them to implement access control which allows us to guarantee more solid access control. Futhermore, the objects are distinguished by three categories based on the characteristics of the object elements, and the proposed algorithm is implemented by the classified objects which lead to improve the systems' performance. Also, the proposed method can support scalability compared to the conventional one. Our simulation study shows that the performance results are almost similar to the two cases; one for the collaborative system has the proposed access control scheme, and the other for it has not.

  • Beyond simple transfer of information through sensor network, this study will provide the insights about the way to embody the real context aware location based service in an ubiquitous computing environment. In this paper, a new formal approach is introduced to derive knowledge about the scope of influence for a point object. A scope of influence is defined as the conceptual area where there is a possibility of the phenomenon or event occurring because of this point object. A point object can be spatially extended by considering this scope of influence in conjunction with the point. These point objects are called Spatially Extended Point (SEP) objects. Compositions of gradual changes of topological relations between a SEP and the environment near the SEP show how to represent the qualitative spatial behaviors of a SEP objects. These qualitative spatial behaviors will be good standards for Location Based Service (LBS) to provide more subdivided and suitable information to the users.

  • Skyline queries have recently received considerable attention in the searching services. The skyline contains interesting objects that are not dominated by any other objects on all dimensions. Many related works have processed a skyline on static data or on moving objects in Euclidean space. However, this paper assumes that the point of a skyline query continuously moves in road networks. We propose a new method that efficiently processes continuous skyline queries in road networks through pre-computed shortest range data of objects. Our experiments show that the proposed method is about 100 times faster than previous methods in terms of query processing time.

  • CORBA is a middleware which enables distributed objects to cooperate regardless of specific platforms and techniques. But the ordinary CORBA communication model does not support multi-cast, and needs delay time, because it synchronously connects the distributed objects between client and server. To solve these problems, OMG suggests CORBA Event Service which can provide multi-cast among application objects. This paper presents a new technique for improving reliability, and supporting two-way communication by laying two interface objects on each consumers and suppliers that are registered in event channel. Also, to integrate objects efficiently, we, group distributed event channels and management it as view, A coordinator selected from channel group controls group and view.

  • Markerless augmented reality system must have the capability to recognize and match natural objects both in indoor and outdoor environment. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for extracting features and recognizing natural objects using visual descriptors and codebooks. Since the augmented reality applications are sensitive to speed of operation and real time performance, our work mainly focused on recognition of multi-class natural objects and reduce the computing time for classification and feature extraction. SIFT(scale invariant feature transforms) and SURF(speeded up robust feature) are used to extract features from natural objects during training and testing, and their performance is compared. Then we form visual codebook from the high dimensional feature vectors using clustering algorithm and recognize the objects using naive Bayes classifier.

  • Recently, the wireless positioning techniques and mobile computing techniques have rapidly developed to use location data of moving objects. The more the number of moving objects is numerous and the more periodical sampling of locations is frequent, the more location data of moving objects become very large. Hence the system should be able to efficiently manage mass location data, support various spatio-temporal queries for LBS, and solve the uncertainty problem of moving objects. Therefore, in this paper, innovating the location data of moving object effectively, we propose Rend 3DR-tree method to decrease the dead space and complement the overlapping of nodes by utilizing 3DR-tree with the indexing structure to support indexing of current data and history data.

  • Location based services based on positions of moving objects are expanding the business area gradually. The location is included all estimate position of the future as well as the position of the present and the past. Location based routing service is active business application in which the position information of moving objects is applied efficiently. This service includes the trajectory of past positions, the real-time tracing of present position of special moving objects, and the shortest and optimized paths combined with map information. In this paper, we describes the location based routing services is extend in distributed web GIS environment. Web GIS service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user - interface. That is, we propose the efficient architecture and technologies for servicing the location based routing services in distributed web GIS environment. The position of moving objects is acquired by GPS (Global Positioning System) and converted the coordinate of real world by map matching with geometric information. We suppose the swapping method between main memory and storages to access the quite a number of moving objects. And, the result of location based routing services is wrapped the web-styled data format. We design the schema based on the GML. We design these services as components were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and provide the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re - usability.

  • In order to extract 3-dimensional information from 2-D image, stereo images are prerequisite. Moreover, for the measurement of moving objects, the synchronized sequential stereo images have to be captured and image matching should be implemented for determining the location of moving objects. In this research, a simple method computing 3-dimensional coordinates from sequential images of moving objects was implemented. The sequential stereo images were captured by a video camera with a beam splitter. Once video images were digitalized by frame grabber, the interest points were extracted and matched in each stereo image, and the coordinates of center of them are calculated using weighted average method. Then, 3-dimensional coordinates of moving objects were computed by DLT algorithms.

  • The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) enables physical objects or things to be virtually accessible for both consuming and providing services. Undue access from irresponsible activities becomes an interesting issue to address. Maintenance of data integrity and privacy of objects is important from the perspective of security. Privacy can be achieved through various techniques: password authentication, cryptography, and the use of mathematical models to assess the level of security of other objects. Individual methods like these are less effective in increasing the security aspect. Comprehensive security schemes such as the use of frameworks are considered better, regardless of the framework model used, whether centralized, semi-centralized, or distributed ones. In this paper, we propose a new semi-centralized security framework that aims to improve privacy in IoT using the parameters of trust and reputation. A new algorithm to elect a reputation coordinator, i.e., ConTrust Manager is proposed in this framework. This framework allows each object to determine other objects that are considered trusted before the communication process is implemented. Evaluation of the proposed framework was done through simulation, which shows that the framework can be used as an alternative solution for improving security in the IoT.
