  • In this paper, a blackbox approach is carried out to model the nonlinear dynamic bushing model. One-axis durability test is performed to describe the mechanical behavior of typical vehicle elastomeric components. The results of the tests are used to develop an empirical bushing model with an artificial neural network. The back propagation algorithm is used to obtain the weighting factor of the neural network. Since the output for a dynamic system depends on the histories of inputs and outputs, Narendra's algorithm of ‘NARMAX’ form is employed in the neural network bushing module. A numerical example is carried out to verify the developed bushing model.

  • Due to the limitations of the channel length, the lateral spread for two-dimensional impurity distributions is critical for the analysis of devices including the integrated complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits and high frequency semiconductor devices. The developed codes were then compared with the two-dimensional implanted profiles measured by transmission electron microscope (TEM) as well as simulated by a commercial TSUPREM4 for verification purposes. The measured two-dimensional TEM data obtained by chemical etching-method was consistent with the results of the developed analytical model, and it seemed to be more accurate than the results attained by a commercial TSUPREM4. The developed codes can be applied on a wider energy range $(1KeV{\sim}30MeV)$ than a commercial TSUPREM4 of which the maximum energy range cannot exceed 1MeV for the limited doping elements. Moreover, it is not only limited to diffusion process but also can be applied to implantation due to the sloped and nano scale structure of the mask.

  • Nowadays, with the advancement of computational mechanics, and vehicle dynamics simulation linked up with virtual testing laboratory(VTL) and virtual proving ground(VPG) technologies has become a useful method for analyzing numerous driving performances and diverse noise/vibration characteristics. In this paper, the analytical vehicle model based on multi-body dynamics theory was developed to investigate the vibration characteristics according to various road conditions. For the purpose, the whole vehicle parameters, each vehicle's part parameter, and part connecting elements such as spring, damper, and bush were measured by an experiment. Also, the vehicle dynamics model, which includes the front suspension, rear suspension, steering, front wheel, rear wheel, and body subsystems has been constructed for computer simulation. With the developed vehicle dynamics model, three forces and three moments measured at each wheel center were applied to evaluate and analyze dynamics and vibration characteristics for miscellaneous road conditions.

  • A new quantitative method was developed for separation of three interactive physiological factors (hepatic glucose balance, peripheral tissue's insulin resistivity, and insulin secretion rate) influencing glucose intolerance in diabetic mellitus using an equivalent circuit model and the intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) in six dogs and twenty two humans. The results show that the estimated model parameters of the above three factors are useful for evaluating different glucose-insulin kinetics in normal and diabetic subjects.

  • Water quality simulation models include the difference between the measured and estimated values as an inevitable consequence because they represent the complicated natural phenomena as simplified mathematical equations. The major reason of the difference occurrence is due to the use of the imprecise values of the model parameters, but the parameter values are currently determined by the try and error method directly performed by humans. However, the use of this method requires many time and endeavor of humans, and generally does not obtain the most suitable parameter values. A method for deciding model parameter values is, therefore, developed in this study. The method minimizes the difference between the measured and estimated values and also distributes uniformly the measured values on the upper and lower sides of the line representing the estimated values. A user interface based on this method is also developed by using the Visual Basic 6.0 of Microsoft, and it can be operated in the environment of Windows 98/2000. In this study, the method for deciding model parameter values is applied for estimating the water quality of the stream Ko-heung. The results of the application show that the method, including its computer program, can effectively obtain the most suitable parameter values and also save many working time in comparison with the existing method directly performed by humans.

  • This paper describes comparative analysis results about the dynamic interaction of interconnected wind power system using the actual-size hardware simulator and the simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The hardware simulator, which is composed of 2.0MVA induction motor with drive system and 1.5MW doubly-fed induction generator, was built and tested in Go-Chang Test Site of KEPCO for analyzing the dynamic interaction with the interconnected distribution system. The operation of hardware simulator was verified through comparative analysis between experimental results and simulation results obtained by simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The developed hardware simulator and simulation model could be effectively used for analyzing the dynamic interaction, which has various phenomena depending on the wind variation and the network state of interconnected power system.

  • With the increasing number of vehicles in use in our daily life and the rise of traffic congestion problems, many methods and models have been developed for real time optimisation of traffic lights. Nevertheless, most methods which consider real time physical queue sizes of vehicles waiting for green lights overestimate the optimal cycle length for such real traffic control. This paper deals with the development of a generic hybrid model describing both physical traffic flows and control of signalised intersections. The firing times assigned to the transitions of the control part are considered dynamic and are calculated by a simplified optimisation method. This method is based on splitting green times proportionally to the predicted queue sizes through input links for each new cycle time. The proposed model can be easily translated into a control code for implementation in a real time control system.

  • This paper establishes a coding method system including the liberation and size distribution of recycling materials in the shredder operation. Every particle in the shredded product becomes a code number using the liberation model and size distribution equation transforming of weight percentage into particles number percentage. One set of database can be obtained after all particles have been coded. This database is suitable for the size reduction operation in the process simulation of waste recycling. Coupling with the developed air classification, sizing and separating operations, the whole process simulation will be completely established for diversified application. A typical simulation for the rolling cutting shredder product of waste TV had been demonstrated under this coding system. The breakage size distribution of Gaudin and Schumann equation were selected for the shredding operation simulation. The Gaudin's liberation model was suitable fur the liberation simulation. Both of these equations were transformed weight percentage into particles distribution for the necessary of particle coding method. A better recycling operation for this shredded solid waste can be concluded from the comparison of simulation results with their sorted grade, recovery or economic of materials in different processes.

  • To optimize the cold start process of a 4-stroke, 8 cylinder Diesel engine, a dynamic simulation model from cranking to idle speed is developed. Physically-based first order starter motor dynamics are used to model the performance of starting process which is very complex. These equations are solved using numerical schemes(Petzold-Gear BDF method) to describe the starting process of diesel engine and to study the effects of starting parameters. The validity of this model is examined by start test. This model can be served as a tool for computer aided control systems design to improve cold improve cold start performance.
