  • In order to predict the effect of power amplifier non-linearity for digital modulated signal, this paper analyses the adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) with the various AM-to-PM distortion levels. As the phase distortion increases from 0$^{\circ}$ to 12$^{\circ}$ at 1㏈compression point by 2.4$^{\circ}$ step, the input power level which satisfies the required ACPR decreases from 3.5㏈ to 6.5㏈ less than the 1㏈ compression input power.

  • This paper presents a novel optimization method for the air- and gas-supplying network comprised of several air compression systems and air and gas streams in an industrial chemical plant. The optimization is based on the hybrid model developed by Han and $Han^1$ for predicting the power consumption of a compression system. A constrained optimization problem was formulated to minimize the total electric power consumption of all the compression systems in the air- and gas-supplying network under various operating constraints and was solved using a successive quadratic optimization algorithm. The optimization approach was applied to an industrial terephthalic acid manufacturing plant to achieve about 10% reduction in the total electric power consumption under varying ambient conditions.

  • Data storage and data communication currently pose a major problems for all parties involved with power quality and power system monitoring. The Problem aries from the tremendous amount of data involved. There is a common desire in the power industry to find new techniques for high-accuracy data compression and data storage. This paper introduces a data compression technique that is very suitable for application to power quality waveforms. The proposed technique is applied in splitting the monitored signal into two components. Those are stationary and nonstationary components. Each component is compressed and encoded.

  • The huge test data volume, test time and power consumption are major problems in system-on-a-chip testing. To tackle those problems, we propose a new test data compression technique. Initially, don't-cares in a pre-computed test cube set are assigned to reduce the test power consumption, and then, the fully specified low-power test data is transformed to improve compression efficiency by neighboring bit-wise exclusive-or (NB-XOR) scheme. Finally, the transformed test set is compressed to reduce both the test equipment storage requirements and test application time.

  • In order to find out the potential of LP gas as a substitute fuel for small fm engine, experiments were carried out with a four-stroke spark-ignition engine which was modified from a kerosene engine mounted on the power tiller. Performance characteristics of kerosene and LP gas engine such as torque, volumetric efficiency fuel consumption rate, brake thermal efficiency, exhaust temperature, and carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions were measured and analyzed under various levels of engine speed and compression ratio. The results were summarized as follows. 1. It showed that forque of LPG engine was 41% lower than that of kerosene engine with the same compression ratio, but LPG engine with compression ratio of 8.5 it was showed similar torque level to kerosene engine with compression ratio of 4.5. 2. Fuel consumption of LPG engine was reduced by about 5.1% and thermal efficiency was improved by about 2% compared with kerosene engine with the same compression ratio. With the incrasing of compression ratio in LPG engine fuel consumption rate decreased and thermal efficiency increased. 3. Exhaust temperature of LPG engine was about 15% lower than that of kerosene engine. Concenrations of emissions from LPG engine was affected insignificantly by compression ratios, and carbon monoxide emissions from the LPG engine was not affected by engine speed so much. The carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions from LPG engine were about 94% and 66% lower than those of kerosene engine, respectively.

  • This paper introduces a compression algorithm for power quality disturbance signal via the discrete wavelet transform, DWT. Fundamental signal or stationary signal is estimated and then subtracted from a given signal to obtain a difference signal or nonstationary signal. DWT is applied to a difference signal to get coefficients that are thresholded to reduce a number of coefficients. Simulation results show the resonable compression ratio while keep low signal distortion.

  • A low temperature difference model Stirling engine is a small Stirling engine running with several degree of temperature difference without power output. In this study, the design parameters to give maximum power are discussed. As results, the phase angle is about 100 degree, and compression ratio is 1.5% of the ratio of heat source temperatures at maximum power condition.

  • Recently, high-developed domestic industry and environmental issues demand high-voltage short-pulse power supply(power, voltage, pulse width and repetition rate of 100KW, 150KV, 500ns and 500Hz, respectively) for electron beam process and puolse corona process. In such power supplies magnetic compression circuit can be one of the effectives solutions. In ths study design and operation principle of a pulse-power supply with a three-stage magnetic-compression circuit are described. A good agreement between simulation and experimental results verifies the validity of thescheme. The system delivers energy of 10[J/pulse] at the efficiency of 82%[%].
