  • Conductivities of polycrystalline ceria doped with several rare earth oxides were measured by AC admittance and DC four probe method. The conductions were separated into grain and grain boundary contributions using the complex admittance technique as well as grain size dependence of conductivity. The grain size dependence of polycrystalline conductivity, which can be adequately described by the so-called brick layer model, appears to give a more reliable measure of the grain conductivity compared to the complex admittance method. Polycrystalline resistivity(1/conductivity) increases linearly with the reciprocal of grain size. The intercept of resistivity vs. inverse grain size plot gives a measure of the grain resistivity and the slope gives a measure of the grain boundary resistivity. It was also noted that errors involved in the analysis of experimental data may be different between the complex admittance method and the impedance method. A greater resolution of the spectra was found in the complex admittance method, insofar as the present work is concerned, suggesting that the commonly used equivalent circuit may require re-evaluation.

  • The apparent soil resistivity is used for estimating multilayer soil parameters, such as, layer's depth and soil resistivity. The apparent soil resistivity can be measured, and also can be calculated if soil parameters are given, becacuse the apparent soil resistivity is a function of these parameters. Therefore, any optimization algorithms can be used to find these parameters which make the calculated apparent soil resistivity close to the measured one. The equation for calculating the apparent soil resistivity is complicated and time consumed, because it is composed of an infinite integral which includes a zero order Bessel's function of the first kind. In this paper, a fast algorithm for calculating the apparent soil resistivity of horizontal multilayer earth structure has been presented using complex image method.

  • Currently, geophysical method is applied for understanding the subsurface geologic structure economically and systematically, but there exists some limitations on recognizing complex subsurface structures precisely by a single geophysical method. In order to understand the complex subsurface structures, we applied various geophysical methods including seismic refraction survey, two-dimensional resistivity survey, seismic tomography survey, suspension-ps log, and understood distribution of low velocity, low resistivity range of resistivity survey and correlation of an intersecting point, velocity distribution of seismic tomography survey.

  • Dissolution and precipitation behaviors of complex carbonitrides in austenite of a V-Nb microalloyed steel were quantitatively examined through electrical resistivity measurement and transmission electron microscopy. The electrical resistivity increased with solution treatment temperature up to $1240^{\circ}C$ and then was saturated at $225n{\Omega}m$ for a holding time of 10 min. The electrical resistivity method was also used to quantitatively measure the isothermal precipitation kinetics of the complex carbonitrides in austenite. Nb-rich precipitates were observed in austenite at the early stages of precipitation, but Nb was replaced by V up to the equilibrium amount within the precipitates with further holding time. The time-temperature-precipitation diagram showed a C-type curve; nose temperature and its incubation time were $900^{\circ}C$ and 100 s, respectively.

  • In this paper reconstructing the internal resistivity and relative permittivity distribution is discussed. The iterative reconstruction method based on Finite Element method and Newton method were used to reconstruct both of resistivity ind permittivity distribution. The Finite Element model of impedance distribution is built in complex field of resistivity and capacitive medium. The reconstruction results based on computer simulated data and experimental data are presented.

  • A.C. impedance properties of $RuO_2$ based thick film resistors which having different resistivity value (DuPont 1721 : $100{\Omega}$/ sq., 1741 : $10K{\Omega}$/sq.) were investigated using by impedance analyzer. In case of lower resistivity 1721 system, the complex impedance was composed nearly R component for all speciman sintered at above $600^{\circ}C$, and the frequency dependancy on impedance was not affected very much up to 5MHz and again gradually increase with increasing the frequency. In case of higher resistivity 1741 resistor system, impedance properties were very depandant on sintering temperature. When sintering temperature was $600^{\circ}C$, the complex impedance plot shows a vertical line, which correspond to lone capacitance equivalant circuit, and the impedance linearly decreased with increasing frequency. In case of speciman sintered at $700-900^{\circ}C$, the complex impedance plot shows semi-circular are correspond to a lumped RC combination, and the impedance shows constant value to 5MHz, again decreased with increasing frequency. But the complex impedance behavior of speciman sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ was shows the equivalent circuit correspont to parallel combined LCR component, and the impedance was not varied with frequency.

  • A laboratory experiment was performed to examine the relationship between resistivity and ionic components in the pore water of a sand by using soil resistivity test box and STING-Rl. The resistivity measurement was performed with the concentration changes of ionic components. Also, the resistivity change was evaluated for multiple components. The results showed that the resistivity of Arsenic was less than other heavy metals. In the case of complex components, resistivity ranges depended on the resistivity of components existed in the pore water.

  • Due to the recent development of instruments which enabled the measurements of subtle IP effect in the ground and analysis algorithms, complex resistivity (CR) method was expanding its application to various field. In this study, we applied the CR method to the test site where the ground reinforcement had been done by injecting the cement mortar for investigating the effect of ground reinforcement. For this site, resistivity monitoring and tomography survey was carried out while the ground reinforcement had been made by the grouting. From the result, the anomalous region that was shown on the result of resistivity 4D monitoring was coincident with those of phase section in the CR method, because the cement grouting material had the strong IP effects. It might be expected that the CR method should be very powerful surveying tool for the similar purpose.

  • This paper presents the method of sail-resistivity estimation using the backpropagation(BP) neural network. Existing estimation programs are expensive, and their estimation methods need complex techniques and take much time. Also, those programs have not become well spreaded in Korea yet. Soil resistivity estimation method using BP algorithm has studied for the reason mentioned above. This paper suggests the method which differs from expensive program or graphic technology requiring many input stages, complicated calculation and professional knowledge. The equivalent earth resistivity can be presented immediately after inputting apparent resistivity through the personal computer with a simplified Program without many Processing stages. This program has the advantages of reasonable accuracy, rapid processing time and confident of anti users.

  • Dissolution behavior of complex carbonitrides in a Nb-Ti-V microalloyed steel was quantitatively examined by electrical resistivity, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and optical microscopy. The electrical resistivity increased with solution treatment temperature up to $1250^{\circ}C$ for a holding time of 15 min. But, an increasing rate of electrical resistivity with temperature was obviously decreased above $1150^{\circ}C$. As the solution treatment temperature increases, irregular shaped Nb-rich carbonitrides disappear and cuboidal Ti-rich carbonitrides are observed. Abnormal grain growth occurs above $1250^{\circ}C$ for a holding time of 15 min. The optimal solution treatment temperature of a Nb-Ti-V microalloyed steel was determined as $1200^{\circ}C$ for a holding time of 15 min.
