  • The physics-based compact gate leakage current noise models in nanoscale MOSFETs are developed in such a way that the models incorporate important physical effects and are suitable for circuit simulators, including QM (quantum-mechanical) effects. An emphasis on the trap-related parameters of noise models is laid to make the models adaptable to the variations in different process technologies and to make its parameters easily extractable from measured data. With the help of an accurate and generally applicable compact noise models, the compact noise models are successfully implemented into BSIM (Berkeley Short-channel IGFET Model) format. It is shown that the noise models have good agreement with measurements over the frequency, gate-source and drain-source bias ranges.

  • In this paper, computational aeroacoustics (CAA) method is used for flow-noise analysis and flow-noise visualization. High order high resolution scheme of optimized high order compact is used to resolve the small acoustic quantities and large flow quantities at the same time. An adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model and generalized characteristic boundary condition are also used. Aeolion tone noise, cavity noise, and jet noise are investigated. The visualizations of flow-noise are successful and characteristics of noise are studied. It is observed that the propagation directivity of noise is different with that of flow. With the help of CAA method, the visualization of noise is possible.

  • In this paper, we designed low phase noise frequency synthesizer with compact size for High frequency band (Ku-band). The paper addresses merits and demerits of single loop and dual loop frequency synthesizer. The phase noise characteristics of the phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer were predicted based on the analysis for phase noise contribution of noise sources. The proposed model in this paper more accurately predicts the low phase noise frequency synthesizer with compact size for high frequency band.

  • The comprehensive and physics-based compact noise models for advanced CMOS devices were presented. The models incorporate important physical effects in nanoscale MOSFETs, such as the low frequency correlation effect between the drain and the gate, the trap-related phenomena, and QM (quantum mechanical) effects in the inversion layer. The drain current noise model was improved by including the tunneling assisted-thermally activated process, the realistic trap distribution, the parasitic resistance, and mobility degradation. The expression of correlation coefficient was analytically described, enabling the overall noise performance to be evaluated. With the consideration of QM effects, the comprehensive low frequency noise performance was simulated over the entire bias range.

  • Recent numerical simulation has a tendency to require the higher-order accuracy in time, as well as in space. This tendency is more true in LES and acoustic noise simulation. In the present work, the accuracy of a Fractional step method, which is widely used in LES simulation, has been increased to the fourth-order accurate compact Pade discretization. To validate the present code, the flow-field past a cylinder was simulated and compared with experiment. A good agreement with experiment was achieved.

  • Prediction methods for cavitation noise are presented. At first, direct numerical simulation of cavitating flow noise has been performed, and acoustic analogy equation based on the cavitation noise modeling is derived. For the direct numerical simulation, a density based homogenous equilibrium model is employed to simulate cavitating two-phase flow and the governing equations are solved with high-order numerical schemes to resolve cavitation noise. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations for mixture fluids are discretized with a sixth-order central compact scheme, and the steep gradient of flow variables and supersonic regions are treated with the selective spatial filtering technique. The direct simulation of cavitating flow noise is performed for a 2D circular cylinder at cavitation number 0.7 and 1. The far-field noise is also predicted with the derived analogy equation. Noise spectrum predicted with the equation is well compared with the result of direct numerical simulation and also agree well with the theory.

  • The screech tone of underexpanded jet is numerically calculated without any specific modeling for the screech tone itself. Fourth-order optimized compact scheme and fourth-order Runge-Kutta method are used to solve the 2D axisymmetric Euler equation. Adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model and generalized characteristic boundary condition are also used. The screech tone, generated by a closed loop between instability waves and quasi-periodic shock cells at the near field, is reasonably analyzed with present numerical methods for the underexpanded jet having Mach number 1.13. First of all, the centerline mean pressure distribution is calculated and compared with experimental and other numerical results. The instantaneous density contour plot shows Mach waves due to mixing layer convecting supersonically, which propagate downstream. The pressure signal and its Fourier transform at upstream and downstream shows the directivity pattern of screech tone very clearly. Most of all, we can simulate the axisymmetric mode change of screech tone very precisely with present method. It can be concluded that the basic phenomenon of screech tone including the frequency can be calculated by using high-order and high-resolution schemes without any specific numerical modeling for screech tone feedback loop.

  • It is becoming more significant to develop a rotary VCM type actuator for small form factor ODD, as portables are getting more and more popularized nowadays. In this paper, the procedure of development of the actuator which is applicable to compact flash II card and is fit in the specification of BD 1X is explained. This is based on the rotary VCM type actuator, which is good for reducing thickness. Air core solenoid coil is used in order to do focusing mechanism. And the total weight is reduced by using the structure of steel-aluminium-steel triple layer, so, the stiffness is still adequate. Additionally, the tracking coil is moved next to the actuator, so the total length was reduced, then the actuator become applicable to compact flash II card. The force of Magnetic Circuit is improved by using Magnetic Circuit DOE. And flexible mode frequency improved through the DOE of structure part. Modeling was exactly done in consideration of air core solenoid coil and pivot bearing. It is confirmed that the designed model is satisfied with the specification of BD 1X and is applicable to Compact Flash II card.

Damping loss factor and coupling loss factor have been derived from the response(SPL) of sub systems when the power is applied. The airborne SEA model of vehicle is modeled through AutoSea2. Insulation material's absorption coefficient and transmission loss are acquired from closed form solution and experiment.

  • This study presents a model to minimize vibration and noise of powertrain mount on a compact car which has the application of Stop & Go performance, in order to reduce CO2 and achieve better fuel-efficiency in accordance with the environmental regulations in automotive industries. In the first step, we analyze the powertrain mount system of the automobile "A" and present variables about rubber stiffness applied on powertrain mount using the Taguchi method. In the next step, we verify the optimization of vibration and noise which meet Stop & Go performance using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method on the proto products for each variable. Using this validation system on the initial stage of the powertrain mount design, it is expected that we can grasp vibration and noise problems caused by engine movements and control them effectively without engineering know-how about powertrain mount rubber stiffness.
