  • New modular factory-built methodologies implemented in the construction and industrial plant industries may bring down costs for modular reactors. A factory-built environment brings about benefits such as; improved equipment, tools, quality, shift patterns, training, continuous improvement learning, environmental control, standardisation, parallel working, the use of commercial off shelf equipment and much of the commissioning can be completed before leaving the factory. All these benefits combine to reduce build schedules, increase certainty, reduce risk and make financing easier and cheaper.Currently, the construction and industrial chemical plant industries have implemented successful modular design and construction techniques. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to understand and analyse the state of the art research in these industries through a systematic literature review. The research can then be assessed and applied to modular reactors. The literature review highlighted analysis methods that may prove to be useful. These include; modularisation decision tools, stakeholder analysis, schedule, supply chain, logistics, module design tools and construction site planning. Applicable research was highlighted for further work exploration for designers to assess, develop and efficiently design their modular reactors.

  • Purpose : To setup procedures of quality assurance (OA) for implementing intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) clinically, report OA procedures peformed for one patient with prostate cancer. Materials and methods : $P^3IMRT$ (ADAC) and linear accelerator (Siemens) with multileaf collimator are used to implement IMRT. At first, the positional accuracy, reproducibility of MLC, and leaf transmission factor were evaluated. RTP commissioning was peformed again to consider small field effect. After RTP recommissioning, a test plan of a C-shaped PTV was made using 9 intensity modulated beams, and the calculated isocenter dose was compared with the measured one in solid water phantom. As a patient-specific IMRT QA, one patient with prostate cancer was planned using 6 beams of total 74 segmented fields. The same beams were used to recalculate dose in a solid water phantom. Dose of these beams were measured with a 0.015 cc micro-ionization chamber, a diode detector, films, and an array detector and compared with calculated one. Results : The positioning accuracy of MLC was about 1 mm, and the reproducibility was around 0.5 mm. For leaf transmission factor for 10 MV photon beams, interleaf leakage was measured $1.9\%$ and midleaf leakage $0.9\%$ relative to $10\times\;cm^2$ open filed. Penumbra measured with film, diode detector, microionization chamber, and conventional 0.125 cc chamber showed that $80\~20\%$ penumbra width measured with a 0.125 cc chamber was 2 mm larger than that of film, which means a 0.125 cc ionization chamber was unacceptable for measuring small field such like 0.5 cm beamlet. After RTP recommissioning, the discrepancy between the measured and calculated dose profile for a small field of $1\times1\;cm^2$ size was less than $2\%$. The isocenter dose of the test plan of C-shaped PTV was measured two times with micro-ionization chamber in solid phantom showed that the errors upto $12\%$ for individual beam, but total dose delivered were agreed with the calculated within $2\%$. The transverse dose distribution measured with EC-L film was agreed with the calculated one in general. The isocenter dose for the patient measured in solid phantom was agreed within $1.5\%$. On-axis dose profiles of each individual beam at the position of the central leaf measured with film and array detector were found that at out-of-the-field region, the calculated dose underestimates about $2\%$, at inside-the-field the measured one was agreed within $3\%$, except some position. Conclusion : It is necessary more tight quality control of MLC for IMRT relative to conventional large field treatment and to develop QA procedures to check intensity pattern more efficiently. At the conclusion, we did setup an appropriate QA procedures for IMRT by a series of verifications including the measurement of absolute dose at the isocenter with a micro-ionization chamber, film dosimetry for verifying intensity pattern, and another measurement with an array detector for comparing off-axis dose profile.

  • A document control system (DCS), ANSIM (KAERI Advanced Nuclear Safety Information Management) was designed for the purpose of documents preparation, review, and approvement for JRTR (Jordan Research and Training Reactor) project. The ANSIM system consists of a document management, document container, project management, organization management, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) document folder. The document container folder run after specific contents, a revision history of the design documents and drawings are issued in KAERI. The EPC document work-scope is a registry for incoming documents in ANSIM, the assignment of a manager or charger, document review, preparing and outgoing PM memorandum as attached the reviewed paper. On the other hand, KAERI is aiming another extra network server for the NRR (New Research Reactor) by the end of this year. In conclusion, it is the first, computation system of DCS that provides document form, document number, and approval line. Second, ANSIM increases the productivity of performance that can be recognized the document work-flow of oneself and all participants. Finally, a plenty of experience and knowledge of nuclear technology can be transmitted to next generation for the design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning. Though this, ANSIM is expected to allow the export of a knowledge and information system as well as a research reactor.

  • External corrosion control of buried pipe can be achieved by the combination of barrier coating and cathodic protection. Coating damage and deterioration can be induced by many reasons; damage during handling and laying, enhanced failure at low temperatures, failure during commissioning and operation, disbanding due to inadequate surface cleaning, rock penetration during installation and service etc. This work focused on the effect of survey conditions on the reliability of coating flaw detection of buried pipes. The effects of applied voltage and anode location on the detection reliability of coating flaw of buried pipe in soil with the resistivity of ca. 25.8 kΩ·cm were discussed. Higher applied voltage increased the detection reliability, regardless of buried depth, but deeper burial depth reduced the reliability. The location of the anode has influenced on the detection reliability. This behaviour may be induced by the variation of current distribution by the applied voltage and buried depth. From the relationship between the applied voltage and reliability, the needed detection potential to get a desire detection reliability can be calculated to get 100% detection reliability using the derived equation.

  • With the increasing risk in building liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC), pre-simulation of various scenarios is required for system integration and safe operation. In particular, the power management system (PMS) is an important part of the LNGC; it works in tight integration with the power control systems to achieve the desired performance and safety. To verify and improve unpredicted errors, we implemented a simulation model of power generation and consumption for testing PMS based on software-in-the-loop (SIL) method. To control and verify the PMS, numeric and physical simulation modeling was undertaken utilizing MATLAB/Simulink. In addition, the simulation model was verified with a load sharing test scenario for a sea trial. This simulation allows shipbuilders to participate in new value-added markets such as commissioning, installation, operation, and maintenance.

  • We present a python-based data reduction pipeline for the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS). IGRINS covers the complete H- and K-bands in a single exposure with a spectral resolving power of greater than 40,000. IGRINS is designed to be compatible with telescopes of diameters ranging from 2.7-m (the Harlan J. Smith telescope at McDonald Observatory) to 8-10m. Commissioning and initial operation will be on the 2.7-m telescope from late 2013. The pipeline package is a part of the IGRINS software and designed to be compatible with other package that maneuvers the spectrograph during the observation. This package provides high-quality spectra with minimal human intervention and the processes of order extraction, distortion correction, and wavelength calibration can be automatically carried out using the predefined functions (e.g. echellogram mapping and 2D transform). Since the IGRINS is a prototype of the Giant Magellan Telescope Near-Infrared Spectrometer (GMTNIRS), this pipeline will be extended to the GMTNIRS software.

  • ROTC is the system that selects the best students in university and implements the military training of two years and uses them as beginning commander of the army by commissioning as officers. ROTC makes up a very large portion of the army and society in Korea in terms of the size and role. Therefore, it is very important to enhance intangible combat power of the Korean army by improving leadership of primary grade officer from ROTC. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether or not ROTC candidate training program is providing the right training, so as to improve ROTC's leadership and present improvement plan. First, we divide ROTC candidate training program into three areas and take the 1st and 2nd survey. Then we compare and analyze the actual condition and recognition of investigation using statistical analysis methods such as chi-square test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Also, we analyze the element affecting the army leader's three qualities formation which are basic elements of ROTC cadet's leadership using multiple regression analysis.

  • Management performance of a construction company can be the sum of management performance of each different project. Therefore, the measurement of management performance following construction projects is essential for securing the competitiveness of a company. However, most research has been related to the performance measurement of the construction industry and companies and little has been conducted on individual project's performance. In particular, building projects have various characteristics depending on construction orderer, type and commissioning entity but no performance indicators have been selected based on this classification. This study aims to select performance indicators for subdivided areas based on project characteristics as well as those which can be commonly used to measure management performance at construction and trial run stages of building projects. In the future, those indicators proposed in this study can be used for developing methodology to evaluate them and later applied to actual building projects to generate quantitative data. In addition, they are expected to be used as reference for selecting indicators to measure management performance of plant and civil engineering projects.

  • With the introduction of COBie (Construction Operation Building Exchange) in BIM technology enabling an automatic transfer of design and construction information to operation and management (O&M) phase, the BIM centric O&M management system development process has been tested on the subject of architectural types of building. However, for now, there is a need to investigate the technical feasibility of COBie application to civil structures including industrial facilities. This study takes both "O&M Guideline for Public Wastewater Treatment Plant" and a real wastewater treatment plant into account for the purpose, in which the latter is intended to supplement the result of the first. The findings are three-folds: (1) COBie, as an asset modeling, is not sufficient enough to encompass commissioning data, (2) more relevant IFC development and family library build-up useful to modeling wastewater treatment plant is imperative, and (3) well-planned coordination and organization of COBie data-set in line with O&M practice will enhance the feasibility of the COBie in industrial facilities. The result could be used for a basis study for COBie application, particularly in industrial facilities.
