Effect of 12-week Exercise Programs for Posture Correction on Standing Postural Alignment in Elderly Women

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of different 12-week exercise programs for posture correction on postural alignment in elderly women. Method: The study included 36 elderly women who were randomly divided into 3 groups: Group A (core exercise, n=12), Group B (combined exercise, n=12), and Group C (Pilates exercise, n=12). Postural alignment was measured using 6 variables in frontal and sagittal planes. Two-way mixed analysis of variance was used to compare the effect of exercise program types on postural alignment and a paired t-test was used to compare differences in postural alignment after exercise. Results: The core exercise group showed statistically significant improvement (p<.05) in multiple upper and lower body postural alignment measurements. The combined exercise and Pilates exercise groups showed statistically significant improvement (p<.05) in upper body measurements alone. Conclusion: Core exercise, combined exercise, and Pilates exercise improved postural alignment in elderly woman through improvement in muscle strength and ligament flexibility around the spine and pelvis.

Morphological Changes in Quadriceps Muscles through 3-Week Combined Exercise using a Wearable Robot (EX1) in Young Adult

  • Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of regular exercise through the combined walking-oriented aerobic and resistance exercises using EX1 in young adults. Design: Experimental one group pre and post test Methods: Participants comprised17 healthy young adults. All subjects performed a combined exercise program for 10 times using EX1. We measured quadriceps muscle thickness using ultrasound. Additionally, the hand grip strength test, and sit and reach test were performed before and after the exercise. Through paired t-test, we investigated whether there was a statistically significant difference in the measurement results after exercise program. Results: The rectus femoris muscle contraction ratio showed significant difference after exercise(P< 0.01). In the sit and reach test, flexibility showed significant difference after exercise(P < 0.01). The hand grip strength test also showed significant difference after exercise(P < 0.05). Conclusions: Healthy young adults can effectively perform various exercises commonly performed in daily life using EX1.

유방암 생존자의 장기간 복합 운동중재에 따른 기능적 체력과 골밀도의 변화 (The Change of Functional Fitness and Bone Mineral Density on a Long-Term Combined Exercise Intervention in Breast Cancer Survivors.)

  • 본 연구는 유방암 절제술을 받은 40-60대의 기혼 중년을 대상으로 복합운동을 1년간 실시하여 골다공증약과 운동을 병행한 군과 운동군으로 나누어 기능적 체력과 골밀도에 미치는 효과를 분석하고 이에 따른 효과적인 운동프로그램의 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 대상자총 24명을 두군으로 나누어, 이중 18명은 골다공증 범위(T-score=$-2.2{\pm}0.8$)에 있으며 복합운동만을 실시하였다. 나머지 6명은 골다공증진단(T-score=$-4.6{\pm}0.9$)을 받고 골다공증약(Alendronate 70 mg/주 당)을 처방 받아 복용하면서 복합운동을 병행하여 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 기능적 체력 요소 중 좌전굴, 악력, 윗몸일으키기에서는 시기간에 유의한 향상을 보였다. 12개월 후, 골 밀도의 변화는 복합운동군(N=18)에서는 변화가 없었으며, 복합운동과 골다공증약 복용(N=6)을 병행하고 있는 그룹은 유의한 개선을 나타냈다. 따라서 하타요가, 탄성밴드 및 볼 운동이 포함된 장기간 점진적 강도의 복합운동프로그램이 유방암절제술 여성의 기능적 체력의 개선 및 골밀도 지연에 효과가 있었고, 특히 운동과 골다공증약을 병행한 그룹에서 골다공증개선에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으므로, 유방암 수술 후 회복기 운동프로그램으로 적극 활용할 수 있도록 제안한다. 앞으로 대상자 수를 늘려 골다공증약과 운동과의 병행관계를 심층적으로 연구하고, 유방암 수술 후 운동중재프로그램의 유형 및 강도를 달리하여 유방암과 골밀도 및 운동과의 관련성을 연구 해 볼 필요가 있겠다.

16주 복합운동프로그램을 통한 저체력군 고등학생의 대사증후군 지표와 자율신경계의 변화 (The effects of the 16-weeks' combined exercise program on metabolic syndrome and autonomic nerve system of low-level physical strength group)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 PAPS를 실시하여 4, 5급에 해당하는 저체력군 학생을 대상으로 16주 복합운동프로그램을 통해 대사증후군과 자율신경계에 어떠한 변화가 나타나는가를 규명하는 것이다. 16주 복합운동프로그램은 주 5회에 걸쳐 준비운동, 본운동, 정리운동으로 구성하고 1회 50분씩 실시하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS 19.0 통계프로그램을 이용하여 모든 종속변인들의 평균과 표준편차를 산출하였다. 샤피로-윌크 검정값을 이용하여 정규성 검정을 실시하였고, 복합운동집단과 통제집단의 모평균 차이를 위하여 독립표본 t-검정을 실시하였으며, 16주 복합운동프로그램 전 후 각 집단 내변인들의 변화를 알아보기 위해 대응표본 t-검정을 실시하였다. 모든 통계치의 유의수준은 ${\alpha}$=.05로 처리하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 본 연구 결과 대사증후군 지표에서는 허리둘레, 중성지방, 공복혈당, HDL-C에서 유의한 차이를 나타냈고, 자율신경계 요인에서는 통계적으로 모두 유의한 차이가 나타나 저체력군 고등학생에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 사료되어 진다.

협응이동훈련과 슬링운동 결합 프로그램이 무릎넙다리통증 환자의 무릎통증 및 기능적 움직임에 미치는 영향: 단일사례 연구 (Effect of CLT and Sling Exercise Combined Program on Knee Pain in Patellofemoral Pain Patient: A Single-Subject Study)

  • Background: Patellofemoral pain is one of the common diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Many previous studies have recommended the application of exercise therapy to patellofemoral pain patients for treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of coordinative locomotor training (CLT) and sling exercise combined program on knee pain and functional movement in patellofemoral pain patient. Methods: In this study, single-subject design (A-B-A') was conducted for 6 weeks. A repeted-measure analysis was conducted to assess results of the anterior knee pain scale (AKPS), Clarke's test (CT), eccentric step down test (ESDT). During the intervention (B), the CLT and sling exercise combined program was conducted three times a week for 4 weeks. Results: From baseline period A to intervention period B, the AKPS, CT, ESDT were improved from 61 to 48 (27%), from 8.33 to 3 (64%), from 7.67 to 3,58 (53%). From baseline period A to baseline period A', the AKPS, CT, ESDT were improved from 70.67 to 48 (47%), from 0.67 to 3 (92%), from 1.33 to 3,58 (83%). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we recommend the application of CLT and sling exercise combined program to improve the pain and functional movement in patellofemoral pain patients.

레크리에이션 복합운동이 노인의 신체조성, 체력 및 우울에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Recreation Combined Exercise Program in Body Composition, Physical Fitness and Depression in Elderly)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of recreation combined exercise program on body composition, physical fitness and depression in elderly women in rural district over a three-month follow-up period. Methods: Recreation combined exercise program (RCEP) was composed of resistance exercise, walking and recreation activity twice a week. The subjects were 52 divided in to experimental group (n=28) and control group (n=24). Arm curl, chair stand, 2 min step test, back scratch, chair sit and reach were measured as pre- or post-test data. Also, Depression was expressed using geriatric depression scale as pre- or post-test data. $X^2$ test, paired t-test and t-test were performed using SAS program. Results: Arm curl (p=.023), 2 minute step test (p<.001), back scratch (p=.004) and chair sit and reach (p=.024) showed the significant difference in the comparison between groups. Depression showed the significant difference in the comparison between groups (p=.008). Conclusion: These findings indicated the RCEP has positive influence upon increasing the physical fitness and improving the depression level. In conclusion, the regular RCEP will contribute to the improving physical and psychologic aspect in elderly women over the long period.

Effects of 8 weeks of combined forest exercise on quality of life and physical self-concept of breast cancer survivors

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of forestry exercise on the quality of life and physical self-concept of breast cancer survivors. The subjects of this study were eight breast cancer survivors 6 months after mastectomy. The forest combined exercise program consisted of aerobic exercise through forest walking and resistance exercise using elastic bands. The forest combined exercise was conducted twice for 8 weeks. Forest trekking consisted of a 2km walking speed and resistance exercise consisted of three levels of sets and intensity. The format was divided into gradual increases. The exercise time was 40 to 60 minutes for forest trekking, 20 to 30 minutes for descent, and 40 to 60 minutes for resistance exercise, for a total of 120 to 130 minutes per day. Breast cancer survivors' quality of life was measured using a questionnaire, and changes in quality of life were measured using a t-test (α=.05). Physical self-concept was assessed through in-depth interviews. There was no statistically significant difference in quality of life before and after 8 weeks of combined forestry exercise, but there was a slight tendency to increase in the area of physical well-being. Physical self-concept showed positive changes in motivation, physical strength improvement, health promotion, physical competence, and self-confidence through the forest composite exercise. Therefore, the forest composite exercise is believed to have a positive effect on the physical self-concept of breast cancer survivors.

12주간 복합운동과 영양교육이 비만중년여성의 신체조성, 간기능, 혈중지질 및 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of 12 Weeks Combined Exercise and Nutrition Education on Body Composition, Liver Function, Serum Lipids and Insulin Resistance in Obese Middle-aged Woman)

  • 본 연구는 체지방률 30% 이상인 비만 중년여성을 대상으로 복합운동 영양교육군(n=7), 복합운동군(n=7), 대조군(n=7) 총21명을 대상으로 연구한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 12주간 복합운동과 영양교육의 실시는 비만 중년 여성의 체지방률, 제지방량, GOT, TC, TG, HDL-C, 인슐린 저항성을 개선시키는 효과를 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 복합운동과 영양교육이 비만중년여성의 신체조성, 간기능, 혈중지질, 및 인슐린 저항성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐 중년여성의 비만을 개선하는데 효과적인 프로그램 사료되며, 추후에도 비만중년여성의 운동방법, 운동빈도, 식이방법 등을 고려한 다양한 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

8주간의 복합운동프로그램이 근골격계 요통환자의 생체역학적 기능회복에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of 8 Week Combined Exercise Program on the Biomechanical Function Recovery of Patients Suffering from Work-Related Back Problems)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합운동프로그램이 근골격계 요통환자들의 생체역학적 기능회복에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 43명의 산업재해 요통환자들을 대상으로 프로그램 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 복합운동프로그램이 요부근력과 근지구력을 유의하게 증가시켜 요부기능회복에 긍정적으로 작용하였고, 요통으로 인해 낮아진 유연성을 증가시켜 정상인 수준으로 높일 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 복합운동 프로그램이 자세의 교정 및 척추변형 정도의 개선에 효과적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났고 들기, 사회생활, 통증지속시간, 통증발생빈도 감소에 효과적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 결국 본 연구의 결과 복합운동 프로그램이 작업관련성 요통환자들의 문제점을 개선하는데 효과적이고 적합하다는 사실을 알 수 있었다.

8주간 복싱 복합트레이닝이 남자 대학생의 심폐기능과 건강관련체력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of 8 Week Boxing Combined Training on Health Related Physical Fitness and Cardiopulmonary Function in Male College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of boxing combined training on cardiopulmonary function and health-related fitness in male college students over a period of eight weeks. Methods: Eighteen male students were randomly assigned to the following groups: boxing exercise (n=6), aerobic exercise e(n=6), and non-exercise (n=6). The exercise program was conducted for 50 minutes every three weeks, for a total of eight weeks. After eight weeks, the factors that affected the measurement variables were analyzed, and the following results were obtained. Results: Participants in the eight-week boxing exercise group and the aerobic exercise group showed significantly increased maximal oxygen, which was not observed in the control group. The body mass index decreased in the aerobic exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing exercise and control groups. Body fat (%) and abdominal fat (%) significantly decreased in all exercise groups, but significantly increased in the control group. Skeletal muscle mass increased in the boxing exercise group, but did not significantly differ between the boxing, aerobic exercise, and control groups. Muscular strength and muscular endurance increased in both exercise group, but did not change in the control group. Flexibility showed no differences between the groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, an eight-week boxing exercise program for college students showed positive effects on cardiorespiratory function and health-related fitness.
