Hybrid Genetic Algorithm Reinforced by Fuzzy Logic Controller (퍼지로직제어에 의해 강화된 혼합유전 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, we suggest a hybrid genetic algorithm reinforced by a fuzzy logic controller (flc-HGA) to overcome weaknesses of conventional genetic algorithms: the problem of parameter fine-tuning, the lack of local search ability, and the convergence speed in searching process. In the proposed flc-HGA, a fuzzy logic controller is used to adaptively regulate the fine-tuning structure of genetic algorithm (GA) parameters and a local search technique is applied to find a better solution in GA loop. In numerical examples, we apply the proposed algorithm to a simple test problem and two complex combinatorial optimization problems. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional GAs and heuristics.

  • In this research, in order to optimize the multi-objective function effectively, we suggested the optimization model to maximize the total destruction of ground targets and minimize the total damage of aircrafts and cost of air munitions by using goal programming. To satisfy the various variables and constraints of this mathematical model, the concept of air strike package is applied. As a consequence, effective attack can be possible by identifying the prior ground targets more quickly. This study can contribute to maximize the ROK air force's combat power and preservation of high value air asset in the war.

  • This paper describes a solid modeling system based on a systematic description of techniques for analyzing and understanding on engineering drawings. Main stress is placed on clarifying the difference between the drawing understanding and the drawing recognition. The former, in which we feel major interest, is intrinsically a difficult problem because it inherent contains combinatorial search to require more than polynomial time. Actually, understanding drawings is regarded as a process to recover the information lost in projection 3-D objects to 2-D drawings. But, solid modeling by automatic understanding of the given drawings is one of the promising approach, which is described precisely in the text. Reviewing the studies performed so far, we summarize the future direction of the project and inevitable open problems left.

  • The r-ary number sequences given by $$(b^{(r)}_n)_{n{\geq}0}=\Large{\frac{1}{(r-1)n+1}}(^{rn}_n)$$ are analogs of the sequence of the Catalan numbers ${\frac{1}{n+1}}(^{2n}_n)$. Their history goes back at least to Lambert [8] in 1758 and they are of considerable interest in sequential testing. Usually, the sequences are considered separately and the generalizations can go in several directions. Here we link the various r first by introducing a new combinatorial structure related to GR trees and then algebraically as well. This GR transition generalizes to give r-ary analogs of many sequences of combinatorial interest. It also lets us find infinite numbers of combinatorially defined sequences that lie between the Catalan numbers and the Ternary numbers, or more generally, between $b^{(r)}_n$ and $b^{(r+1)}_n$.

  • We have synthesized some phosphors in the system $CaO-Y_{2}O_3-Al_{2}O_{3}$ by combinatorial polymerized-complex method. Composition and synthetic temperature of phosphors in the liblary was screened from the emission intensities of individual samples under VUV excitation. In $Tb^{3+}$-activated $CaO-Y_{2}O_3-Al_{2}O_{3}$, green phosphors showing good intensity were found to be $CaYAl_{3}O_{7}$, $CaYalO_{4}$, $YAlO_{3}$, $Y_{3}Al_{5}O_{12}$, $Y_{4}Al_{2}O_{9}$, $Ca_{3}Al_{2}O6$.

  • 조합 및 고속탐색 실험 기법을 촉매 성분의 선정에 활용하였다. 소형 연료전지 작동을 위한 수소 생산에 가장 적합한 것으로 알려진 메탄을 산화 분해용 촉매의 특성을 적외선 화상 및 병렬형 반응 시스템으로 조사하였다. 반응의 모델을 먼저 제시하고 이를 근거로 Cu-Zn-Pd계 촉매를 선정하였다. 먼저 적외선 화상을 이용한 스크리닝을 위해서는 발열 효과라는 촉매 활성의 간접적인 현상을 보여줄 수 있는 적외선 민감 카메라를 이용하여 한 번에 50개의 시료 측정이 가능한 촉매 시료 배열을 설계하였다. 적외선 화상 결과로 높은 활성을 보이는 촉매 시료를 선정한 다음, 병렬형 반응 시스템과 단일 흐름 고정층 반응 시스템으로 선정된 촉매의 활성 특성을 조사 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 것과 같은 접근 방법으로 지속적으로 얻어진 결과를 반영하여 최적의 활성을 보이는 촉매 성분을 단기간에 찾아내고자 한다.

Minimum-weight design of non-linear steel frames using combinatorial optimization algorithms

  • Two combinatorial optimization algorithms, tabu search and simulated annealing, are presented for the minimum-weight design of geometrically non-linear steel plane frames. The design algorithms obtain minimum weight frames by selecting suitable sections from a standard set of steel sections such as American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) wide-flange (W) shapes. Stress constraints of AISC Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) specification, maximum and interstorey drift constraints and size constraints for columns were imposed on frames. The stress constraints of AISC Allowable Stress Design (ASD) were also mounted in the two algorithms. The comparisons between AISC-LRFD and AISC-ASD specifications were also made while tabu search and simulated annealing were used separately. The algorithms were applied to the optimum design of three frame structures. The designs obtained using tabu search were compared to those where simulated annealing was considered. The comparisons showed that the tabu search algorithm yielded better designs with AISC-LRFD code specification.

A NEW FAMILY OF FUBINI TYPE NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS ASSOCIATED WITH APOSTOL-BERNOULLI NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS

  • The purpose of this paper is to construct a new family of the special numbers which are related to the Fubini type numbers and the other well-known special numbers such as the Apostol-Bernoulli numbers, the Frobenius-Euler numbers and the Stirling numbers. We investigate some fundamental properties of these numbers and polynomials. By using generating functions and their functional equations, we derive various formulas and relations related to these numbers and polynomials. In order to compute the values of these numbers and polynomials, we give their recurrence relations. We give combinatorial sums including the Fubini type numbers and the others. Moreover, we give remarks and observation on these numbers and polynomials.

  • In this paper, we define an alternative q-analogue of the $Ruci{\acute{n}}ski$-Voigt numbers. We obtain fundamental combinatorial properties such as recurrence relations, generating functions and explicit formulas which are shown to be q-deformations of similar properties for the $Ruci{\acute{n}}ski$-Voigt numbers, and are generalizations of the results obtained by other authors. A combinatorial interpretation in the context of A-tableaux is also given where convolution-type identities are consequently obtained. Lastly, we establish the matrix decompositions of the $Ruci{\acute{n}}ski$-Voigt and the q-$Ruci{\acute{n}}ski$-Voigt numbers.

  • The purpose of this study is to design effective working systems which adapt to change in human needs by developing an method which forms into optimal groups using the measure of cohesion. Two main results can be derived from the study as follows : First, the clustering method based on the entropic measure of cohesion is predominant with respect to any other methods proposed in designing the work groups, since this clustering criterion includes symmetrical relations of total work groups and the dissimilarity as well as the similarity relations of predicate value, the clustering method based on this criterion is suitable for designing the new work structure. Second, total work group is clustered as the workers who have the equal predicate value and then clustering results are produced through the combinatorial agglomerative hierarchical clustering method. This clustering method present more economic results than the method that clustering the total work group do.
