The Effect of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and Depression on the Life Satisfaction of the Elderly Living Together during the Daytime in the Rural Areas (주간공동생활을 하는 농촌 노인의 일상생활활동 수행능력과 우울이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the life satisfaction during the communal life of the elderly in rural areas. Methods: A total of 143 subjects were selected through convenient sampling. Data were collected in self-reporting questionnaires from 1 August to 30 August 2019. The data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results: The Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) was significantly different according to age, education, and cohabitation. Depression was significantly different according to gender, age, education, and cohabitation. Life satisfaction was significantly different according to age, education, religion, and cohabitation. There was a positive correlation between Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and depression, except for life satisfaction. 41.0% of life satisfaction was explained by depression, religion, and IADL. Conclusion: The results of this study may be useful in understanding the life satisfaction level of elderly communal life and developing more specific programs for mental activity programs, and depression management strategies are required.

Effects of perceived health status, leisure satisfaction and loneliness on life satisfaction for elderly people (노인의 건강상태, 여가 만족 및 외로움이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship of perceived health status, leisure satisfaction, loneliness and life satisfaction and to identify predictors of life satisfaction for elders. Method: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sample. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 297 elders from 6 community health practitioner posts. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS Win 18.0 Program. Results: Life satisfaction had significant negative correlations with age (r=-.31, p<.001) and loneliness (r=-.73, p<.001), and positive correlations with monthly spending money (r=.44, p<.001), health status (r=.63, p<.001), and leisure satisfaction (r=.62, p<.001). The explained variance for life satisfaction was 72%. Variables of monthly spending money, health status, leisure satisfaction, and loneliness significantly predicted the degree on life satisfaction of these elders. Conclusion: Findings of this study provide a comprehensive understanding of life satisfaction and related factors for elders in Korea. However, further studies with a larger random sample and more detailed research design are necessary.

Effects of Household Type by Public Pension Income Level on Life Satisfaction (공적연금소득을 통한 가구형태가 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the life satisfaction of retirees(n=1,919) in one-person and multi-person households using the 2015 wave of the Korean Retirement and Income Study, collected by the National Pension Service. Methods: Frequency analysis and χ2-test were performed to examine the general characteristics and relation between one-person and multi-person household retirees. Logistic analysis was conducted to examine the factors affecting life satisfaction. Results: Public pension income was a statistically significant factor affecting life satisfaction, economic, health, and life in multi-person households. Conclusions: To improve life satisfaction after retirement, selective insurance benefits are needed depending on the type of household. Moreover a policy for expanding labor market participation is needed.

The Effects of Depression and Stress on College Life Adjustment of Ophthalmic Optics Students

  • This study is intended to look into the effects of depression and stress on college life adjustment of ophthalmic optics students. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to 142 male and female students majoring in ophthalmic optics at colleges in Gangwon-do. The findings are as follows: Depression had a significant effect on academic adjustment and social adjustment, but no significant effect on emotional adjustment and college satisfaction. Stress also had a significant effect on academic adjustment, but no significant effect on social adjustment, emotional adjustment and college satisfaction. The above results showed that depression and stress were major factors affecting academic and social adjustments, and academic adjustment, respectively. Which means that depression restricted the activities of academic adjustment and social adjustment, and did not have a close relationship with psychological mechanisms - emotional adjustment and college life satisfaction. Stress also had a significant effect on academic adjustment, but did not have a direct relationship with social adjustment, emotional adjustment and college satisfaction.

The Effect of Education Service Quality Related to Physical Security of Security Department Students on College Life Satisfaction and Academic Continuation Decision (경호학과 학생들의 물리보안 관련 교육서비스품질이 대학생활만족과 학업지속결정에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify how much the education service quality related to physical security of security department students affects college life satisfaction and academic continuation decision. To this end, a survey was conducted from April 10 to 28, 2023 targeting 200 university students receiving physical security education at the university. The survey contents were composed by dividing the variables into "first, educational service quality, second, college life satisfaction and third, academic continuation decision," and based on this, 3 research hypotheses were selected. We calculated regression analysis to examine the study model. Analysis result, among the 3 research hypotheses, "Educational service quality ⇨ College life satisfaction, College life satisfaction ⇨ Academic continuation decision" was significantly calculated and adopted, but "Education service quality ⇨ Academic continuation decision" was found to be insignificant and rejected. According to the results of a survey conducted among students, it seems that students will have the academic continuation decision only when they are college life satisfaction.

  • This study was identified to affection factors the life satisfaction among the college students with allergies by ecological approaches. This study was secondary analysis by using the 2015 Korean Community Health Survey (CHS) raw data, it analyzed 1,862 college students with allergies. Male students' life satisfaction were explained by 7.9% as degree of allergic diseases, frequency of breakfast, networking with friends, social activities with relatives, social activities with religion, satisfaction of natural environment and medical health service. Female students' life satisfaction were explained by 3.0% as frequency of breakfast meal, social activities with relatives and satisfaction of natural environment. We need to make the strategies and policies to improve of student's intake breakfast and make campus' green space.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the types of nursing organizational culture and its relationships with nurses' satisfaction with life, and job satisfaction. This study was eventually aimed to create healthier and more positive nursing organizational culture. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive correlational method to explore mediating effects of the types of nursing organizational culture on nurses' satisfaction with life and their job. Data were collected from a total of 1,801 nurses who have worked for more than 3 years in 35 different hospitals with more than 100 beds. Using SPSS 17.0 and Sobel Test Calculator, t-test, one way ANOVA, Duncan test, multiple regression and sobel test were used for data analysis. Results: The analysis showed that the nurses had a hierarchical organizational culture. Also the subjects' job satisfaction was significantly correlated with innovation, relation, and hierarchy-oriented factors and satisfaction with life. Conclusion: Innovative organizational culture is a leading factor in determining nurses' professional satisfaction. In view of the above it is recommended that strategies for creating innovative organizational culture and its application to nursing practice.

Daily Life Satisfaction Among Thai People: Socioeconomic Comparison

  • This descriptive study evaluated the satisfaction in daily life of Thai people according to participants' socioeconomic characteristics. The accidental sample included 676 Thai people aged 20 and older who lived in Bangkok and urban Saraburi. The satisfaction in daily life questionnaire (${\alpha}=0.86$) was used to collect data. The ranking for each aspect of daily life satisfaction arranged from high to low are: family life (mean=3.39), human relations, housing, food, job, health, and income (mean=2.99). Females were found to have a significantly higher satisfaction with daily life than males (mean=22.81 vs. 21.91). Those who lived in Saraburi province were found to have a higher satisfaction with daily life than those in Bangkok. Married participants, participants age 50-59, participants from two-generation households of parents and unmarried children, participants who stated that they took better care of their health now compared to one year ago, and participants who consulted a doctor in the past month were found to have higher satisfaction with daily life than their counterparts.

  • The purpose of study is to investigate the effect of life stress on university life satisfaction and majors' From April 2, 2018 to April 23, 2018, 364 students enrolled in Jeollanam-do and Gwangju were enrolled. The university life satisfaction and major satisfaction according to the general characteristics were the highest in the subjective health condition. Among the stresses of life, the professions were high in the interpersonal relations area and the academic problems were the highest among the task areas. The total stress of life was the lowest in 6-8 hours in the case of usual sleeping time. The major factor influencing college life satisfaction was majors' satisfaction. The major factor influencing major satisfaction was college life satisfaction, and the higher the life stress, the lower the satisfaction of major. Therefore, I would like to use this data as basic data for the development of programs that can alleviate life stress of University students.

A Study of Spiritual Well-Being, Depression, and Life Satisfaction of Students Majoring in Human Service Area (휴먼서비스 전공분야 대학생의 영적안녕과 우울 및 삶의 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between spiritual well-being, depression and life satisfaction majoring in human service area. Methods: The subjects were 212 college students. Data was collected from september 15 to October 26, 2009 using questionnaires. Means with standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data. Results: According to general characteristics of the students, there were statistically significant differences in spiritual well-being for religion and religious influence, in depression, there was statistically significant difference for health status, and in life satisfaction, there were statistically significant differences monthly pocket money, health status, current survival parents status, current problem. significant correlations were seen between spiritual well-being and depression (r=-.386, p =.000), life satisfaction (r=.536, p =.000). Conclusion: Spiritual well-being was significantly effects on depression and the life satisfaction. The finding suggest that it is needed to develop effective programs to improve spiritual well-being for college students.
