  • Problem/Project based learning(PBL) is a student-centered teaching method in which students collaboratively solve problems and reflect their experiences. According to the results of PBL study and the experiences of the authors in PBL instruction, this paper introduced the necessities, output and significance of learning process PBL evaluation method and sums up our PBL evaluation process. The issue of appropriate and fair evaluation has been raised in untact (non-contact) university mathematics education due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) of the year 2020. To this end, when we had the course on for the summer semester held at S University in the summer of 2020. To ensure the fairness in evaluation and to improve the quality of our college math education, the PBL evaluation method was fully adapted. As a result, most of the students who took the lecture have learned a wide range of related knowledge without a single exception, and students agreed it is an ideal, fair, rational, and effective evaluation method applicable to other online courses in the era of untact education. This case was summarized in detail and introduced in this paper.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of Korean Medicine (KM) doctors toward infertility treatment evaluation tools and develop a standard evaluation tool for mental and physical function improvement following Korean medicine treatment. Methods: An online survey (Moaform) was conducted, and responses were analyzed for members of the Society of Korean Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology and KM doctors who participated in the 2021-2022 traditional Korean medicine treatment infertility support program in Gyeonggi-do. Results: In fertility treatment, the most effective indicators that KM doctors wanted to evaluate other than pregnancy and childbirth were reproductive health indicators, overall health improvement, and stress improvement (33.1%, 21.2%, 18.9%). Furthermore, 45.1% of the respondents had experience using the presented infertility stress evaluation tools. For each evaluation tool, 52.1% and 54.6% of the respondents answered that it 'does not reflect the changing circumstances of the times' and that there were 'too many questions'. As for the developing a standard evaluation tool for infertility treatment in KM, KM doctors expected a simple and clear tool focusing on the pregnancy rate. They also wanted the tool to include a reproductive health index, overall function improvement and stress improvements. Conclusions: The survey confirmed the need to evaluate indicators for reproductive health, mental health, and infertility stress in addition to pregnancy rate to assess the effectiveness of KM infertility treatment. It also confirms the necessity of developing an infertility stress evaluation tool with simplified questions that reflects the changing time.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to understand and describe the hospital workers' experience related to the hospital evaluation program implemented in Korea between 2004 and 2009. Methods: During 2010, data were collected using focus group interviews. Four focus group interviews were held with a total of 28 hospital workers participating. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they were spoken, and data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Nine themes emerged from the analysis: 1) Positive change in the necessity of the evaluation; 2) Improvement in the hospital system, facilities, and human resources; 3) Unity through cooperation among departments; 4) Nursing work overload; 5) Lack of physicians' awareness and responsibilities; 6) Unfair and unrealistic evaluation items; 7) Lack of credibility of the outcome; 8) Shifting responsibility for negative outcomes to the workers; 9) Lack of pragmatic utility. Conclusion: The results of the study demonstrate that the hospital evaluation program played a key role in improving some work environments and communication among departments. At the same time, they show various negative themes resulting from the context of very authoritarian hospital systems and a connection-oriented society in Korea.

  • Background: In evaluation of craniosynostosis patients in terms of neurodevelopmental delay, positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET-CT) scan can be used to assess brain abnormalities through glucose metabolism. We aimed to determine the unnecessity of PET-CT in this study. Methods: Thirty-eight patients diagnosed with craniosynostosis who underwent distraction osteogenesis from October, 2010 to November, 2013 were reviewed. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and PET-CT scan were carried out for evaluation of the brain structure and function, whereas X-ray and CT scan were taken for evaluation of the skull. Results: Nine patients reported abnormal MRI findings which were not significant, and five patients showed local problem on brain on PET-CT scan. No correlation was found among them. Conclusion: PET-CT evaluation of possible abnormal brain findings do not affect surgical planning or require additional therapy. Preoperative PET-CT scan is not the essential study to get any etiologic information of the disease consequences or to establish the treatment plan.

  • This study is designed to understand evaluation criteria for garment depending on demographic factors among college students in Yanbian, China. Questionnaire was used for measurement tools to study the subject of the thesis. The main study was conducted against 450 college students from May 17 to June 5, 2001. The data for the study were analyzed using SAS PC program for frequency distribution, percentage, t-test, and one way ANOVA. The evaluation criteria for garment are affected by demographic factors such as gender, average monthly household income, monthly expense for clothing. The result was showed as follows: The evaluation criteria for garment based on gender showed almost no meaningful different between male and female college students. Means on factors considered highly in selecting clothes was studied. The result shows that 'fit to the body, 'quality', 'color' and 'pattern' are considered most highly and 'harmony with other clothes', 'after service', design' 'easy to manage' and 'price' are considered relatively highly, but 'brand' and 'trendy fashion' were not considered highly. A meaningful difference was showed only in one area-trendy fashion-among three different income level groups. Those with an average monthly household income between 500 and 2,000yuan showed a highest tendency compared to those with above 2,000yuan and those with 500yuan. In terms of evaluation criteria for garment based on monthly expense for clothing, 'brand' is the only area which showed a meaningful difference. Respondents with monthly clothing expense of above 100yuan showed a higher means than those with below 100yuan.

  • From Feb. 1996 to Feb. 1997. among sixty-four patients of anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) reconstruction using multi-stranded hamstring tendon and EndoButton fixation, twenty-five patients of volunteer, 15 men and 10 women, from 16 to 50 years of age(mean 27.6 years) underwent arthroscopic evaluation. Arthroscopic evaluation was routinely performed one year after surgery along with an examination of stability. The purpose of this study was to arthroscopically evaluate the morphological changes that occurred in hamstring tendon autograft one year after ACL reconstruction. Both of the tendon graft and the adjacent fibrous tissues were observed for gross appearance and physical properties with probing and response to passive anterior translation. Biopsy samples were taken from the surrounding fibrous tissue and the tendon graft. Grossly, we found a well-defined ligamentous structure with good tension tested with a probe. A common finding was that the reconstructed ligaments were embedded in a layer of the synovium, and blood vessels could be seen on the anterior surface of the ligament. The biopsy tissue was placed in formalin solution and subjected to histological preparation by hematoxylin and eosin staining method. The hamstring tendon graft appeared histologically normal under light microscopic finding. There were a few vessels located between existing collagen bundles, and the vessels had an orderly pattern. The surrounding fibrous tissue envelope was covered with synovium. We pleased with preliminary findings in our evaluation.

  • Introduction: In a surgery of the oral cavity, nasotracheal intubation is often carried out to secure the surgical field. By passing a tracheal tube through the nasal cavity to the pharynx, the nasotracheal intubation can lead to complications that do not occur with oral intubation, such as nasal bleeding and submucosal aberration etc. The purpose of this study is to examine the method of CT evaluation and pretreatment for a safe nasotracheal intubation. Materials and Methods: Among 30 patients who orthognathic surgery was performed at Chung-Ang University Hospital during the period August 2009 to October 2009, 30 patients were included. The 30 patients were divided into two groups; 15 patients intubated with CT evaluation with pretreatment, and the other 15 patients intubated with no pretreatment. We evaluated nasal bleeding of the two groups during nasotracheal intubation. Results: CT evaluation with pretreatment group had a significantly lower incidence of nasal bleeding than the group with no pretreatment. Conclusion: CT evaluation with pretreatment helps to minimize nasal bleeding during nasotracheal intubation.
