An Error Detection and Recovery System based on Multimedia Computer Supported Cooperative Work (멀티미이어 협동 작업환경에서의 오류 감지 및 복구 시스템)

  • Multimedia isn ow applied to various real world areas. In particular, the focus on multimedia system and CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Work) has increased. In spite of this current trend, however, the study of fault tolerance for CSCW has not yet fully progressed. We propose EDR_MSCW. It is a system that is suitable for detecting ad recovering software error based on multimedia computer supported cooperative work as DOORAE by using software techniques. DOORAE is a framwork for supporting development on multimedia applications for computer-based collaborative works. When an error occurs, EDR_MCSCW detects an error by using hooking methods in MS-Windows API(Application Program Interface) function. If an error is found, we present a checkpointing and recovery algorithm which has the removal function of the domino-effect for recovering multimedia and CSCW by using stack.

A Digital Carousel System based on CoAP for N-Screen Environment (N-스크린 환경을 위한 CoAP 기반 디지털 캐로절 시스템)

  • In this paper, we discuss a model for increasing reliability of data through N screen server and client model environment. Our Digital Carousel enables user to share media objects through media synchronization mechanism. We suggest the Digital Carousel system based on CoAP(Constrained Application Protocol) for N-Screen so that the users participated in collaborative work may refer shared media objects as the same view to others. With this sharing system, a group cooperating users can share applications data. This paper explained a performance analysis of a system with function comparison running on multimedia collaboration work based on CoAP and N screen techniques.

  • A knowledge portal is an integrated gateway for accessing relevant knowledge, collaborating and communicating with other users, and also linking internal applications which is becoming crucial in the age of information abundance. Research and development is a typical knowledge-intensive activity. However, knowledge management support in R&D has been minimal in most research organizations. In this paper, a knowledge portal is designed to support team-based researches in science and technology for searching and browsing knowledge, and also communicating with other team members, coordinating research project and collaborating with other researchers. Automating knowledge acquisition from various knowledge sources, knowledge categorization by applying text categorization method, and knowledge recommendation can help to relieve management effort and increase the efficiency of knowledge management processes. A prototype system based on the suggested model is also presented.

Intervening in Mathematics Group Work in the Middle Grades

  • Over the last three decades, there has been an increasingly strong emphasis on group-centered approaches to mathematics teaching. One primary responsibility for teachers who use group-centered instruction is to "check in", or intervene, with groups to monitor group learning and provide mathematical support when necessary. While prior research has contributed valuable insight for successful teacher interventions in mathematics group work, there is a need for more fine-grained analyses of interactions between teachers and students. In this study, we co-conducted research with an exemplary middle grade teacher (Ms. Green) to learn about fine-grained details of her intervention practices, hoping to generate knowledge about successful teacher interventions that can be expanded, replicated, and/or contradicted in other contexts. Analyzing Ms. Green's practices as an exemplary case, we found that she used exceptionally short interventions (35 seconds on average), provided space for student dialogue, and applied four distinct strategies to support groups to make mathematical progress: (1) observing/listening before speaking; (2) using a combination of social and analytic scaffolds; (3) redirecting students to task instructions; (4) abruptly walking away. These findings imply that successful interventions may be characterized by brevity, shared dialogue between the teacher and students, and distinct (and sometimes unnatural) teaching moves.

  • This study recognized the mutual collaborative characteristics among consultants as important factors in the performance of the government-supported consulting business, and wanted to look at the impact of the cooperative characteristics among consultants on the consulting performance. First, a research model was presented based on theoretical background, hypotheses were set up and surveyed, and hypotheses were verified by multi-circulation analysis. Among the collaboration characteristics among consultants, the most influential was mutual reliable followed by smooth communication, professional competence and role sharing. information sharing was rejected and was found to be relatively less affected than other variables. This can be seen as more important than the quantitative aspect of information sharing because of the collaborative nature of consultants who must work toward common goals. Collaboration among consultants has been positive when carrying out government-funded consulting projects, suggesting that quantitative characteristics should be considered based on the qualitative characteristics based on mutual reliable. In the future, we hope that this data will be useful for identifying collaborative characteristics among consultants when carrying out consulting projects.

  • Recently, the importance of software education is growing because computational thinking of software education is recognized as a key means of future economic development. Also human resources who will lead the 4th industrial revolution need convergence and creativity, computational thinking based on critical thinking, communication, and collaborative learning is known to be effective in creativity education. Software education is also a time needed to reflect social issues such as collaboration with developers sharing interests and open source development methods. Github is a leading social coding site that facilitates collaborative work among developers and supports community activities in open software development. In this study, we apply operational cases of basic learning of social coding sites, learning for storage server with sources and outputs of lectures, and open collaborative learning by using Github. And we propose educational model consisted of four stages: Introduction to Github, Using Repository, Applying Social Coding, Making personal portfolio and Assessment. The proposal of this paper is very effective for software education by attracting interest and leading to pride in the student.

  • Science teachers in elementary schools and secondary schools recognize the necessity of character education, feeling difficulties such as evaluation methods, mood of competition, extra work and lack of time according to previous research, which were based on answers from science teachers not experiencing character education. As a rare study of teacher experiencing, previous researches didn't fully address the problems and suggestions about adopting character education in science classrooms. This study is about teacher practice of character education on site with the CoProC (Collaborative Problem-Solving for Character Competence) program in science classes with which other previous studies shed new light. Five teachers, adapting the CoProC program in their science classes, participated in two interviews, sharing their student achievement in character education. Results showed that student achievement was high when their teacher had experienced the training program, development, and classes of CoProC rather than their normal teaching career. Teacher recognition on the aims of CoProC influenced difficulties, evaluation, and feedback.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the work of a local government records manager, provide job analysis using importance-performance analysis (IPA), and define the differences and characteristics in the perception of the work by employment and career type with the aim of providing basic data on effective business operation. To this end, this study conducted statistics analysis and an IPA matrix after analyzing the work of records managers in the local government and conducting surveys. Based on the analysis results, this study suggests installing a local archives management institution, securing the necessary budget for performing works, training staff, calling for assistant staff and collaborative work between other departments within the organization, and retraining of jobs differently based on the difference in perception of work by employment type and career as solutions.

  • SolarPACES is an international cooperative network bringing together teams of national exports from around the world to focus on the development and marketing of concentrating solar power systems (also known as solar thermal power systems). It is one of a number of collaborative programs, called Implementing Agreements, managed under the umbrella of the International Energy Agency to help find solutions to worldwide energy problems. Technology development is at the core of the work of SolarPACES. Member countries work together on activities aimed at solving the wide range of technical problems associated with commercialization of concentrating solar technology, including large-scale system tests and the development of advanced technologies, components, instrumentation, and systems analysis techniques. In addition to technology development, market development and building of awareness of the potential of concentrating solar technologies are key elements of the SolarPACES program The Implementing Agreement specifies broad "Tasks," or thematic areas of work SolarPACES currently has three ongoing tasks, focusing on concentrating solar electric power systems (Task I), solar chemistry research (Task II), and solar technology and applications (Task III). An Operating Agent, nominated by the ExCo, is responsible for overseeing the work of each task Each task maintains a detailed program of work that defines all task activities, including their objectives, participants, plans, and budgets. In addition to technical reports of the activities and their participants, accomplishments and progress are summarized in the SolarPACES annual report. Many SolarPACES activities involve close cooperation among member countries (either through sharing of task activities or, occasionally, cost-sharing), although some cooperation is limited to sharing of information and results with other participants. In this paper, structure, works, and members of SolarPACES and Korean activies in the SolarPACES are introduced.
