Effects of ethylene inhibitors like silver nitrate $(AgNO_3)$, cobalt chloride $(CoCl_2)$ and Salicylic acid (SA) on multiple shoot induction and their impact on ethylene production using embryonal cotyledon cultures of Cucumis sativus L. were examined. The optimum concentration of $AgNO_3\;(40{\mu}M),\;CoCl_2\;(20{\mu}M)\;and\;SA\;(20{\mu}M)$, separately, induced maximum number of shoots on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium supplemented optimally with $4.44{\mu}M$ BA and $0.25{\mu}M$ NAA. Among the three ethylene inhibitors tested, $AgNO_3$ produced maximum number of shoots when compared to $CoCl_2$ and SA Ethylene production was monitored in all the treatments with $AgNO_3/CoCl_2/SA$ and it was observed that the treatment with $AgNO_3$ alone showed increase in ethylene production when compared to $CoCl_2$ and SA Even though ethylene concentration was the highest in $AgNO_3$ treated explants, maximum number of shoots was obtained.
The microstructure and hardness of (W,Ti)C cemented carbides with a different metallic binder composition of Ni and Co fabricated by powder technology were investigated. The densifications of the prepared materials were accomplished by using vacuum sintering at $1450^{\circ}C$. Nearly full dense (W,Ti)C cemented carbides were obtained with a relative density of up to 99.7% with 30 wt.% Co and 99.9% with 30 wt.% Ni as a metallic binder. The average grain size of the (W,Ti)C-Co and the (W,Ti)C-Ni was decreased by increasing the metallic binder content. The hardness of the dense (W,Ti)C-15 wt%Co and (W,Ti)C-15 wt%Ni, was greater than that of the other related cemented carbides; in addition, the cobalt-based cemented carbides had greater hardness values than the nickel-based cemented carbides.
The degradation efficiencies of phenol in aqueous solution were studied by semi-continuous experiments in the processes of ozone alone, ozone/bulky $Co_3O_4$ and ozone/$Co_3O_4$ nanoparticles. Catalyst samples (bulky $Co_3O_4$ and $Co_3O_4$ nanoparticles) were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area, $pH_{pzc}$ and the density of surface hydroxyl groups of the two catalyst samples were also measured. The catalytic activity of $Co_3O_4$ nanoparticles was investigated for the removal of phenol in aqueous solutions under different reaction temperatures. Tert-butyl alcohol had little effect on the catalytic ozonation processes. Based on these results, the possible catalytic ozonation mechanism of phenol by $Co_3O_4$ nanoparticles was proposed as a reaction process between ozone molecules and pollutants.
This research was performed to investigate how the basic glaze change affected colour development at high temperature with a stable colorant (spinel structure CoAl2O4 pigment) The compounded pigment which is widely used for porcelain was also tested for the basic glazes adaptability. The data from the test were recorded in a computer data-base program. Therefore could be easily used in the study related with a pottery field. CoO : Al2O3 system spinel pigment of barium glaze lime glaze zinc glaze lead glaze and talc glaze were chosen for this study. The colors of Cobalt blue bright blue, blue purple were seen at the wave lengths of 455-480nm at the firing temperature of 1250$^{\circ}C$. Stable color were obtained from lime glaze bar-ium glaze zinc glaze. All the information in the database were used to examine all the possible result of the test in the study of porcelain. When the test results database were examined in all temperature ranges the lack of adhesion with the pigment occurred at the temperature of 1150$^{\circ}C$. The lack of adhesion is seen due to vaporization of the lead glaze.
Vertically aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes are grown on silicon oxide substrate at 950$^{\circ}C$ by thermal chemical vapor deposition using $C_{2}H_2$. Three catalytic metals such as iron(Fe), cobalt (Co), and nickel(Ni) are used as catalyst, we found that the growth rate of carbon nanotubes for three catalyst particles are in an order of Fe > Ni > Co. All carbon nanotubes are revealed to have bamboo structure with no encapsulated catalytic particles, the diameter of carbon nanotubes depend on the catalyst, the tip and the compartment sheets of bamboo structure also depend on the shape of catalytic particles.
[ $SiO_{2}$ ] or SiON is usually deposited and annealed after formation of silicide in real transistor fabrication processes. Nickel silicide and nickel silicide with Co interlayer were annealed at 650$^{\circ}C$ for 30 min with silica top layer in this study to investigate its thermal stability. SEM, XPS, and FPP(four point probe) were employed for the investigation. Nickel silicide with Co interlayer showed improved thermal stability. Co interlayer seems to play a key role to the stability of nickel silicide.
Rates of solvolysis of trans-[Co$(N-eten)_2Cl_2$]$^+$ have been investigated using spectrophotometric method at various pressures and temperatures in the mixtures of water with the t-butyl alcohol which possesses a high structure inducing capacity in water. The values of ${\Delta}V^{\neq}$ obtained from pressure effect on the rate constants were 2.55∼ 5.83 $cm^3mol^{-1}$. These values were discussed in terms of dissociative mechanism. Extrema found in the variation of ${\Delta}H^{\neq}$ and ${\Delta}S^{\neq}$ with solvent composition correlated with extrema in the variation of the physical properties of the mixtures. The logarithms of rate constants correlated linearly with both Grunwald-Winstein parameter and the reciprocal of dielectric constant ($Ds^{-1}$). The gradient, m of Grunwald-Winstein plot for the trans-[Co$(N-eten)_2Cl_2$]$^+$ was 0.09, which is significantly lower than those for the other cobalt (Ⅲ)-dichloro complexes. It was suggested that the reaction is an Id mechanism with long extension of Co-Cl bond in the transition state, as found for the C-Cl bond in the transition state for the solvolysis of t-butyl chloride.
The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane can be used for the selective separation of Mn (II) from Co (II). By solvent-nonsolvent method, D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants can be effectively immobilized into PolyHIPE membrane. The pore structure of PolyHIPE membrane and the presence of TBP enhance the stability of immobilized co-extractants. The optimal operating conditions for the separation of Mn (II) and Co (II) are feeding phase at pH 5.5, sulfuric acid concentration in the stripping phase of about 50 g/L and stirring speed at 400 rpm. The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants ratio of 5:1 shows synergetic effect on Mn/Co separation factor about 22.74. The removal rate and recovery rate of Mn (II) is about 98.4 and 97.1%, respectively, while for Co (II) the transport efficiency is insignificant. The kinetic study of Mn (II) transport shows that high initial flux, $J_f^o=80.1({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, and maxima stripping flux, $J_s^{max}=20.8({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, can be achieved with D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane. The stability and reusability study shows that the membrane can maintain a long term performance with high efficiency. High purity of Co (II) and Mn (II) can be recovered from the feeding phase and stripping phase, respectively.

The impact of the sintering process, especially in terms of sintering temperature and sintering aid concentration, on the ohmic transport and electrode performance of $(La_{0.80}Sr_{0.20})_{0.95}CoO_{3-{\delta}}$-gadolinia-doped ceria (LSCF-GDC) cathodes is studied. The ohmic and charge-transfer kinetics exhibit a highly coupled $Co_3O_4$ concentration dependency, showing the best performances at an optimum range of 4-5 wt%. This is ascribed to small grain sizes and improved connection between particles. The addition of $Co_3O_4$ was also found to have a dominant impact on charge-transfer kinetics in the LSCF-GDC composite layer and a moderate impact on the electronic transport in the current-collecting LSCF layer. Care should be taken to avoid a formation of excessive thermal stresses between layers when adding $Co_3O_4$.
A reliable and well-characterized dosimetry system which is traceable to the international measurement system, is the key element to quality assurance in radiation processing with cobalt-60 gamma rays, X-rays, and electron beam. This is specifically the case for health-regulated processes, such as the radiation sterilization of single use medical devices and food irradiation for preservation and disinfestation. Polyethylene is considered to possess a lot of interesting dosimetric characteristics. In this work, a detailed study has been performed to determine the dosimetric characteristics of a commercialized high-density polyethylene (HDPE) film using Fourier transformed infrared spectrometry (FTIR). Correlations have been established between the absorbed dose and radiation induced infrared absorption in polyethylene having a maximum at 965 cm-1 (transvinylene band) and 1716 cm-1 (ketone-carbonyl band). We have found that polyethylene dose-response is linear with dose for both bands up to1000 kGy. For transvinylene band, the dose-response is more sensitive if irradiations are made in helium. While, for ketone-carbonyl band, the dose-response is more sensitive when irradiations are carried out in air. The dose-rate effect has been found to be negligible when polyethylene samples are irradiated with electron beam high dose rates. The irradiated polyethylene is relatively stable for several weeks after irradiation.
