It had been studied the structure and the magnetic properties of singel phase Co2Y(Ba2Co2Fe12O22) powder, one of the hexagonal ferrite. The material was successfully prepared by a commercially applicable coprecipitation method. Adding asqueous solution of BaCl2, CoCl2 and FeCl2(Ba2+:Co2+:Fe2+=1:1:6 in mole ratio) to a mixture of NaOH and hydrogen peroxide solution, coprecipitate was formed with rapid oxidation of ferrous to ferric ion. The coprecipitate transformed to single phase Co2Y powder at heat treatment temperatures as low as 900$^{\circ}C$. The shape of Co2Y particles obtained at 900$^{\circ}C$ was hexagonal plate-like (diameter∼$\mu\textrm{m}$, aspect ratio>10). The structure of the Co2Y was refined by a Rietveld analysis of the measured X-ray diffractogram. The lattice parameters are ao=5.8602${\AA}$ and co=43.512${\AA}$. Co2Y is a soft magnetic material with saturation magnetization 30 emu/g and coecivity 170 . A standard X-ray diffraction pattern for Co2Y is proposed as well.
Confined Pt and $CoFe_2O_4$ nanoparticles (NPs) in a mesoporous core/shell silica microsphere, Pt-$CoFe_2O_4$@meso-$SiO_2$, were prepared using a bi-functional linker molecule. A large number of Pt NPs in Pt-$CoFe_2O_4$@meso-$SiO_2$, ranging from 5 to 8 nm, are embedded into the shell and some of them are in close contact with $CoFe_2O_4$ NPs. The hydrogenation of cyclohexene over the Pt-$CoFe_2O_4$@meso-$SiO_2$ microsphere at $25^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm of $H_2$ yields cyclohexane as a major product. In addition, it gives oxygenated products. Control experiments with $^{18}O$-labelled water and acetone suggest that surface-bound oxygen atoms in $CoFe_2O_4$ are associated with the formation of the oxygenated products. This oxidation reaction is operative only if $CoFe_2O_4$ and Pt NPs are in close contact. The Pt-$CoFe_2O_4$@meso-$SiO_2$ catalyst is separated simply by a magnet, which can be re-used without affecting the catalytic efficiency.

We measured the microwave permeability in the frequency range of 100 MHz$\sim$9 GHz in the exchange biased CoFe/MnIr films. The results were analyzed based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert theory. The initial permeability and ferromagnetic resonance frequency was tuned by controlling the CoFe thickness and unidirectional anisotropy. The tunable range of ferromagnetic resonance frequency was up to 20 GHz in the thin CoFe layer of 1.5 nm. The CoFe/MnIr films showed the high permeability and low loss properties in the microwave frequency range. Thus, this material could be applied to the microwave devices.
In this study, we have systematically investigated the effect of sputtering conditions on the microstructural properties of Ag/CoFeB thin film on MgO substrate. It was found that the crystallinity and surface roughness of the Ag film strongly depends on the Ar sputtering pressure and sputtering power. Epitaxial growth of Ag(100) film on MgO(100) substrate was achieved under the sputtering conditions of high sputtering power and elevated temperature. XRR (X-ray reflectivity) and high-resolution TEM (transmission electron microscopy) measurements also revealed the interfacial roughening in the Ag/CoFeB interface due to the island structure formation and intermixing between Ag and CoFeB.
Activated carbon (AC) was synthesized from Phoenix dactylifera stones and then modified by $CoFe_2O_4$ magnetic nanocomposite for use as a Cr(VI) adsorbent. Both $AC/CoFe_2O_4$ composite and AC were fully characterized by FTIR, SEM, XRD, TEM, TGA, and VSM techniques. Based on the surface analyses, the addition of $CoFe_2O_4$ nanoparticles had a significant effect on the thermal stability and crystalline structure of AC. Factors affecting chromium removal efficiency like pH, dosage, contact time, temperature, and initial Cr(VI) concentration were investigated. The best pH was found 2 and 3 for Cr adsorption by AC and $AC/CoFe_2O_4$ composite, respectively. The presence of ion sulfate had a greater effect on the chromium sorption efficiency than nitrate and chlorine ions. The results illustrated that both adsorbents can be used up to seven times to adsorb chromium. The adsorption process was examined by three isothermal models, and Freundlich was chosen as the best one. The experimental data were well fitted by pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The half-life ($t_{1/2}$) of hexavalent chromium using AC and $AC/CoFe_2O_4$ magnetic composite was obtained as 5.18 min and 1.52 min, respectively. Cr(VI) adsorption by AC and $AC/CoFe_2O_4$ magnetic composite was spontaneous and exothermic. In general, our study showed that the composition of $CoFe_2O_4$ magnetic nanoparticles with AC can increase the adsorption capacity of AC from 36 mg/L to 70 mg/L.

The effect of trace metallic additives on microstructure, surface appearance and hardness of zinc electrodeposits was investigated by using sulfate bath and flow cell system. The preferred orientation of Zn deposit with Fe additive was (103)(104)+(002) mixed texture and that of Zn deposits with both Fe-Ni and Fe-Co additives was (10 1), while Zn deposits with Fe-Cr additives had (002) preferred orientation. The surface morphology of the zinc deposits was closely related to the preferred orientation of the deposits. The glossiness of Zn deposit with Fe-Ni additives was higher than that of pure Zn deposit, while the glossiness of Zn deposits with both Fe-Co and Fe-Cr additives was lower than that of pure Zn deposit. The hardness of Zn deposits with both Fe-Ni and Fe-Co additives was noticeably higher than that of Zn-Fe deposit, while that of Zn deposit with Fe-Cr additives was similar to that of Zn-Fe deposit.
The $[Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/Cu/Co/Cu]$ multilayers were grown by evaporation technique, and according to magnetic exchange coupling relation, magnetoresistance ratio and magnetization curve were studied by Co inserting $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}/Cu$ interface. Insertion of Co layer to the antiferromagnetically coupled system, i. e $t_{Cu} = 25\;{\AA}$, decrese the MR ratio contrary to previous reports. However the insertion to the ferromagneticalyl coupled $(t_{Cu} = 27\;{\AA})$ and the noncoupled $(t_{Cu} = 47\;{\AA})$ systems increase the ratio to 3.5 % and 6 % respectively. The results imply that the insertion change the magnetic exchange coupling state as well as the spin dependent scattering of conduction electrons. Besides, insertion of Co layer between Cu and $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}$ layer enhaces thermal stability to the 300 $^{\circ}C$, which indicates that insertion of Co has a role of the effective diffusion barrier.

In this study, pure and Co3O4/CoFe2O4-loaded Indium oxide (In2O3) nanofibers were synthesized by the electrospinning of an Indium/Polyvinylpyrrolidone precursor solution containing cobalt and iron bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks and subsequent heat treatment. The ethanol, toluene, p-xylene, benzene, carbon monodxide, and hydrogen gas sensing characteristics of the solution were measured at 250-400 ℃. 0.5 at%-Co3O4/CoFe2O4-loaded In2O3 nanofibers exhibited extreme response (resistance ratio - 1) to 5 ppm of ethanol (210.5) at 250 ℃ and excellent selectivity over the interfering gases. In contrast, pure In2O3 nanofibers exhibited relatively low responses to all the analyte gases and low selectivity above 250-400 ℃. The superior response and selectivity toward ethanol is explained by the catalytic roles of Co3O4 and CoFe2O4 in gas sensing reaction and the electronic sensitization induced by the formation of p (Co3O4/CoFe2O4)-n (In2O3) junctions.

In this study, cobalt oxide (Co3O4) and cobalt-doped magnetite (CoFe2O4) nanoparticles were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. They were then used as corrosion inhibitors for corrosion protection of AA2024-T3 aluminum alloys. These obtained nanoparticles were characterized by x-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and Zeta potential measurements. Corrosion inhibition activities of Co3O4 and CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were determined by performing electrochemical measurements for bare AA2024-T3 aluminum alloys in 0.05 M NaCl + 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution containing Co3O4 or CoFe2O4 nanoparticles. Corrosion protection for AA2024-T3 aluminum alloys by a water-based epoxy with or without the synthesized Co3O4 or CoFe2O4 nanoparticles was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy during immersion in 0.1 M NaCl solution. The corrosion protection of epoxy coating deposited on the AA2024-T3 surface was improved by incorporating Co3O4 or CoFe2O4 nanoparticles in the coating. The corrosion protection performance of the epoxy coating containing CoFe2O4 was higher than that of the epoxy coating containing Co3O4.

Large saturation magnetization $4pM_s$ is essentially required for soft magnetic thin layers used in magnetic recording devices. Amorphous Co-based alloys and Fe-Co alloys may be regarded as one of the candidates for soft magnetic materials which possess large $4\piM_s$. Some preparation process to improve soft magnetism of these films were performed in this study. Addition of Ta seemed to be effective to change the magnetostriction constant $\lambda$ from positive value to negative one. The magnetoelastic energy $K_e$ is strongly dependent on $\lambda$. $(Co_{95.7}Zr_{4.3})_{100-x}Ta_x$ films with $K_e$ of negative value have sufficiently soft magnetic characteristics. $Fe_{90}Co_{10}$ alloy exhibits extremely large $4\piM_s$, of about 24 kG. Addition of N and Ta to $Fe_{90}Co_{10}$ films improved the soft magnetism of them. The $Fe_{82.0}Co_{7.6}Ta_{10.4}$:N/Ti multilayered films exhibit better soft magnetic properties and better thermal stability than Fe-Co-Ta:N singlelayer films.
