The purpose of this study was to find out the source of information and clothing benefits of female university students according to their shopping orientations. 340 female students living in Seoul were surveyed and the following results were found: Female students were divided into recreational shoppers and convenience shoppers according to their shopping orientations. Recreational shoppers exhibited interest in self-improvement, individuality, economy, and convenience shoppers in practicality of clothing benefits. Recreational shoppers focused higher value on gathering information than convenience shoppers and prefer information they gain in store display and mass communication media. Recreational shoppers have higher value on self-actualizing than social affiliation value. The findings indicate that shopping orientation can be used effectively to segment the female university students market and the finding of this study contribute to the development of strategies for clothing producer or retailer to provide a strong means to satisfy their shoppers' needs.
This study investigated the difference in the influence of shopping orientations, attributes evaluation, and benefits sought on brand loyalty between Korean and American consumers within a clothing purchase context. Questionnaires were administered to 237 Korean consumers and 184 American college students who had purchase experience of casual wear in recent six months through off-line. The results were as follows. First, the hedonic shopping orientation had a positive impact on brand loyalty in both groups, whereas efficient shopping orientation had a positive impact on brand loyalty in American group. Second, the aesthetic attribute had a positive impact on brand loyalty in both groups, whereas utilitarian attribute had a positive impact on brand loyalty in Korean group. Third, brand value benefit sought had a positive impact on brand loyalty in Korean group and body expression/complement had a positive impact on brand loyalty and economic benefit sought had a negative impact on brand loyalty in American group.
The purposes of this study were to segment the men in twenties and thirties according to clothing benefits sought, and to develop a profile of each segment concerning shopping orientation, self·image, and importance of store attributes. The questionnaire was administered to men in twenties and thirties living in Seoul and data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and MANOVA(multivarite analysis of variance). By cluster analysis of clothing benefits sought, three groups were identified and labeled as: (1) the group of focusing the influence of other people and comfort clothing(31.7%): (2) the group of pursuing the fashion trend (48.1%); the group of pursuing the individuality(20.1%). Three groups were then compared through MANOVA on shopping orientation, importance of store attributes, and self-image. Significant differences were found among three groups on three variables. In general, the group of focusing the influence of other people and comfort clothing tended to be ostentatious and tended to wear comfortable clothing. The group of pursuing the fashion trend didn't show specific shopping orientation and just liked to follow the current fashion trend. The group of pursuing the individuality enjoyed the shopping and liked to buy the clothing which enhances the personal character.
The objective of this study was to take a closer look at the clothing benefits sought by breast cancer survivors in Korea. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted, using the focus group interview. Data was collected from members of online breast cancer forum. 18 participants were breast cancer survivors who had mastectomy or lumpectomy in their 30s~50s. The data was analyzed using content analysis in order to identify significant themes. The analysis indicated that benefits were sought after functional/comfort, health, feminity, and compensation were found. First, breast cancer survivors considered functional/comfort to be most important benefit so as to keep the body comfortable from the weather. Second, participants put the healthy body as the first priority and chose a well-being lifestyle and were likely to wear clothes made in healthy fabric, such as organic, bamboo or charcoal. Also, they preferred to look active by wearing sport brands or outdoorwear brands. Third, after the surgery, they experienced the sense of femininity loss and the sense of crisis as a woman. Single women and married women in early 30s recognized more seriously, and they tried to recover feminity by wearing clothes with feminine details. Forth, breast cancer survivor consumers tended to shop for the psychological compensation. In summary, consumers with breast cancer surgery, unlike general healthy women, did not sought to be economic, fashion, self-expression benefits, rather they sought health, femininity, and compensation benefits. Therefore, it seems necessary to develop proper products and marketing strategy to meet the said consumer's special needs.
This study investigated multidimensional body image, self-esteem, clothing benefits sought, and Body Image After Breast Cancer (BIABC) within surgical subgroups among breast cancer survivors. The study applied the questionnaire survey method and the main research was conducted through an online survey. The respondents included 207 breast cancer survivors between the ages of 30 and 59, each of whom received the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ). Self-esteem, clothing benefits sought, examination, and demographic variables were measured using a 5-point Likert scale. The main results of this study are outlined below. For clothing benefit sought, six factors were formulated-pursuit of self-expression/social approval, function/health, compensation, femininity, fashion, and camouflage-and BIABC was defined by the four factors of body stigma/vulnerability, transparency, limitation and cancer concern. While MBSRQ and self-esteem did not show a statistically significant difference between groups differentiated by the surgical methods experienced, those who underwent mastectomies scored slightly lower than members of the other groups. Moreover, the reconstruction after mastectomy group showed the highest mean on self-expression/social approval, compensation, femininity and entire clothing benefits sought, followed by the lumpectomy group and mastectomy group. The lumpectomy group was found to have more positive BIABC than the mastectomy group. In particular, the mastectomy group showed a lower body stigma/vulnerability mean than the other groups. This study is meaningful in that it improves our understanding of the body image of breast cancer survivors and provides basic knowledge for developing products and marketing strategies for breast cancer survivors as consumers.

This study focuses on social norms and perceived benefits that are expected to lead to purchase fashion goods selling by social enterprises that can help guide the establishment of effective sales strategies for social enterprises. The relationships among two social norms (injunctive norms and descriptive norms), three perceived benefits (cause benefits, psychological benefits, and social image benefits), and purchase intention were investigated respectively. Data were collected via an online web survey and 11 hypotheses were statistically tested by using PLS-SEM analysis. Purchase intention toward the fashion products of social enterprises was influenced by four antecedent variables (injunctive and descriptive norms, cause and psychological benefits) excluding only social image benefits. However, descriptive norms only affected psychological benefits while injunctive norms only affected social image benefits. The findings suggest that the owners or marketers of social enterprises need to create a social atmosphere in which more consumers buy the fashion goods for social enterprises and emphasize consumers' psychological benefits that they feel mentally more comfortable by purchasing the fashion goods of social enterprises.
