The major concept of Sasang typology is that the disease susceptibility and drug response as well as physiological characteristics are presumed to be different depending on their Sasang types. Although characterizing fundamental basis of their traits are crucial in this research field, only pathological susceptibility and physical appearances were thoroughly studied. We evaluated their physiological characteristics by tapping psychological, physical and genetic traits of each Sasang types. After determining the Sasang type of one hundred three college students based on the Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification, the psychological, physical and genetic traits of each type were analyzed with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis and genetic polymorphism test, respectively. Each of the Sasang types showed significantly different profiles (Generalized estimation equation, coef=11.88, z=2.13, p=0.033), and could be distinctively classified based on their MBTI scores (discriminant analysis Wilks Lambda=0.611, df=8, chi-square=36.7, p<0.001). Subjects with the So-Eum type (Introversion and Judging) and the So-Yang type (Extroversion and Perceiving) showed contrasting psychological features, however they had similar anthropometric characteristics. Subjects with the Tae-Eum type showed bigger Body Mass Index ($R^2$=0.22, df=4, 74, F=5.07, p=0.001) and body shape compared to others. Although there were no significant differences in G-protein beta-3 subunit polymorphism, angiotensin-converting enzyme polymorphism and Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase polymprhisms among groups with Sasang types, it was shown that the dopamine system could be one for genetic marker for Sasang typology. These results demonstrated distinctive and essential traits of Sasang typology using reproducible psychometric, anthropometric and genetic evaluations. We also found that the Sasang typology was a bio-psychological typology which could show trait-specific guideline for individualized medicine.

Based on data from the Korean Academy for Dental Administration, which has been conducting the Dental Quality Improvement (QI) Contest since 2010, we aimed to provide basic data for the development of dental quality improvement indicators by analyzing the trends of dental quality improvement activities. A total of 54 articles in the dental QI contest from 2015 to 2021 were used to search for frequently used words and to classify the quality of dental care. The criteria for the quality dimension of dental care were first classified into structure, process, and outcome, and secondary classification was performed into patient safety, timeliness, patient-centeredness, equity, efficiency, effectiveness, and accessibility. The frequently used key terms were satisfaction (five times), efficiency (four times), system (three times), and implant (three times). The activities for process evaluation were high at 62.26%, structural evaluation activities at 35.85%, and outcome evaluation activities at 1.89%. According to the components of dental care quality improvement, the activity performed under efficiency was the highest (33.96%), followed by patient-centeredness (18.87%), effectiveness (16.98%), patient safety (15.09%), accessibility (5.66%), timeliness (1.89%), and the equity (1.89%). QI activities in dental hospitals were mainly activities on improvement in structure and process, as well as activities on efficiency, patient-centeredness, effectiveness, and patient safety.

Feeding is the most important behavior that represents the health and welfare of weanling pigs. The early detection of feed refusal is crucial for the control of disease in the initial stages and the detection of empty feeders for adding feed in a timely manner. This paper proposes a real-time technique for the detection and recognition of small pigs using a deep-leaning-based method. The proposed model focuses on detecting pigs on a feeder in a feeding position. Conventional methods detect pigs and then classify them into different behavior gestures. In contrast, in the proposed method, these two tasks are combined into a single process to detect only feeding behavior to increase the speed of detection. Considering the significant differences between pig behaviors at different sizes, adaptive adjustments are introduced into a you-only-look-once (YOLO) model, including an angle optimization strategy between the head and body for detecting a head in a feeder. According to experimental results, this method can detect the feeding behavior of pigs and screen non-feeding positions with 95.66%, 94.22%, and 96.56% average precision (AP) at an intersection over union (IoU) threshold of 0.5 for YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and an additional layer and with the proposed activation function, respectively. Drinking behavior was detected with 86.86%, 89.16%, and 86.41% AP at a 0.5 IoU threshold for YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and the proposed activation function, respectively. In terms of detection and classification, the results of our study demonstrate that the proposed method yields higher precision and recall compared to conventional methods.
Objectives : Acne is a common disease that affects more than 70% of adolescents. Acne patients have a poor quality of life compared to patients with other skin diseases. We tried to demonstrate the effectiveness of acne treatment using cleansing soap which is easily used in daily life. Methods : We selected 20 students with acne symptoms on their facial skin. We made herbal Cp (Cold process) soaps using Seosiokyongsan, Kyungohkgo, Hwangryunhaedoktang and Baeksoooh and distributed them to experiment participants. We let them wash their face in the morning and evening for 6 weeks using herbal Cp soap. Prior to the experiment, their skin condition was checked and assessed using A-ONE Smart One-Click Automatic Facial Diagnosis System three times at 3-week intervals. Acne status was classified into 6 stages according to KAGS and acne status was also measured 3 times in total. After the experiment, the changes of skin were analyzed through facial analysis test. Results : Based on the KAGS classification, the condition of acne has improved as a whole. The state of moisture was gradually increased and the state of skin oil was significantly decreased after 6 weeks of using soap compared to before using soap. Conclusions : Cp soaps made from four kinds of herbal medicine are believed to improve the condition of acne by increasing the moisture of the facial skin and decreasing the skin oil content.

The intrinsic concepts of the three yin and three yang diseases in is unclear yet in spite of considerable controversy. In order to answer these problems, the structures of pathological transmission and anatomical terms used in the text were analyzed first. On these structural bases, the theoretical background and differential therapeutic principles of three yin and three yang disease classification. The organic structures frequently used in the text were heart, stomach, pancreas, blood chamber and urinary bladder, and the important regions in the transmission were chest, flank, epigastrium, abdomen, hypogastrium, groin on the other hand. When a host is invaded by extrinsic pathogen, an affinity is formed between the two based on the similarity of epidermal density condition and nutrient-defense features and existing disorders in the body. And then the symptoms show in 3 stages with 6 patterns in the general infective diseases. The initial stage is the period that the syndrome is limited in the external flesh area, and it mainly corresponds with taiyang bing besides the other exterior patterns of 3 yang and 2 yin bing. The middle stage is to the climax after the end of initial stage and it corresponds with mainly yangming bing including shaoyang and taiyin bing. In the terminal stage, the host gradually falls into exhaustive step or recovery phase, corresponding with shaoyin and jueyin bing. Conclusively, these dual meanings of three yang and yin should be a first guide and principle of treatment against various infective diseases.

Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to describe how Wu Kun(吳昆) understood Huangdineijing 『黃帝內經』 and implemented his understanding when writting Yifangkao 『醫方考』. Methods : From Yifangkao 『醫方考』, we collected all paragraphs including "經曰", "內經曰" while excluding the ones with "論曰" to filter out Sanghanlun 『傷寒論』's perspective. The contents of Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』 and Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』, cited in Wu Kun's Yifangkao 『醫方考』 were extracted, identified from which part it comes and sorted into headings under RyuPyeon Huangjenaegyung 『類編黃帝內經』. Results : The most cited traditional chinese medical classic in Yifangkao 『醫方考』 was Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』 Yinyangyingxiangdalun 「陰陽應象大論篇」 which was cited 41 times. Zhizhenyaodalun 「至眞要大論篇」 had a total of 39 citations followed by Shengqitongtianlun 「生氣通天論篇」 and Liuyuanzhengjidalun 「六元正紀大論篇」 which were cited 13 times and 11 times each. In addition, it was confirmed that other 28 chapters from Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經· 素問』, 3 chapters from Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』, 3 chapters from Nanjing 『難經』 and one chapter from Zhenjiujiayijing 『鍼灸甲乙經』 were also cited. Also the analysis of the classification of the Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內 經·素問』 showed that 57 citations were classified as 'treatment', 41 citations were classified as 'Yin and Yang and Five phases', 39 citations were calssified as 'Cause and Mechanism of Disease'. Conclusion : 1. Yifangkao 『醫方考』 have explained prescriptions by implementing principles from 5 kinds of traditional chinese medical classic including Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』, Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』 etc. 2. According to table 3, Yifangkao 『醫方考』 have cited Huangdineijing·Suwen 『』 to explain how each compounds were used and how the Korean medical principle of Yin and Yang was applied in the prescriptions. 3. It can be suggested in formula study there is utility to understand principles of traditional chinese medical classic to comprehend prescriptions.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a disease with distinct ethnic and geographic distribution. The incidence of NPC in Chinese residing in Asia has declined over the last few decades, but NPC mortality trends in the entire Chinese population over time have not been systematically evaluated. In this study, we examined NPC mortality at the national level in China between 1973-2005. Mortality rates were derived from the databases of national retrospective surveys on cancer mortality conducted in the periods of 1973-1975, 1990-1992, and 2004-2005, respectively. NPC was classified according to the International classification of diseases. Age-adjusted mortality rates were calculated by direct standardization according to the world standard population. Trends in rates were evaluated by age, gender, geographic areas, and socioeconomic status. From 1973 to 2005, there was a general trend of decrease in NPC mortality in China, with higher rates in the south on a downward trend in the north. The age-standardized NPC mortality rates were 2.60 per 100,000 in 1973-1975, 1.94 per 100,000 in 1990-1992, and 1.30 per 100,000 in 2004-2005, respectively. The trend was similar in both men and women, in both urban and rural areas, but the declining rates in females were more remarkable than in males. The mortality rates were higher for the age groups above 50 years than those less than 50 years of age, both showing downward trend over 30-year period. In summary, the overall NPC mortality has consistently decreased in China over the past three decades, particularly in women and in old adults.
