  • Color image quantization is a process of selecting a set of colors to display an image with some representative colors without noticeable perceived difference. It is very important in many applications to display a true color image in a low cost color monitor or printer. the basic problem is how to display 224 colors with 256 or less colors, called color palette. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to design the 256 or less size color palette by using spatial maskin geffect of HVS and subjective distortion measure weighted by color palette by using spatial masking effect of HVS and subjective distortion measure weighted by color activity in 4*4 local region in any color image. The proposed algorithm consists of octal prequantization and subdivision quantization processing step using the distortion measure and modified Otsu's between class variance maximization method. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has higher visual quality and needs less consuming time than conventional algorithms.

  • In this paper, we give examples of models we have created for use in university mathematics courses. We explain the concept of linear transformation, investigate the roles of each component of 2 ${\times}$ 2 and 3 ${\times}$ 3 transformation matrices, consider the relation between sound and trigonometry, visualize the Riemann sum, the volume of surfaces of revolution and the area of unit circle. This paper illustrates how one can use Mathematica to visualize abstract mathematical concepts, thus enabling students to understand mathematics problems effectively in class. Development of these kinds of teaching and learning models can stimulate the students' curiosity about mathematics and increase their interest.

  • Tissue transglutaminase (TGII, $G{\alpha}h$) belongs to a family of enzymes which catalyze post-translational modification of proteins by forming isopeptides via $Ca^{2+}$-dependent reaction. Although TGII-mediated formation of isopeptides has been implicated to play a role in a variety of cellular processes, the physiological function of TGII remains unclear. In addition to this Tease activity, TGII is a guanosine triphosphatase (GTPase) which binds and hydrolyzes GTP It is now well recognized that the GTPase action of TGII regulates a receptor-mediated transmembrane signaling, functioning as a signal transducer of the receptor. This TGII function signifies that TGII is a new class of GTP-binding regulatory protein (G-protein) that differs from "Classical" heterotrimeric G-proteins. Regulation of enzyme is an important biological process for maintaining cell integrity. This review summarizes the recent development in regulation of TGII that may help for the better understanding of this unique enzyme. Since activation and inactivation of GTPase of TGII are similar to the heterotrimeric G-proteins, the regulation of heterotrimeric G-protein in the transmembrane signaling is also discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective cut generation method based on the Chvatal-Gomory procedure for a variable-capacity (0,1)-Knapsack problem, which is the same problem as the ordinary binary knapsack problem except that a binary capacity variable is newly introduced. We first derive a class of valid inequalities for the problem using Chvatal-Gomory procedure, then analyze the associated separation problem. Based on the results, we show that there exists a pseudopolynomial time algorithm to solve the separation problem. Preliminary computational results are presented which show the effectiveness of the proposed cut generation method.

  • In this paper, multiple object tracking system in a known environment is proposed. It extracts moving areas shaped on objects in video sequences and detects racks of moving objects. Color invariant co-occurrence matrices are exploited to extract the plausible object blocks and the correspondences between adjacent video frames. The measures of class separability derived from the features of co-occurrence matrices are used to improve the performance of tracking. The experimented results are presented.

  • DXS catalyzes the first step of MEP pathway. Escherichia coli disruptants defective in dxs were constructed by insertional mutation and characterized. Selected disruptant, DXM3, was auxotrophic for DX or ME. Putative class 1 DXS ORF from Ginkgo biloba was shown to rescue DXM3 grown without DX or ME supplementation. The putative ORF was thus confirmed as DXS1. The disruptant was demonstrated to be useful for DSX screening.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure the life satisfaction of after-school classes. For this purpose, utilizing the theoretical background and the findings of previous studies, 147 questions from eight factors were selected for the 1st draft and 67 questions were selected for the 2nd draft by reviewing the validity of the contents after consulting with eleven professionals. A preparatory survey and factor analysis was then conducted using 291 people and a total of 32 questions were extracted from four sub-factors. Exploratory factor analysis by principal component analysis was conducted and orthogonal rotation was conducted by means of the VARIMAX method. The reliability of the class environment, operation management, program and teacher relationship sector were found to be very high. It is suggested that this study can be of great benefit in developing a child-centered scale and it's reliability was also found to be high.

  • In this paper, the finite element formulation for the thermal analysis of quasi-static, uncoupled, homogeneous, isotropic and linear viscoelastic problems is presented based on the principle of virtual work. The viscoelastic material is assumed to be thermorheologically simple, which is well known material property in a large class of high polymers. The variational formulation and the finite element equation in matrix from are derived. Effective generation and storage of the hereditary stiffness matrices are given in detail especially for the case of the steady state temperature distribution T=T(x). Some numerical examples are given and compared with published results to show the versatility of the derived finite element formulations.

  • This study analyzes Korean middle school students' pronunciation errors of stop-liquid sequences in English. The results showed two typical errors: the insertion of a vowel between a stop and a liquid and the substitution of a liquid with a flap or vice versa. Those pronunciation errors seem to occur since English and Korean have different syllable structures and different types of liquids. A teaching material, which emphasizes no vowel insertion for a proper pronunciation of the consonant clusters, was designed to reduce Korean students' pronunciation errors. Errors were reduced substantially after a 50-minute class with the newly designed material.

  • Today, It is difficult to search the various and numerous information efficiently. For this reason, Semantic Web emerged to provide searching services more easily through the structuring of a variety of unstructured format data and the definition of meaningful relationships between information. Especially, definition of relationship and meaning among resources is significant to share and infer related information. Ontology modeling plays just that role. Weapon parts development information is unstructured and dispersed all over. There are many difficulties in finding desired information, leading to getting improper outcomes. In this paper, we present an intuitive ontology model with weapon parts development information including the multi-dimensional information analysis and expansion of the relevant information. This study build up a ontology model through creating class and hierarchy about parts information and defining the properties of classes with Ontology Development 101[1] procedures using Protégé tools. The ontology model provides users with a platform on which search of needed information can be easy and efficient.
