This paper proposes a single power-conversion ac-dc converter with a dc-link capacitor-less and high power factor. The proposed converter is derived by integrating a full-bridge diode rectifier and a series-resonant active-clamp dc-dc converter. To obtain a high power factor without a power factor correction circuit, this paper proposes a suitable control algorithm for the proposed converter. The proposed converter provides single power-conversion by using the proposed control algorithm for both power factor correction and output control. Also, the active-clamp circuit clamps the surge voltage of switches and recycles the energy stored in the leakage inductance of the transformer. Moreover, it provides zero-voltage turn-on switching of the switches. Also, a series-resonant circuit of the output-voltage doubler removes the reverse-recovery problem of the output diodes. The proposed converter provides maximum power factor of 0.995 and maximum efficiency of 95.1% at the full-load. The operation principle of the converter is analyzed and verified. Experimental results for a 400W ac-dc converter at a constant switching frequency of 50kHz are obtained to show the performance of the proposed converter.
In this paper, a lens actuator for mobile devices is proposed using stack type piezoelectric materials. In general, the deformation of PZT actuators is not enough for lens motion when the allowed voltage is applied. The small stroke problem can be solved by accumulating a lot of small displacements in high frequency. In this paper, a new inch-worm type model for focusing actuator is suggested based on the interaction of inertial and frictional forces. Theoretical analysis and simulation using ANSYS are performed to verify the feasibility of the inch-worm PZT actuator model. Various types of clamps are considered to determine the effect of frictional force on the motion, and appropriate clamp-actuator models are proposed. The proposed models are experimentally verified and the experimental results show high correspondence with theoretical and simulated values. The inch-worm type focusing actuator enable a large stroke with 7.79 mm/sec with 10kHz and 10V.
In this paper, a secondary resonance half-bridge dc-dc converter with an inductive output filter is presented. The primary side of such a converter utilizes asymmetric pulse width modulation (APWM) to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the switches, and clamps the voltage of the switch to the input voltage. In addition, zero current switching (ZCS) of the output diode is achieved by a half-wave rectifier circuit with a filter inductor and a resonant branch in the secondary side of the proposed converter. Thus, the switching losses and diode reverse-recovery losses are eliminated, and the performance of the converter can be improved. Furthermore, an inductive output filter exists in the converter reduce the output current ripple. The operational principle, performance analysis and design equation of this converter are given in this paper. The analysis results show that the output diode voltage stress is independent of the duty cycle, and that the voltage gain is almost linear, similar to that of the isolation Buck-type converter. Finally, a 200V~380V input, 24V/2A output experimental prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis.
Vinyl house consists of main rafter, lateral member, clamps and polyethylene film. Many vinyl houses are used to grow fruits, flowers and vegetables in the countryside. Due to climate change, vinyl houses are often destroyed by strong winds or typhoons in summer. Many farmers suffer great economic damage from the collapse of vinyl houses. So it is very important to build a safe vinyl house and find a method to withstand this heavy wind load. In this study, a structural analysis was performed on four types of vinyl houses(10-single-4, 10-single-6, 10-single-7, 10-single-10). In addition, axial force and flexural moment are obtained from the structural analysis of four types of vinyl house. For these four types of vinyl house, structural safety was reviewed by obtaining the combined stress ratio by the strength design method. This structural review showed that the specifications for the vinyl house proposed in the design are not safe. Especially, the result of structural analysis for four types of vinyl house showed that the vinyl house structure constructed as a standard was a very dangerous structure. Therefore, it is necessary to devise diverse methods in order to make vinyl houses structurally safe for heavy wind load in the future. Also a variety of manual development is needed to prevent the collapse of vinyl houses at heavy wind load.
Vinyl house consists of main rafter, lateral member, clamps and polyethylene film. Many vinyl houses are used in the countryside to grow vegetables. These vinyl houses have occasionally been collapsed due to heavy snowfall in winter. Many farmers get a lot of economical damages, if vinyl houses are collapsed. So it is most important to built a safe vinyl house that can withstand heavy snowfall. In this study, a structural analysis was performed on three types of vinyl houses(07-single-01, 10-single-04, 12-single-01). In addition, the structural analysis of the three types of vinyl houses provided axial forces, flexural moment, and combined stress. For these three types of vinyl houses, structural safety was reviewed by obtaining the combined stress ratio by the strength design method. This structural review showed that the specifications for the vinyl house proposed in the design are not safe. Especially, the result of increasing the design snow load by 15 percent and 30 percent showed that the vinyl house structure constructed as a standard for vinyl house was a more dangerous structure. Therefore, it is necessary to revise regulations such as increasing the thickness of rafters or widening the gap in order to make vinyl houses structurally safe for heavy snowfall in the future, and to devise diverse methods to make vinyl houses that are structurally safe.

In order to strengthen the reinforced concrete T-beams having insufficient shear strength, several strengthening techniques are available in the literature. In this study, three different strengthening strategies were numerically studied. First one is affixing steel plates to the beam surfaces. Second one includes tightening external steel bars vertically similar to beam stirrups. The last one is simultaneous application of these two strengthening procedures which is particularly proposed in this work. Available experimental test series in the literature were handled in the study. Finite element (FE) models of reinforced concrete beam specimens having sufficient (Beam-1) and low shear capacity (Beam-2) were created within ABAQUS environment. Strengthened beams with different techniques were also modelled to reflect improved shear capacity. FE simulations made it possible to investigate parameters that were not examined during the previous experimental studies. The results of the analyses were then compared and found consistent with the experimentally obtained data. Experimental and FEM analysis results are in agreement between 1% (closest) and 6%. (maximum). Beam-2 was stregthened with 5 new porposed methods. The rate of increase in shear strength varies between 33% and 64%. It was found that, the strengthening techniques were fairly useful in improving the shear capacity of the considered girder. The model with the proposed strengthening alternative has accomplished a higher load carrying capacity, ductility and stiffness than all of the other models.
Energy harvesting technology, which converts wasted energy sources in everyday life into usable electric energy, is gaining attention as a solution to the challenges of charging and managing batteries for the driving of IoT sensors, which are one of the key technologies in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Hybrid energy harvesting technology involves integrating two or more energy harvesting technologies to generate electric energy from multiple energy conversion mechanisms. In this study, a hybrid energy harvesting device called TMPPEG (thermo-magneto-piezoelectric-pyroelectric energy generator), which utilizes low-grade waste heat, was developed by incorporating PVDF polymer piezoelectric components and optimizing the system. The variations in piezoelectric output and thermoelectric output were examined based on the spacing of the clamps, and it was found that the device exhibited the highest energy output when the clamp spacing was 2 mm. The voltage and energy output characteristics of the TMPPEG were evaluated, demonstrating its potential as an efficient hybrid energy harvesting component that effectively harnesses low-grade waste heat.
제안된 구조는 $0.35{\mu}m$ 60V BCD(Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) 공정을 사용하여 제작되었으며, TLP(Transmission Line Pulse) 장비로 웨이퍼-레벨 측정을 하였다.
