  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to research trends in the study of breast cancer in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and to establish the further direction for its study. Methods: We reviewed TCM papers published in the last 29 years (1979-2008). Results: 1. We researched 49 papers and the patterns of study were as follows: in vitro studies were 27 papers (55.1%), in vivo studies were 9 papers (18.4%) and clinical studies were 19 papers (38.8%). 2. In vitro studies on breast cancer research in TCM were focused on cytotoxicity (17 papers) and apoptosis (8 papers). Most of in vivo studies (6 papers) were done for the purpose of inducing growth suppression of tumor cell after administration of the test drug. Each drug acted on this effect through various types of mechanism. 3. Unlike in vitro and in vivo studies, clinical studies on growth suppression of tumor cell were rare (4 papers). Most of the studies were focused on reduction of side effect of chemotherapy or synergistic effect with chemotherapy (7 papers), immune regulation (7 papers), and improvement of quality of life (6 papers). 4. Among the treatment method we reviewed, 'Runing Ⅱ(Ⅱ號方)' was the only medication that further studied as clinical trial after experimental study. 5. Since almost all studies have defects like poorly designed model or insufficient data description, it was difficult to make any definite conclusion about these studies. Conclusion: More subsequent clinical studies based on experimental study will be needed afterwards. Strict and high-level study design with detailed description will be needed in further study.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to review the chinese published papers on cauterization of traditional chinese medicine. Methods : We searched chinese published papers from 1958 until May 2017 via CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure) with the keyword "cauterization". We analyzed the studies covered cauterization medical treatment, and classified them by 5 categories including periods, type of study, treatment site, experiment target site, and cauterizing method. Results : We reviewed 112 chinese papers which include 10 Original articles, 43 Review articles, and 59 Case reports. Examining yearly distributions, we can see that research on cauterization is becoming more active than in the past. In classification of 93 clinical studies by treatment site, the number of research on Tonsillitis accounts for almost half(43 studies), followed by Sore throat(14 studies). Among 10 experimental studies, Eye is the most frequently targeted organ which was used to study high intra-ocular pressure(5 studies), and retinal ganglion cell(2 studies). Lastly, there are various methods of cauterization used in papers: Branding iron(54 studies), and Red-hot needle(24 studies) are two major heating methods. Conclusions : This analysis shows that studies on the application of cauterization have been actively conducted in China these days. Furthermore, up-to-date cauterizing methods have been developed such as electric type and microwave type beyond traditional ways. We expect this article will encourage further research on cauterization in order to apply it to a variety of diseases. Then, it could become one of new effective medical treatments in Korean medicine.

Instead of that, many studies aimed for prevention through family education, nutrition education, and exercises education. Specially, because some diseases including hypertension, diabetes and heart disease are connected with obese children, medication can be prescribed optionally. In that case, their mental health must be laid emphasis. And in China, TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) is very common treatment for childhood obesity. Acupuncture, herb medication and manual therapy could be used usefully. The keyword used on searching was 'Hyperopia' combined with 'Chinese medicine', 'Acupuncture' and 'herbal medicine'. Searching duration was not specified. The search was conducted from January 2020 to July 2021, and the final selected papers were from 1983 to 2014. Results : Studies found in CNKI were 27 and 20 sutdies were excluded. Studies found in Pubmed were 57 and 57 studies were excluded. Finally 7 sutdies were selected and analyzed. Five studies of selected ones were case reports and two were review papers. Among 5 case reports, two of them used herbal medicine with pressing auricular acupoints with beans. Another one used electronic plum acupuncture only. Another one used acupuncture with electronic heat and pulsed current stimulation. The other one compared acupuncture alone and acupuncture combined with massage. All studies report high efficacy rates on treatments. Conclusions : According to this study we found the possibility of acupuncture and herbal medicine on hyperopia. We expect that further studies will be conducted and the results of them could be actively applied to clinical treatments.
